Abortion: Kyl and Durbin on Health Care Reform’s Thorniest Issue

The abortion language in the Senate health care package is drawing fire
from the left and right.

Senate Minority Whip Jon Kyl told me the bill
“breaks a deal that we’ve had for a long time” that there would be no
federal funding to pay for abortion.  Abortion rights forces in the House
say the compromise is unconstitutional.

Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin told me that though “both sides don’t
like it”, he believes the abortion language is a “reasonable middle
course.”

He asked rhetorically , “Are we going to give up on the
protections that people need so they can have a fighting chance against
health insurance companies because we want to re-litigate the abortion
issue?”

Project 60/60! It has a nice ring to it!
We have 60 months to dump 60 arrogant Obama-serving, self-serving senators, let’s get to work!

Hey why don,t we have Oprah, Barbara Streisand, the teachers union, and the sixty socialist pay for the abortions. Maybe they can open there own franchises and make money off on the side and at the same time proclaim there love of life and the human experience.

The Senate abortion language won’t pass the House.
When the time comes to merge the 2 bills into one, the Senate language will give way to the firmer restrictions in the House bill, or else it’ll be all over for Obamacare.

Abortion due to inconvenience is a foreboding of managed care for the elderly and others that can be considered inconvenient or not worthy of health care expenditures.

John Kyle is worried about the abortion language? Come on John – nobody wants to have federal funds going for abortion. That issue is a no-win situation so let’s move on already. Ben Nelson has already been all over that issue.
