President Obama to Visit Walter Reed Friday
White House officials tell ABC News that President Obama will visit with wounded soldiers tomorrow at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
The trip was scheduled before the incident today at Fort Hood, officials said.
President Obama visited wounded troops at Walter Reed as president-elect in January and has visited wounded troops at Bethesda Naval Hospital as senator.
Last week the president made a secret late-night journey to Dover Air Force Base to participate in the dignified transfer of troops and DEA agents killed in Afghanistan. He is in the midst of making up his mind about a new strategy in Afghanistan and Pakistan, which administration sources say will likely include sending more troops.-jpt

Secret trip to Dover…with a camera man? Please! It was leaked that Bush went many times to Walter Reed…not blasted.

The Bush administration got us involved in this stupid war which maimed so many of our troops. He at least owe it to them to visit.

Notifying a contingent about one’s trip to Dover doesn’t exactly qualify as a “secret” trip. Maybe a secret photo op is the right way to describe.

Nobody said this was a ‘secret’ trip.
President Obama was directly involved in retrieving and escorting 18 coffins with individual honors for each. He was there from just after midnight until just before dawn. Only one of these retrievals was filmed. The other 17 Obama did with the troops alone.
Call it what you will but you’re really only revealing your own poverty of spirit.

tierra, yes, jake just referred to the photo op with the coffins as a “secret journey.” so not it’s not a “secret trip” but it IS a “secret journey.” i guess that could be a distinction, if you want to parse out the etymological variance of the words “trip” and “journey.”

When will Obama finally refer to our brave soldiers as “heroes”? My guess is that he won’t because neither does he believe it nor does he ever want to give the military any credit for the honorable sacrifices they are all willing to make.
In my experience, liberals like Obama are envious of men in the military because they represent honor, tradition, chivalry, and manhood. This is also why liberals like Obama are quick to judge and jump on and exploit the rare dishonorable behavior among soldiers. Case in point: the way Obama rashly judged the Cambridge police officer for keeping the peace.

kelli, now I see you’re pointing out Jake called it that, and I agree Jake got that wrong.
Still, its worth pointing out President Obama was directly involved in retrieving and escorting 18 coffins with individual honors for each. He was there from just after midnight until just before dawn. Only one of these retrievals was filmed. The other 17 Obama did with the troops alone.
I think this ‘photo op’ accusation is a shallow one and reveals a poverty of spirit in the poster, not in Obama.

I voted for President Barack Obama (because he put a spell on me) but Barack Obama is evil. Did you know that Ted Kaczynski (the Unabomber) was born in Chicago and attended Harvard? That means Obamacare will kill you, and Grandpa, and Grandpa’s grandchildren, and their grandchildren, and their grandchildren after them. It is time we had a President that isn’t an evil Chicago community organizer elitist arrogant leftist narcissist socialist Marxist Maoist radical communist hopey-changey thug. It is time for Limbaugh/Beck 2012!

President Obama had to get permission to acompany the remains. The first 16 families said no. No 17 agreed.

Is he going to give a shoutout to the injured servicemen?

Why not skip the photo-ops with injured troops until Obama finds the guts to make a decision on Afghanistan.
I’m sure the troops would rather see Obama keep his promises of a specific goal/all the support the troops need
rather than see him.

Obama is assuming they want to see him.
I bet the injured would much rather see 40K troops headed to help their buddies.
For pete’s sake what is Obama waiting for? He has voted present long enough.
Send help or get them out!

I hope the last thing that coward in Fort Hood saw was a “westernized” woman taking him out.
Kim Munley is a hero.
My prayers are with all the troops and their families.

We need to take PTSD seriously and do some research or else it will continue to be like this as VETS return Home

Obama should be totally embarrassed to go visit those brave soldiers.
What’s he going to say–I’m still trying to decide whether I should send help to Afghanistan, your buddies can wait alittle longer.
And sorry about the callous way I treated the murder of 13 soldiers in Ft Hood, but I had to make a few shout-outs first.
Obama should stop pretending to be a CIC until he actually starts to act like one.

In REALITY this is his fifth trip to Walter Reed and his second trip this year. It is only his first trip AS PRESIDENT to Walter Reed. Try to stick to reality for your two minute hate.

Walter Reed,Another photo op for Obetamale….Whitehouse says its not connected to The Fort Hood shootings and has been planned for months. Guess thats why a Health Care speech had to be postponed so he could go to Walter Reed. America…wake up for God’s sake, get this arrogant egotistic, Socialist out of office! If no one’s got the guts to impeach then make it your aim to bounce him down the Capitol steps in 2012.

Obama’s first visit to Walter Reed in 11 months. I wonder how many of those maimed and injured soldiers would be healthy and whole if Obama sent the needed reinforcements and gave them proper equipment. As for the photo op of this man saluting the dead bodies of young men and women, it should be known that only one of the 15 families allowed a picture to be taken. I’m sure the majority were aware that their son, daughter, or husband would probably be alive today if Obama had sent reinforcements. He is deliberately trying to make us lose in Afghanistan, so he can pull out. To do so at the expense of our soldiers is disgusting. If he wants out, then he should have the guts to do it, rather than turning this into another Vietnam, before he pulls out. This is the deadliest year for our soldiers in Afghanistan. 2009 deaths alone supassed all death in 2001, 02, 03, and 04 COMBINED!

Are you refering to the shooting at Fort Hood? If so, you should be aware that Major Hasan NEVER served overseas and PTSD cannot be used for as excuse for his murderous rampage.
