Think about what you’re saying. How is Obama supposed to as the POTUS focus on minority issues exclusively. It’d be the fastest way to a 4 year term you could imagine.

I find it offensive that any person can determine someones race based on their own illogical opinions. Some of the comments made on this blog further reinforce my own theory that racisim is not dead just often hiding. It takes events such as the election of a BLACK man to the highest office in the USA to bring it to the fore front. I also find it offensive for any white person to ever compare their lives with a person of color…EVER…there are social experiences that you will NEVER experience that people of color do. I don’t care that Obama is half black or half white. I’m dutch, german, french and english. That isn’t how I represent myself. Obama represented himself as black. Some people only see him as a black man. If he had white skin they would NOT have viewed him in such a manner. I see people for the soul that is within them, judge them based on the content of their character. Those words resonate with me. This world is a much better place for having had MLK Jr. in it. Obama is no MLK. Actions speak louder than words.

Racism goes both ways. People of all races have their own cross to bear and overcome. I agree, racism is alive. It is misplaced though. To group people by color is wrong. They should instead be grouped by their actions. I have plenty of black friends who feel the same way. I have no understanding for what their forefathers went through. I only know that they have choice to overcome it. Evidenced by the election of a “Black” president. You have a choice in your own future. Make it what you will.

Some of you just don’t get it and perhaps never will. What this man said or inferred is offensive. Basically, if you shine shoes that makes you more of a Black person. And what you also do not get is this;and, if you think about it, such an assumption is equally offensive. It is most often of little relevance whether an African American is of varying ethnic makeups, is Harvard educated or from the school of hard knocks, is single or married, saint or sinner, republican or democrat when it comes to sharing the common experience of race. So for all who think there is this magical “get out of being Black free card”, you are seriously mistaken.

The NAACP and CBC are cool with Reid accusing Obama of faking his Negro dialect whenever he wants to, and insulting dark-skinned African Americans.
They’re cool with it and don’t fine Reid’s comments offensive because he has done so much for minorities.
In other words A democrat can call African Americans anything they want as long as they keep pumping out entitlements/handouts.

This whole issue is a tempest in a teapot. Reid, in a PRIVATE remark, was merely and unmaliciously pointing out the obvious. Everyone except those who are sightless can see that Pres. Obama is a light-skinned, highly educated African-American. Undoubtedly, he can speak “Ebonically” if he wants to, depending upon who he’s with and the circumstances. However, highly educated southerners and Texans, when they’re “down home,” don their regional dialects like a comfortable old bathrobe, thereby becoming almost unintelligible to the rest of us.

This is but one of two completely idiotic stories on ABC News today. The other is one about Avatar having racial overtones. It’s amazing what passes for news these days.

Harry Reid made a left handed compliment about President Obama. Lott suggested that a segregationist should have been elected. That is clear comment that he thought Blacks and Whites should be separated. I have in my possession some very racist email that have been sent to me by Republicans. The GOP claimed there was no racist signs when the tea partiers demonstrated. That would include signs with Obama dresses in African headdress and a bone in his nose. They also brushed over the email showing the white house with watermelons growing in the front yard. Sorry.. The drama kings and gueens haven’t got a case on this one.

I think that a deeper concern than what Harry Reid or any other American of European heritage is saying is less important than what “Blacks” say to each other, even in public in front of them. Why should black Americans have to become ‘white’ to succeed?
Though they should use correct grammer and avoid slang (which is what all races in America should do to appear professional and educated) they should not have to forsake their heritage to succeed.
I’m Caucasian myself. I would like to hear from black Americans if I’m offbase.

When I was teaching I was not allowed to correct the kids pronunciation and grammar because it was considered part of their “culture.” We fail children because of political correct nonsense.

This information is not news worthy. Why do you have a need to continue report on information that is null and void. You continue to show your prejudice and hate against people of color. It is difficult for an American who loves this country, to read racist articles by a young man who reports for ABC news, when he should be reporting for Fox news. John McCain, and Orin Hatch voted against Martin Luther King Day. Harry Reid voted for Martin Luther King Day.

I spoke ebonics for three days when i first came to America when my dad heard me he shut it down right away. When i was child growing up in my birth country my parents made sure we spoke properly so I’ve never known that speaking the way i do somehow it makes me less black and it’s very painful when people tell you’re not black because you do this or that. This guy is dumb. Why must we focus so much on race it’s so annoying everywhere you turn every person you talk to the conversation is RACE.
