WHY IN THE HELL SHOULD I BE FORCED TO BE INSURED. There was a time when I wasn’t insured and went to the doctor, it’s pretty simple …. I PAID THE DAMN BILL. People like me shouldn’t be shoved into the slacker/loser catagory. And WHO exactly is the one to decide “If one can afford insurance but doesn’t purchase it”. Do these morans know how friggin’ expensive it is just to LIVE … what they see as $1K-$3K as nothing … could cripple families as well as singles.

Thank you Lord Obama, for saving my job, and I am one of the millions of people rushing out to sign up for the government option. There are crowds lined up for miles in my otherwise peaceful village here in Illinois.
Your pieces of legislation will go down in history. And all of this is free, and will reduce the deficit? That’s good, because all the crap you inherited gives me a rather bleak outlook on that front, but thankfully, you have a printing press, and you’re not afraid to use it!

this character Obama is very scary. I know he has a VERY different view on the Constitution, civil rights, and natural rights than the Founding Fathers who wrote our founding documents. Tapper’s good, but still not hard enough. He asked “Do YOU think the abortion amendment goes too far” and the President says “There’s strong feelings on both sides . . .” Tapper and all reporters need to hold these people to the questions. Say “No, no. I didn’t ask if other people might think it goes too far. I asked YOU if YOU think it does.”
This happens all the time, no one stays on an issue until there is a yes or no or an honest “I don’t know.”

I’m so confused – how does not purchasing health INSURANCE cause someone else to pay for my health CARE? If I didn’t have health INSURANCE, wouldn’t I then pay for my health CARE out of my own pocket? This past year, I paid substantially more for my family’s health INSURANCE than they paid out for our health CARE – just in case (that’s what insurance is for right) a major illness or injury were to occur. Comprehensive auto insurance is not required (if I don’t have it and I crash into a tree, I pay the bill(s)) but liability is, so that if I crash into your car and can’t or don’t want to foot the bill(s), we submit it to the insurance company and they make sure you don’t have to foot the bill for my mistake (carelessness/stupidity/ineptness…). Have we forgotten the whole pupose of INSURANCE – to provide for the unforseen events of life? Asking the insurance companies to pay for pre-existing conditions is like asking them to give you flood insurance when there’s 2ft of water in your living room. With so much cost negotiating between doctors & ins. companies, the line has been blurred between INSURANCE and some sort of health CARE club. There are many issues with health CARE that must be addressed, but simply changing health INSURANCE will only make things worse. –btw, if this bill doesn’t force me to buy INSURANCE, I will continue building my health savings account to eventually self insure (as in pay my own bills) for all but catastrophic illness/injury.

Just like car insurance? Of course, you can always choose not to drive if you don’t want to pay it. So I guess he’s saying that if we don’t want to pay for health insurance, we should take our own lives?
Also, most of the folks who can afford insurance but choose not get it simply pay for all their own medical expenses. They take responsibility for the medical bills. They don’t ask other hard working Americans to front the cash.
And are there large medical bills for ongoing treatment that might need to be paid? Sure. But it should be that person’s responsibility to pay them when that day comes, or to not have the treatment. That is the person’s choice. We all make choices and suffer/enjoy the consequences thereof. Health care should be no different.

Actually, although I allow health care providers to submit claims directly to my Ins. company, I review every EOB personally. I have experienced severe injury (150mi in ambulance and 2 nights in hosp.), and have 3 kids (one has seen a specialist for diagnosis).

I’m not sure what you consider “casual” but most ‘catastrophic’ (high deductible) plans would cover a 50k expense but may cost me 5k-10k out of pocket first. Do I have that in savings now? – no, but that’s why I still pay more for the lower deductible coverage. I purchase my coverage based on my ability to pay the deductible (btw – the higher the deductible – the lower the premium). The less premium I pay, the more I can save and the higher deductible I can pay (do you see where this is going?). The more I save (invest) the more return I get on that savings, instead of paying for some insurance agent’s (or bureaucrat’s) new car.
I make no claims about your knowledge/intelligence, but your comments highlight the general ignorance regarding insurance & health care that seems to permeate the thinking of the supporters of President Obama’s plan.

How in the world does not having health insurance force the tax payer to pick up the bill? When I was younger and uninsured I got hurt and then I got a bill from the hospital. It took me years to pay it off after it was sent to collections.
Is Obama telling me that there is some government program that would have taken care of that debt for me? Even if there was such a program, I don’t think I would use it.

This president is doing what FDR did during the Great Depression… he is not wasting a crisis. He is using this country’s frailties in character, values, morals and cohesiveness of community to push an agenda that creates dependence on government to provide entitlements.
This agenda is creating a burgeoning portion of society who create nothing, but, consume a disproportionate amount of the country’s assets. This is promoted by liberals to keep their position of power in government – a nanny state!
Our government is taking our freedoms and taking away self determination in our lives! God, whatever form it takes for you, placed you on this planet to live by free will. But, if Obama and the liberals have their way, we will be nothing but drones paying more and more taxes for their vision of how we should be living – where is the free will there?

Halth care is expensive in this country because people are fat and out-os-shape. If he wants to fine someone over health insurance, let’s say that is your BMI is over 30 you pay a 10% premium fine, over 35 15%, over 40 BMI 20% and on and on. Why should those in shape subsidize those who are not. If you smoke add another 10% toe ach category. The bill added to health care by the uninsured in this country is minscule compared to that added fat, smokers who are out of shape.
What does Newt Gingrich have in common with Benedict Arnold and Judas…He is a progressive fool just like the rest of these idiots in congress but leeches keep them in office with the ideal that they will get some benefit from it.

I have an idea. If lets get rid of all the career politicians, let’s put limited terms on every office and let’s make it so that the most money you can be paid for any office is like $60,000 a year. Let’s make it so that the only people who run and serve are the people we truly want to make things in our country better. Let’s make it so that only people who are truly interested in making a difference will run for office. I have another idea, let’s make it so that everyone who wants to run for office has a clean record, let’s get all the crooks, the drug addicts, the con men, and those who don’t respect the laws of our country out of leadership positions for our country. And I’m talking about BOTH parties. I’m sick of them both. I personally am conservative and think that we should stick with the constitution of our country. I am personally against big government and big spending. I uphold the values of self-reliance and capitalism. That being said, it’s hard for me to support the Republican party anymore. I disagree with the Democratic party as well. But mostly I think that anyone who wants to be in a position of leadership should be there for the right reasons, should demonstrate that they have at least a basic working knowledge of economics, history, and others that are of key importance to the life of our country, and should show that they respect our laws and love our country and the freedoms that were purchased and defended with the life blood of our own people, as well as our allies. If you hate America, no one is forcing you to stay here, leave. Yes Oh Yeah, Obama is guilty right now of treason against the Constitution on many issues, you know the one he swore to preserve protect and defend on his inauguration. Thats one of the main reasons he wants this healthcare bill rushed into law so that it will be done before enough people see that he is clearly violating the Constitution. Once it becomes law he is no longer responsible it will be the fault of the house and congress.He is obsessed with this healthcare plan and can’t focus on any other issues until it is done. Healthcare costs can be cut drastically just by repealing the Mc Carren-Ferguson Act and letting people purchase their insurance in various states. Example in heavily populated states health insurance cost a lot mor but if an individual can purchase insurance from a less populated state for a lower price than the market will set the price.Insurance companies would no longer be able to price fix without the Mc Carren-Ferguson act protecting them from anti-trust laws.Insurance companies have to learn like any other business has had to learn to be competitive. Don’t get me wrong insurance companies get ripped off also by padded bills from hospitals for illegal aliens coming in with no social security number or fake ones and the hospitals pad the bill to cover their losses. Thats why one tylenol tablet cost 30.00+ in a hospital, so the insurance company adjusts it to 18.00 and they are still getting ripped. The healthcare business is loaded with deception and if it was watched more the costs would come down dramatically.The illegal alien issue should be dealt with before any healthcare bill is even thought of. The government needs to enforce immigration laws and not make illegals want to come here. The way it is now coming here and working tax free with free healthcare is not going to deter them at all it is encouraging more to come. Why didn’t our bright self serving politicians (you know the lawmakers) not see this with what happened in California years ago? Especially when it happened one day when you made a phone call and a message came on saying if you wish to continue in english,push one now? This country is collapsing from within and the ones that are responsible live like kings and queens. High salaries with cost of living raises,the best free healthcare and they keep all of it from just serving one term. They have made laws exempting themselves from insider trading. A couple of examples; when it was decided that we were going to go to war in Afghanistan and Iraq the polititians knew ahead of time and went out and bought stocks at a low price in the weapons manufacturers or they send the E.P.A. out to fine businesses for not having some kind of fresh air system (that they made a law) in their buildings and wow lets see they collect the fine plus buy stock in the system manufacturer and make their fortunes. They are not satisfied with just that they want to expand government which is what this healthcare plan is going to do. It’s going to create 75k-150k jobs for czars and cronies first and then for their other corrupt organizations like ACORN and the SEIU these people see nothing wrong with going out and gathering a million absentee voting ballots to get their corrupt politicians elected and they are too blind to see that Obama and his czars are going to screw them too in the end. Liberals and Conservatives should put their differences aside and join together to get these corrupt politicians out of government along with this revenue enhancing healthcare bill.

Where there is no trust, there is no credibility despite the fact there may be a valid point to be made. Unfortunately, there is neither trust nor validity to this governments’s push for health care reform as it is being pushed down our throats with the speed and urgency with which it is being done. To learn a citizenship’s responsibility when they have been betrayed by those who “rule” over them, please refer to John Locke’s treatise, Of Civil Government. Interesting reading and the basis on which our founding fathers felt justified to take the action which they did against the tyranical monarchy under which they endured similar treatment. This administration should familiarize themselves with these principles and not be forced to “relive history”, for I’m not sure they realize what is on the other end of the tail they are pulling.

The average patient in Parkland ‘s maternity wards is 25 years old, married and giving birth to her second child. She is also an illegal immigrant. By law, pregnant women cannot be denied medical care based on their immigration status or ability to pay.
OK, fine. That doesn’t mean they should receive better care than everyday, middle-class American citizens. But at Parkland Hospital , they do.

Well, another subject of the article was born at Parkland in 1986 shortly after her mother entered the U.S. illegally—now she is having her own child there as well. (That’s right; she’s technica lly a U.S. citizen.) These women receive free prenatal care including medication, nutrition, birthing classes and child care classes. They also get freebies such as car seats, bottles, diapers and formula.
Most of these things are available to American citizens as well but only for low-income applicants and even then, the red tape involved is almost insurmountable.
Because these women are illegal immigrants, they do not have to provide any sort of legitimate identification—no proof of income. An American citizen would have to provide a social security number which would reveal their annual income—an illegal immigrant need only clai m to be poor and the hospital must take them at their word.
“My husband is a pilot for the United States Navy (yes, he fought in Iraq ) and while the health care is good, we Navy wives don’t get any of these perks! Car seats? Diapers? Not so much. So my question is this:
Does our public medical care system treat illegal immigrants better than American citizens? Yes it does!
As I mentioned, the care I have received is perfectly adequate but it’s bare bones, meat and potato medical care—not top of line.
Their (the illegals) medical care is free—simply because they are illegal immigrants? Once again, there is no way to verify their income.
Parkland Hospital offers indigent care to Dallas County residents who earn less than $40,000 per year. (They also have to prove that they did not refuse health coverage at their current job. Yeah, the ‘free’ care is not so easy for Americans.)
There are about 140 patients who received roughly $4 million dollars for un-reimbursed medical care. As it turns out, they did not qualify for free treatment because they resided outside of D allas County so the hospital is going to sue them! Illegals get it all free! But U.S citizens who live outside of Dallas County get sued! How stupid is this?
As if that isn’t annoying enough, the illegal immigrant patients are actually complaining about hospital staff not speaking Spanish. In this AP story, the author speaks with a woman who is upset that she had to translate comments from the hospital staff into Spanish for her husband.
The doctor was trying to explain the situation to the family and the mother was forced to translate for her husband who only spoke Spanish.
This was apparently a great injus tice to her.
In an attempt to create a Spanish-speaking staff, Parkland Hospital is now providing incentives in the form of extra pay for applicants who speak Spanish. Additionally, medical students at the University of Texas Southwestern for which Parkland Hospital is the training facility will now have a Spanish language requirement added to their already jammed-packed curriculum. No other school in the country boasts such a ridiculous multi-semester (multicultural) requirement.

Jake, thanks for trying to make Obama speak some truth. It is a tough job and very few in the mainstream media want to make Obama speak the truth.
It is my sincere hope that you and others in the mainstream media begin to understand and accept what Obama is about … that he means to remake America into a fascist/socialist/or oligarchy state.
Perhaps it is a blend of all three.
But, it is NOT a Republic form of government that they want … a very small federal government with very little intrusion on individual liberties and freedom.
Obama surrounds himself with radical socialist/Marxists and they care not for our Constitution or liberty.

When it comes to health care costs, there is plenty of blame to go around for why it is so expensive. However, making it more expensive by forcing taxpayers to foot the bill for illegal aliens, is just wrong. The law says Border Patrol cannot refuse an ambulance coming in from Mexico w/ a sick person. Pregnancy is defined as sick. Once in America & the child is born, we have another anchor baby. Its just wrong.
Eventually, hopefully, someone will take a number of these issues to court to challenge their constitutionality.
W/o properly secured borders, amnesty is a no go. It permits greedy employers to exploit the next group of desperate illegal aliens who will surely follow this group. Its just wrong.
We can no longer afford what our politicians are saddling us with. The changes we need, will have to happen in 20101, or we can write off a republic founded for us, based on a constitution that protects all of us, & the individual freedoms we have enjoyed.
Socialism is a disease. Ask Vaclav Klaus, the President of the Czech republic who lived under socialism for decades. He knows it deprives people of their will. He knows it takes away any incentive to aspire. And, while we have

Did anyone pick up the subtle hint that there will be no private insurance if he has his way. Listen at the beginning about govt funded abortions. He says the reason it will take a while is because he promised the insurance coverage you have wouldn’t change and he wants to make sure that happens. That tells me that he’s expecting that all of us will have government insurance. Uuughhh … I hope this horrible bill doesn’t get passed and that Obama listens to people who say they don’t want this “change”.

and … People pay higher premiums based on their medical history already. So, to place a higher premium or fine on someone …say with a heart pill that increases their weight and places them over 30 bmi or even someone who just struggles with their weight for personal reasons … is a double slap in the face. Besides, saying someone should be penalized for the weight opens up the doors to other things. Like … maybe penalties for a non-vegan lifestyle, penalties for not owning a pet which has been medically shown to decrease blood pressure, penalties for those who don’t pray or pray to the “right” God .. where will they draw the line? We have to be careful to weight these decisions within the boundaries of the constitution and Bill of Rights. It’s too reminiscent of Jim Crow laws imho.

Sorry I posted a comment about Parkland Memorial hospital and my prior post before that didn’t show up so I’m posting it again hoping it goes through and will explain the Parkland Memorial post. As we know Obama is obsessed with this healthcare bill because it is going to create probably the biggest tax increase scam in the history of our country. It’s going to create more massive government corruption which means higher taxes for all, any race,creed,liberal,conservative etc. Americans have lost their jobs,homes and a lot of simple possessions needed for everyday life and they are holding back stimulus money until closer to election time! Then they will use our tax dollars to lower our taxes on some “record” tax breaks before the elections in 2010. Another reason for the rush on this healthcare bill is they have brainwashed many people to be apathetic and believe that they care about you and will take care of you. They want as much healing time as possible so that people don’t stay angry and vote them out. It’s all going to backfire on them I believe this time if people know the facts about this healthcare scam. How it works? Create a bill with many issues and distractions to get peoples attention off the issue itself and settle for exactly what they wanted in the first place. We’ll ammend it later is their motive and they will.Anyway I saw Obama on TV a few months back and a reporter questioned him about why the rush on healthcare and shouldn’t the illegal alien issue be dealt with first because of the cost that they put on the economy and Obama answered that he will “deal with the immigration issue next year right now we have to get an affordable healthcare plan for all americans”. Obviously he is ignorant or doesn’t see what the cost is for the costs of illegal aliens in our country so, read the attached with factual links below…
1. $11 Billion to $22 billion is spent on welfare to illegal aliens each year by state governments.
2. $2.2 Billion dollars a year is spent on food assistance programs such as food stamps, WIC, and free school lunches for illegal aliens.

4. $12 Billion dollars a year is spent on primary and secondary school education for children here illegally and they cannot speak a word of English!

I have issues with being forced to have health ins. I choose to not have it, it is more affordable for me not to. I am very healthy, I don’t take advantage of the system, I have been to the dr. maybe 2 dozen times in my entire life at 43 by the way. The way he says just like auto ins.it is a law to have it so should we humans.Well cars are considered deadly weapons you hit someone they get seriously hurt or killed and ins. is supposed to pay for those things. Now as a human I don’t consider myself a deadly weapon or a threat to society so how dare he force me to have something I don’t want! Just like NB said it’s opening more doors that really need to stay closed. Penalties for being over weight, penalties for eating meat, penalties for not owning a pet Etc.etc.etc. Where is it going to stop? I just wish his term would hurry up and get over with! This country is going to longer be land of the free, it’s land of the do what the gov’t wants you to do or be penalized!

But where in these documents can the government FORCE you to give money to a private, for-profit corporation? Tapper’s good, but still not hard enough. He asked “Do YOU think the abortion amendment goes too far” and the President says “There’s strong feelings on both sides . . .” Tapper and all reporters need to hold these people to the questions. Say “No, no. I didn’t ask if other people might think it goes too far. I asked YOU if YOU think it does.”
This happens all the time, no one stays on an issue until there is a yes or no or an honest “I don’t know.”

I’m so confused – how does not purchasing health INSURANCE cause someone else to pay for my health CARE? If I didn’t have health INSURANCE, wouldn’t I then pay for my health CARE out of my own pocket? This past year, I paid substantially more for my family’s health INSURANCE than they paid out for our health CARE – just in case (that’s what insurance is for right) a major illness or injury were to occur. Comprehensive auto insurance is not required (if I don’t have it and I crash into a tree, I pay the bill(s)) but liability is, so that if I crash into your car and can’t or don’t want to foot the bill(s), we submit it to the insurance company and they make sure you don’t have to foot the bill for my mistake (carelessness/stupidity/ineptness…). Have we forgotten the whole pupose of INSURANCE – to provide for the unforseen events of life? Asking the insurance companies to pay for pre-existing conditions is like asking them to give you flood insurance when there’s 2ft of water in your living room. With so much cost negotiating between doctors & ins. companies, the line has been blurred between INSURANCE and some sort of health CARE club. There are many issues with health CARE that must be addressed, but simply changing health INSURANCE will only make things worse. –btw, if this bill doesn’t force me to buy INSURANCE, I will continue building my health savings account to eventually self insure (as in pay my own bills) for all but catastrophic illness/injury.

We CAN read and are NOT idiots, so when Obama and crew out and out lie about what’s in it…no increased taxes, no adding to the deficit, no rationaing healthcare for elders, etc., it totally ticks me off. We have got to unite and vote these people out of office. Let’s stick together and get this done! Not by name calling, riots, finger-pointing or shooting someone, but by arming ourselves with the (their) facts and putting it right back to them.
You’ll notice that current government officials immediately attack any person or business that does not give them the positive coverage they want. Just like car insurance? Of course, you can always choose not to drive if you don’t want to pay it. So I guess he’s saying that if we don’t want to pay for health insurance, we should take our own lives?
Also, most of the folks who can afford insurance but choose not get it simply pay for all their own medical expenses. They take responsibility for the medical bills. They don’t ask other hard working Americans to front the cash.
And are there large medical bills for ongoing treatment that might need to be paid? Sure. But it should be that person’s responsibility to pay them when that day comes, or to not have the treatment. That is the person’s choice. We all make choices and suffer/enjoy the consequences thereof. Health care should be no different.

Actually, although I allow health care providers to submit claims directly to my Ins. company, I review every EOB personally. I have experienced severe injury (150mi in ambulance and 2 nights in hosp.), and have 3 kids (one has seen a specialist for diagnosis).

I’m not sure what you consider “casual” but most ‘catastrophic’ (high deductible) plans would cover a 50k expense but may cost me 5k-10k out of pocket first. Do I have that in savings now? – no, but that’s why I still pay more for the lower deductible coverage. I purchase my coverage based on my ability to pay the deductible (btw – the higher the deductible – the lower the premium). The less premium I pay, the more I can save and the higher deductible I can pay (do you see where this is going?). The more I save (invest) the more return I get on that savings, instead of paying for some insurance agent’s (or bureaucrat’s) new car.
I make no claims about your knowledge/intelligence, but your comments highlight the general ignorance regarding insurance & health care that seems to permeate the thinking of the supporters of President Obama’s plan.

How in the world does not having health insurance force the tax payer to pick up the bill? When I was younger and uninsured I got hurt and then I got a bill from the hospital. It took me years to pay it off after it was sent to collections.
Is Obama telling me that there is some government program that would have taken care of that debt for me? Even if there was such a program, I don’t think I would use it.

This president is doing what FDR did during the Great Depression… he is not wasting a crisis. He is using this country’s frailties in character, values, morals and cohesiveness of community to push an agenda that creates dependence on government to provide entitlements.
This agenda is creating a burgeoning portion of society who create nothing, but, consume a disproportionate amount of the country’s assets. This is promoted by liberals to keep their position of power in government – a nanny state!
Our government is taking our freedoms and taking away self determination in our lives! God, whatever form it takes for you, placed you on this planet to live by free will. But, if Obama and the liberals have their way, we will be nothing but drones paying more and more taxes for their vision of how we should be living – where is the free will there?
You better wake up America! Your God given freedoms are being taken away, along with your money to pay for others who serve next to no purpose in society other than to mindlessly consume disproportionately to what they contribute, because liberals tell them they can by passing legislation, manipulating the free market and making us pay for it!

Halth care is expensive in this country because people are fat and out-os-shape. If he wants to fine someone over health insurance, let’s say that is your BMI is over 30 you pay a 10% premium fine, over 35 15%, over 40 BMI 20% and on and on. Why should those in shape subsidize those who are not. If you smoke add another 10% toe ach category. The bill added to health care by the uninsured in this country is minscule compared to that added fat, smokers who are out of shape.

I have an idea. If lets get rid of all the career politicians, let’s put limited terms on every office and let’s make it so that the most money you can be paid for any office is like $60,000 a year. Let’s make it so that the only people who run and serve are the people we truly want to make things in our country better. Let’s make it so that only people who are truly interested in making a difference will run for office. I have another idea, let’s make it so that everyone who wants to run for office has a clean record, let’s get all the crooks, the drug addicts, the con men, and those who don’t respect the laws of our country out of leadership positions for our country. And I’m talking about BOTH parties. I’m sick of them both. I personally am conservative and think that we should stick with the constitution of our country. I am personally against big government and big spending. I uphold the values of self-reliance and capitalism. That being said, it’s hard for me to support the Republican party anymore. I disagree with the Democratic party as well. But mostly I think that anyone who wants to be in a position of leadership should be there for the right reasons, should demonstrate that they have at least a basic working knowledge of economics, history, and others that are of key importance to the life of our country, and should show that they respect our laws and love our country and the freedoms that were purchased and defended with the life blood of our own people, as well as our allies. If you hate America, no one is forcing you to stay here, leave. If you are taking office to try and transform our country into some other country, spare the rest of us and go to where ever it is that you want our country to be like.

It’s said that when a person looks to the right they are constructing an idea and when they look to the left, they’re remembering somethat that has actually happened. Since a lie is essentially a mental construction, people will often access that part of the brain when trying to come up with a lie and will look to the right. Obama constantly looks to the right. And he sure doesn’t like the questions he’s being asked.

This is false. Brain functionality is the same in both left-handed and right-handed people. So Leonard’s statement cannot be said to not apply to Obama because of his left-handedness.

Yes Oh Yeah, Obama is guilty right now of treason against the Constitution on many issues, you know the one he swore to preserve protect and defend on his inauguration. Thats one of the main reasons he wants this healthcare bill rushed into law so that it will be done before enough people see that he is clearly violating the Constitution. Once it becomes law he is no longer responsible it will be the fault of the house and congress.He is obsessed with this healthcare plan and can’t focus on any other issues until it is done. Healthcare costs can be cut drastically just by repealing the Mc Carren-Ferguson Act and letting people purchase their insurance in various states. Example in heavily populated states health insurance cost a lot mor but if an individual can purchase insurance from a less populated state for a lower price than the market will set the price.Insurance companies would no longer be able to price fix without the Mc Carren-Ferguson act protecting them from anti-trust laws.Insurance companies have to learn like any other business has had to learn to be competitive. Don’t get me wrong insurance companies get ripped off also by padded bills from hospitals for illegal aliens coming in with no social security number or fake ones and the hospitals pad the bill to cover their losses. Thats why one tylenol tablet cost 30.00+ in a hospital, so the insurance company adjusts it to 18.00 and they are still getting ripped. The healthcare business is loaded with deception and if it was watched more the costs would come down dramatically.The illegal alien issue should be dealt with before any healthcare bill is even thought of. The government needs to enforce immigration laws and not make illegals want to come here. The way it is now coming here and working tax free with free healthcare is not going to deter them at all it is encouraging more to come. Why didn’t our bright self serving politicians (you know the lawmakers) not see this with what happened in California years ago? Especially when it happened one day when you made a phone call and a message came on saying if you wish to continue in english,push one now? This country is collapsing from within and the ones that are responsible live like kings and queens. High salaries with cost of living raises,the best free healthcare and they keep all of it from just serving one term. They have made laws exempting themselves from insider trading. A couple of examples; when it was decided that we were going to go to war in Afghanistan and Iraq the polititians knew ahead of time and went out and bought stocks at a low price in the weapons manufacturers or they send the E.P.A. out to fine businesses for not having some kind of fresh air system (that they made a law) in their buildings and wow lets see they collect the fine plus buy stock in the system manufacturer and make their fortunes. They are not satisfied with just that they want to expand government which is what this healthcare plan is going to do. It’s going to create 75k-150k jobs for czars and cronies first and then for their other corrupt organizations like ACORN and the SEIU these people see nothing wrong with going out and gathering a million absentee voting ballots to get their corrupt politicians elected and they are too blind to see that Obama and his czars are going to screw them too in the end. Liberals and Conservatives should put their differences aside and join together to get these corrupt politicians out of government along with this revenue enhancing healthcare bill.

Where there is no trust, there is no credibility despite the fact there may be a valid point to be made. Unfortunately, there is neither trust nor validity to this governments’s push for health care reform as it is being pushed down our throats with the speed and urgency with which it is being done. To learn a citizenship’s responsibility when they have been betrayed by those who “rule” over them, please refer to John Locke’s treatise, Of Civil Government. Interesting reading and the basis on which our founding fathers felt justified to take the action which they did against the tyranical monarchy under which they endured similar treatment. This administration should familiarize themselves with these principles and not be forced to “relive history”, for I’m not sure they realize what is on the other end of the tail they are pulling.

Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas , Texas is a fairly famous
institution and for a variety of reasons:
1. John F. Kennedy died there in 1963
2. Lee Harvey Oswald died there shortly after
3. Jack Ruby -who killed Lee Harvey Oswald , died there a few years later. by coincidence
“On the flip side, Parkland is also home to the second busiest maternity ward in the country with almost 16,000 new babies arriving each y ear.
(That’s almost 44 per day—every day)
A recent patient survey indicated that 70 percent of the women who gave birth at Parkland in the first three months of 2006 were illegal immigrants. That’s 11,200 anchor babies born every year just in Dallas .
According to the article, the hospital spent $70.7 million delivering 15,938 babies in 2004 but managed to end up with almost $8 million dollars in surplus funding. Medicaid kicked
in $34.5 million, Dallas County taxpayers kicked in $31.3 million and the feds tossed in another $9.5 million.
The average patient in Parkland ‘s maternity wards is 25 years old, married and giving birth to her second child. She is also an illegal immigrant. By law, pregnant women cannot be denied medical care based on their immigration status or ability to pay.
OK, fine. That doesn’t mean they should receive better care than everyday, middle-class American citizens. But at Parkland Hospital , they do.

The Dallas Morning News article followed a Hispanic woman who was a patient at one of the clinics and pregnant with her third child—her previous two were also born at Parkland . Her first two deliveries were free and the Mexican native was grateful because it would have cost $200 to have them in Mexico . This time, the hospital wants her to pay $10 per visit and $100 for the delivery but she was unsure if she could come up with the money. Not that it matters, the hospital won’t turn her away.
(I wonder why they even bother asking at this point.)

Their (the illegals) medical care is free—simply because they are illegal immigrants? Once again, there is no way to verify their income.
Parkland Hospital offers indigent care to Dallas County residents who earn less than $40,000 per year. (They also have to prove that they did not refuse health coverage at their current job. Yeah, the ‘free’ care is not so easy for Americans.)
There are about 140 patients who received roughly $4 million dollars for un-reimbursed medical care. As it turns out, they did not qualify for free treatment because they resided outside of D allas County so the hospital is going to sue them! Illegals get it all free! But U.S citizens who live outside of Dallas County get sued! How stupid is this?
As if that isn’t annoying enough, the illegal immigrant patients are actually complaining about hospital staff not speaking Spanish. In this AP story, the author speaks with a woman who is upset that she had to translate comments from the hospital staff into Spanish for her husband.
The doctor was trying to explain the situation to the family and the mother was forced to translate for her husband who only spoke Spanish.
This was apparently a great injus tice to her.
In an attempt to create a Spanish-speaking staff, Parkland Hospital is now providing incentives in the form of extra pay for applicants who speak Spanish. Additionally, medical students at the University of Texas Southwestern for which Parkland Hospital is the training facility will now have a Spanish language requirement added to their already jammed-packed curriculum. No other school in the country boasts such a ridiculous multi-semester (multicultural) requirement.

Jake, thanks for trying to make Obama speak some truth. It is a tough job and very few in the mainstream media want to make Obama speak the truth.
It is my sincere hope that you and others in the mainstream media begin to understand and accept what Obama is about … that he means to remake America into a fascist/socialist/or oligarchy state.
Perhaps it is a blend of all three.
But, it is NOT a Republic form of government that they want … a very small federal government with very little intrusion on individual liberties and freedom.
Obama surrounds himself with radical socialist/Marxists and they care not for our Constitution or liberty.

When it comes to health care costs, there is plenty of blame to go around for why it is so expensive. However, making it more expensive by forcing taxpayers to foot the bill for illegal aliens, is just wrong. The law says Border Patrol cannot refuse an ambulance coming in from Mexico w/ a sick person. Pregnancy is defined as sick. Once in America & the child is born, we have another anchor baby. Its just wrong.
Eventually, hopefully, someone will take a number of these issues to court to challenge their constitutionality.
W/o properly secured borders, amnesty is a no go. It permits greedy employers to exploit the next group of desperate illegal aliens who will surely follow this group. Its just wrong.
We can no longer afford what our politicians are saddling us with. The changes we need, will have to happen in 20101, or we can write off a republic founded for us, based on a constitution that protects all of us, & the individual freedoms we have enjoyed.
Socialism is a disease. Ask Vaclav Klaus, the President of the Czech republic who lived under socialism for decades. He knows it deprives people of their will. He knows it takes away any incentive to aspire. And, while we have

Did anyone pick up the subtle hint that there will be no private insurance if he has his way. Listen at the beginning about govt funded abortions. He says the reason it will take a while is because he promised the insurance coverage you have wouldn’t change and he wants to make sure that happens. That tells me that he’s expecting that all of us will have government insurance. Uuughhh … I hope this horrible bill doesn’t get passed and that Obama listens to people who say they don’t want this “change”.

and … People pay higher premiums based on their medical history already. So, to place a higher premium or fine on someone …say with a heart pill that increases their weight and places them over 30 bmi or even someone who just struggles with their weight for personal reasons … is a double slap in the face. Besides, saying someone should be penalized for the weight opens up the doors to other things. Like … maybe penalties for a non-vegan lifestyle, penalties for not owning a pet which has been medically shown to decrease blood pressure, penalties for those who don’t pray or pray to the “right” God .. where will they draw the line? We have to be careful to weight these decisions within the boundaries of the constitution and Bill of Rights. It’s too reminiscent of Jim Crow laws imho.

Sorry I posted a comment about Parkland Memorial hospital and my prior post before that didn’t show up so I’m posting it again hoping it goes through and will explain the Parkland Memorial post. As we know Obama is obsessed with this healthcare bill because it is going to create probably the biggest tax increase scam in the history of our country. It’s going to create more massive government corruption which means higher taxes for all, any race,creed,liberal,conservative etc. Americans have lost their jobs,homes and a lot of simple possessions needed for everyday life and they are holding back stimulus money until closer to election time! Then they will use our tax dollars to lower our taxes on some “record” tax breaks before the elections in 2010. Another reason for the rush on this healthcare bill is they have brainwashed many people to be apathetic and believe that they care about you and will take care of you. They want as much healing time as possible so that people don’t stay angry and vote them out. It’s all going to backfire on them I believe this time if people know the facts about this healthcare scam. How it works? Create a bill with many issues and distractions to get peoples attention off the issue itself and settle for exactly what they wanted in the first place. We’ll ammend it later is their motive and they will.Anyway I saw Obama on TV a few months back and a reporter questioned him about why the rush on healthcare and shouldn’t the illegal alien issue be dealt with first because of the cost that they put on the economy and Obama answered that he will “deal with the immigration issue next year right now we have to get an affordable healthcare plan for all americans”. Obviously he is ignorant or doesn’t see what the cost is for the costs of illegal aliens in our country so, read the attached with factual links below…
1. $11 Billion to $22 billion is spent on welfare to illegal aliens each year by state governments.
2. $2.2 Billion dollars a year is spent on food assistance programs such as food stamps, WIC, and free school lunches for illegal aliens.
3. $2.5 Billion dollars a year is spent on Medicaid for illegal aliens.
4. $12 Billion dollars a year is spent on primary and secondary school education for children here illegally and they cannot speak a word of English!

The total cost is a whopping $ 338.3 BILLION DOLLARS A YEAR AND IF YOU’RE HAVING TROUBLE UNDERSTANDING THIS AMOUNT OF MONEY; IT IS $338,300,000,000.00 WHICH WOULD BE ENOUGH TO STIMULATE THE ECONOMY FOR THE CITIZENS OF THIS COUNTRY……….

Why can’t the American people have the same insurance plan that the president and the congressmen and women have? They don’t have to pay for it or anything, and have all thier health problems taken care of by good doctors.And ALL of this is taken care of by the TAXPAYERS.

I have issues with being forced to have health ins. I choose to not have it, it is more affordable for me not to. I am very healthy, I don’t take advantage of the system, I have been to the dr. maybe 2 dozen times in my entire life at 43 by the way. The way he says just like auto ins.it is a law to have it so should we humans.Well cars are considered deadly weapons you hit someone they get seriously hurt or killed and ins. is supposed to pay for those things. Now as a human I don’t consider myself a deadly weapon or a threat to society so how dare he force me to have something I don’t want! Just like NB said it’s opening more doors that really need to stay closed. Penalties for being over weight, penalties for eating meat, penalties for not owning a pet Etc.etc.etc. Where is it going to stop? I just wish his term would hurry up and get over with! This country is going to longer be land of the free, it’s land of the do what the gov’t wants you to do or be penalized!

I Promise, He said that during his campaign too, 11 months later his promises fell between the cracks. I believe he talks the talk in circles and can be interpret many different ways, I realize its just words, no Real Meanings, just words put together in a certain way to make you forget what the point was in the first place – I’d say take more give less whatever it takes, I think this way should be that way,I promise I will, but not for lower incomes- WAIT, do I sound like him? Sorry. I just don’t believe He is a supporter of what this Country Stands for, We all are different in our own way and that’s his problem.
