ABC News' Jon Garcia reports:
The only scheduled event during President Obama's Hawaii vacation so far will happen shortly after 1pm (est) today when he breaks his silence about the attempted terrorist act on Christmas Day. White House officials tell us that Obama will talk to a small pool of reporters about the steps he is taking in the wake of the failed attack. He will make the statement at the Marine Corps Base Hawaii–the military installation located about five minutes from the Presidential vacation home. (This will be Obama's fifth trip to the base in the last three days. He works out at the gym there every morning, he greeted military personnel there on Christmas and yesterday he took his family to the beach there, too.)
White House aides remind us that Obama continues to get his regular briefings and has been holding teleconferences on the failed terrorist attack on Northwest flight 253. Other than those events, the President's schedule remains private and unplanned during his vacation.
