Arianna on Summers: ‘Wrong Man For The Job’

Arianna Huffington blasted the President’s chief economic advisor Larry Summers, calling him “the wrong man to be heading the president’s economic team.”

On the “This Week” Roundtable, Huffington went on to say Summers was, “lackadaisical” and that he had “no sense of urgency” in dealing with the economy.

Republican strategist Ed Gillespie said he thought it was interesting that “Summers accelerated his anticipation for job creation to begin in the spring.  In the past, the White House had been saying the second half of next year.”

Huffington was dismissive of Summers’ forecasts, calling them “utterly meaningless.”

But what if he’s right?

Well, I guess we could all hope that a city of a population well over 150,000 will have more than 1 side of 1 page of job ads in the Sunday paper by spring but let’s just say I’m not holding my breath.
You people are so out of touch.

All of their energy has been on passing healhcare reform, probably because some Rebublican had said it was the defining point of Obamas presidency. The fact is the economy and jobs will be what he and all democrats will be judged and if they push this healthcare thru they will be looking for new positions themselves, 60 some % of the people dont want this bill as it is written now.

Bingo…. What a distraction-talking about Health reforms when people do not have the jobs. Are we capituating to Comrade Lenin, to give afree lunch?Oh, I get it.It is all political—be a sport, eat cakes if you can not have bread.

George, you and your round table bretheren should have been pressing them also on unemployment extensions. As it stands, all of the current extensions end by December 31st. Lots of people are going to be in jeopardy if the Congress doesn’t get off the healthcare shtick and pass extending unemployment benefits throughout 2010.

It’s actually quite simple. We have a health care crisis because many people are uninsured. People are uninsured because health care insurance costs too much. Health care insurance costs too much because insurance companies charge too much. Insurance companies charge too much because doctors, hospitals, and big pharma charge too much. It all adds up to a nice little symbiotic and monopolistic circle of greed in which the people are the victims.

Yikes!
I saw the Summers interview.
I doubt he’d be the right man for any job let alone a chief economic advisor to the president.

Currently, I can’t work due to a transient disability that may lead to my untimely death. That said, if the doctors manage to cure me, I’d like to think there’s a possibility of going back to work at a reasonable wage and that all the jobs haven’t been handed over on the auspices of redistributing wealth that I’ve never acheiveed. Although, I found out that the President is in fact an optimist–he graded himself with a B-plus in terms of job performance. It makes me think back to David Stockman’s book about the Reagan Whitehouse and the “pony principle.” Yes Mr. President, there’s a pony in there somewhere! And, it might be Larry Summers.

Adrianna is right, didn’t Summers get a big payoff of millions before he took this job? What for? He doesn’t seem the least bit worried about the everday American struggling without a job, without homes….not when you have millions in the bank account eh Larry?
Obama needs to clean house- all of his advisors are all millionaires ten times over….disgusting to most Americans.
