White House State Dinner Party Crashers

ABC NEWS' Z. Byron Wolf reports:

It’s one of the most secure places on earth, but two Washington area socialites and reality TV wannabes were apparently able to get behind the gates at the White House and mingle with the crowd at the State Dinner in honor of India last night.

The Washington Post has the dish on Tareq and Michaele Salahi, below:

The First Lady’s office told ABC they would have no comment on the crashers and referred all inquiries to the Secret Service.

Secret Service spokesman Ed Donovan confirms that the agency is looking “into a report that two individuals not on the guest list were in the event.”

They sure were. The Post has pictures from Michaele Salahi’s Facebook page that clearly show the two in pictures with attendees at the state dinner and there is video of the two on the red carpet inside the White House grounds.

But Donovan said even if the two were uninvited guests, “Everyone that goes into the white house grounds goes through magnetometers and other levels of screening,” so no one would have been in danger.

Michaele has been reported as being a cast member for the “Real Housewives of DC”.

Donovan said Secret Service is investigating the report. He said the two were not escorted off the premises last night. But it’s also not clear that they ever made it to a seat for dinner.
Also unclear – whether there would be any legal liability for the crashers. Were they trespassing? Did someone help them get in?

ABC’s Tom Giusto and Cindy Smith contributed to this report

RA – You’re right on the money. One needs look no further than the very top of this web page to see the priorities of ABC News. Under their “More News” section, they include links to “Amanda Knox” and “Michael Jackson”.
They have yet to do any World News report on the Navy Seals charged with assault, the hacking of so-called climate “scientists” or the story on Gerald Walpin, the fired IG. How is that possible?

Here’s the integrity of the UK Telegraph . ..
On Thursday, 1 January 2009, The Daily Telegraph published an article with the title “Greenhouse gases could have caused an ice age, claim scientists”, which claimed “Scientists have warned” that “filling the atmosphere with Greenhouse gases associated with global warming could push the planet into a new ice age”. This was a misrepresentation of the work done by the scientists involved, notably Professor Ian Fairchild, however The Daily Telegraph refused to publish an apology, his letter to the paper complaining, and even deleted his comments on the online edition of the article

Posted by: tierra | November 25, 2009, 9:08 pm 9:08 pm

And more on the integrity of the UK Telegraph . . .. the letter from the researcher to the Telegraph, about his research and their article . ..
Sir,
Contrary to the headline about our scientific work that appeared last week on the Telegraph website, high levels of greenhouse gases did not trigger an ice age. In our paper in Science we provided independent evidence for a theory that a hot atmosphere rich in greenhouse gases could coexist with a cold, glacial Earth surface. A planet largely covered in ice and snow (a Snowball Earth) would allow carbon dioxide emitted from volcanoes to build up in the atmosphere over millions of years. We show that this actually happened at a time in the Earth’s history prior to the evolution of animals.
Perhaps it was the prolonged cold snap over Christmas that set the headline writer’s mind racing, but the contemporary relevance of our work is rather different. A Snowball Earth could be re-created, in spite of greenhouse warming. For example, a nuclear war would generate a pall of dust, reflecting sunlight away from the Earth. Also, a proposed technological fix to global warming – launching a mass of tiny sulphate aerosol particles in the atmosphere – could be overdone with the same result. Barring these horrors, we are left with the physical reality of greenhouse warming, despite the vagaries of our wonderfully capricious British weather.
best wishes,
Ian
Ian J. Fairchild
Professor of Physical Geography

This is what happens when you rely on any and everyone to be elected. Perhaps the Obama’s owe many people and now its payday and folks are cashing in on their support.
Perhaps these wedding crashers know that the Obama’s owe them something and they could not be refused to enter. The book of Proverbs 17:8 says, “A bribe is a charm to the one who gives it; wherever he turns, he succeeds.”

I take it these are horse riding socialites who are dear friends of Sheila Johnson. As socialites they attend many many social events, how would this couple along with their other socialite friends react if uninvited people crashed their events.
The Secret Service personnel will probably loose their jobs. But hey when you are a socialite these are just little people right. Let them eat cake.

Posted by: Pach | November 26, 2009, 7:38 am 7:38 am

Poor President Obama. The Secret Service was/is probably so VISUALLY-HUNGRY for an “authentic” loooking Yankee Prez, that they proably were too busy looking around hoping to FINALLY catch a – welcomed – glimpse of this much desired APPARITION.
Poor President Obama…but – poorer still is a stunningly PRIMITIVE-MINDED America in this “enlightened” day and age.

Posted by: Carmen Mills | November 26, 2009, 8:18 am 8:18 am

This is such media fawning it’s ridiculous. It shows the lengths the media still will go to try to fawn over and to elevate Obama.
Ignored routinely of course is the fact unemployment was at 4.6% in 2006 before the Democratic Party took over and that it is now at 10.2%. Ignored routinely is the fact of Obama’s shady associations with Rashid Khalidi, Bill Ayers, Reverend Wright, Stroger, Tony Rezko. Ignored routinely is the fact Obama refuses to order an investigation into the Fort Hood probe. Ignored routinely is the fact Obama’s reckless spending has diminished the private sector and has created an insurmountable debt.

This is funny, really. How many times have people crashed Buckingham Palace? I think they should be fined somehow but not arrested. They went through all the right security checks so the Prez was never in any real danger – it was the invitation check that was flawed!

So it’s the social secretary’s office’s fault. You can’t pin this (all) on the SS.
I hope there’s no bad blood between the two staffs from here on out. It does make them look amateurish and unprofessional.
I think it’s better for america if the Social Secretary’s office takes the fall. It’s not good to have America’s USSS protection take a reputation hit. That involves a whole agency instead of some obscure Social Secretary office staffer.

The last thing we need is one of the characters like Maj Nidal Hassan packing his colon with explosives and setting it off during a photo op for VP Biden or Obama.

It’s very simple.
They didn’t ‘sneak’ in or ‘crash’ the dinner.
They were allowed in with the full knowledge of Obama’s people, who then act oh so surprised so that the press spends all day talking about this triviality instead of anything substantial at the event.
Americans and the American media are so easily manipulated and distracted that this would be child’s play for the White House PR team

I think Bravo should be investigated for letting these two nitwits walk into the White House while their cameras were rolling. We had the balloon boy a couple weeks ago, and now Bravo lets two phonies breach national security for the sake of another godawful reality show. I can’t imagine putting a show in the hands of a producer who does have enough horse sense to smell a potential. felony. I hope they lock these two clowns up for a month or two. They’re obviously half-nutty (you can see it in Micheale’s face) and fully moronic (you can hear it in her writing). And as the story unfolds, we’re finding out they are also just a couple of dumb scammers living a lie among the horsey set. As I’ve always said, there’s no one more gullible than the wealthy, who will buying into any story if they think it will make them more glamourous. What an embarassment.

I’ve always enjoyed the musical “My Fair Lady” with Audrey Hepburn and Rex Harrison. They snuck into a party too.
What’s the big deal if they didn’t have an invitation to the Rich Man’s Party?! Why is Obama partying anyways, while the rest of us are trying to work ourselves out of a recession? If the party is included in the stimulus package then we should all be invited!!!

Posted by: Robert Erickson | December 1, 2009, 10:43 am 10:43 am

I think people should stop giving them the attention they are wanting. The more the media feeds into giving them interviews the happier they will be. What they did was unacceptable, and they need to be punished for it. What if it had been a terrorist? Then what? This just shows people how poor security still is.

I agree with the person who said: “I think people should stop giving them the attention they are wanting”. It is clear that they are looking for fame and fortune, and by the media giving them what they want, fame and fortune for them is not too far in the futre. They are trash trying to climb out of the dumpster—it would be best to do what needs to be done to ensure they are faced with a consequence for their actions, but not to let them climb up the ladder while in the process.
