The Presidential Planner

From Sunlen Miller:

As is tradition, President Obama today will pardon his first turkey in the Rose Garden.  His first presidential pardon will go to Courage, a 20-week-old, 45-pound turkey from Princeton, N.C.  Read more on Courage from ABC’s Karen Travers, here.

Gearing up for the annual turkey pardon, the White House has released a satirical movie trailer hyping the drama that will unfold today.

The produced clip starts with the green screen announcing that “The following preview has been approved for all audiences.”

A deep voice of a White House staffer voices over video — from the Turkey’s perspective — walking through the gate of the West Wing, through the West Wing, into the Oval Office, and ultimately into the Rose Garden, where, the video says dramatically, “one lone turkey will have its plea for clemency answered. A turkey from a bad situation. A turkey from a bad environment. A turkey who has made bad choices. Tomorrow, one turkey gets a second chance.”

You can see the White House’s video here.

Later today the First family will participate in a service event in the Washington, DC area together, as they did last year.
