Rep. Peter King’s 15 Questions for Desiree Rogers
ABC News’ Yunji de Nies reports: Congressman Peter King, R-N.Y., didn’t get the subpoena for White House Social Secretary Desiree Rogers that he wanted yesterday, which would have forced her answer questions about the now notorious White House party crashers. The Homeland Security Committee rejected the ranking member’s request, so today the New York congressman sent Rogers a letter with 15 questions focusing on how Michaele and Tareq Salahi were able to get in to the White House State Dinner honoring the Indian Prime Minister – uninvited. “Clearly, it creates an unjustifiable risk to bring the President face to face with individuals who have not been properly vetted,” Rep. King writes. “For the Committee to understand fully how this breach in security occurred at the White House, it is essential for the Committee to take testimony from the White House official who is responsible for the creation and vetting of the guest list.” Presumably that person is Desiree Rogers, though she has declined to speak to King’s committee, invoking executive privilege, so he starts the list with a basic question: “What are your official duties as Social Secretary during a State Dinner?” The rest of Rep. King’s questions focus largely on procedures that night. He asks why no from Roger’s staff nor from the Office of Legislative Affairs was at the entrance: “Why was the usual practice of prior administrations not followed for the State Dinner held on November 24, 2009?” Teresa Foss-Conlan, a friend of the aspiring reality TV couple, told Larry King that Micheale Salahi had spoken with the Social Secretary about the dress code in advance of the dinner. Rep. King asks if Rogers was aware of such a phone call. He ends by asking if Rogers has made any changes to prevent a similar security breach in the future. The Congressman wants his answers no later than December 23. Read King’s Letter HERE.

“I used to support President Barack Obama, I really did, but with all due respect”
Except you never supported Obama which is fine.
Why you lie about it I am unsure beyond most right wingers being pathological liars.

You’ve got to admire our Greatest Clueless Leader for his ability to create a trail of lights over the Norwegian sky riding his UFO (Utopian Force One).
That certainly is worthy of a Nobel.

Those sound like some reasonable questions.

@ryanc
Yes Ryan… Obama’s poll numbers have NOT gone down.
Anyone that says they voted for him and now says otherwise is a liar.
And anyone that criticizes Obama is a racist.
Just lovely stuff.

I can help.
PK: What are your official duties as Social Secretary during a State Dinner?
DR: As Social Secretary, I am a guest, a dignitary if you will. My purpose is to rub elbows with the rich, famous and ppolitically powerful. It is a payback for my early support of Barack Obama.
So, yes, I am a guest at these functions. I am certainly not expected to have any *gesturing air quotes* ‘official duties’ during parties, that is beneath me.
I am expected to look beautiful, which I always do, and have light and flirty conversations with the other guests. Oh, and I am not to be photographed with Michelle, only Barack, I mean, Mr. President. Next question?

I’m stunned that the questioning of Rogers has not been allowed. Executive privilege? For a social secretary?
I am not an Obama supporter, but I don’t want to see the man hurt. This was obviously a HUGE problem, and EVERY ONE involved SHOULD be questioned, and questioned HEAVILY. I don’t know the exact responsibilities of the social secretary, but I would assume they would include more than photo ops and smiles. If she was in charge of the guest list, then she needs to be held responsible as well as Security. She NEEDS to be questioned.

the protection of the Pres is the job of the secret service, social secretary non-withstanding, if your name is not on a list, you’re not supposed to get in …… period……. let alone being passed on through multiple secret service checks…..

With all due respect, Rep. King, I have question number ll. to ask of Ms. Rogers:
How did ex-convict, Robert Creamer, secure an invitation to the White House and was he waved in, or vetted? I don’t think there has ever been an ex-con invited to the White House before the Obama administration. Strange friends this guy surrounds himself with, don’t you think? Creamer must be a friend of the White House because the POTUS is following the Manifesto written by Creamer regarding a Government take-over of Health Care, to the letter!! Curious.

Oh don’t be naive and disingenuous, you had an active criminal sitting in the Vice-President’s office during the last administration. Charged, tried and convicted – Scooter Libby.
Many, many criminals and convicts have been ‘invited’ into the White House.
Remember the Watergate break ins? Under the Republican Richard Nixon.

Peter King you are sitting on my Dime month after month Doing nothing for America…I have 15 questions for you. Get a Job and stop using the seat for personal gain, maggot!

Since when it was the job of the social secretary to protect our President? Is this all you do in Washington these days? Yep, because the Republicans early on decided that the only way they had a chance to regain their “power” was to obstruct anything the President of the United States and this congress came up with. Rep. King, you’re you work for the American people….not your agenda. There are real issues facing the families of this country that YOU helped created by signing on to ANYTHING that Bush wanted.

Can you believe it, folks? We have a “Social Secretary” … problem a good old Chicage chum of either the POTUS or FLOTUS….and she ain’t talking about whatever role her “office” does or doesn’t play in this mess….which really goes beyond the Obamas if you think about it. Hey, what the hell, “executive privilege” is executive privilege…..before one knows it, we will have to provide ID to comment on stuff like this, won’t we? God, how I miss experienced folk in Washington. Training wheels, anyone?

Look, you can’t excuse this breach of security. In the Navy the captain is always responsible; Rogers is the closest thing to a captain here and she should go.Period.When has a gatecrasher ever got into a state dinner like this.

or maybe, AG ‘Gonzo’ who can’t remember that he can’t remember, or, the youngster who was placed in charge of building an Iraqi stock market with no clue or experience, or, Dusty Fogo, or the ‘genius’ who stated all major combat operations in Iraq are done, .. so many to choose from

correct, and the secret service IS responsible
“The fact that party crashers were allowed into a White House state dinner without being on the guest list is emblematic of the Secret Service’s corner cutting …. “It’s clear from the Secret Service’s comment that the agency not only ignored the fact that the couple was not on the guest list but also did not do the usual background check to ensure that they were not possible threats.”
Secret Service spokesman Edward Donovan, conceding that “our procedure wasn’t followed,”
“The fact that the couple was allowed in this dangerous age is a disgrace and is symptomatic of lax standards at the Secret Service ever since it was absorbed by the Department of Homeland Security in 2003,”

Good grief! Why is the lady being belabored? She is apparently a very capable woman. Someone just forgopt to rewrite the job specs for the job title she is working.
Rewrite the job specs so the work of social secretary is divided with a talented executive providing the logistical planning and execution, and some grunt standing at the gate and presiding over guest lists.
By the way, I think that Obama is an abomination as President, second only to the nincompoop Jimmy Carter, who installed the Ayatollahs in Iran. Obama is possibly even worse than Jimmy, but circumstances just haven’t contrived to enable him to do something even worse – yet. That said, his “social secretary” has been nothing short of brilliant in marketing the White House.
