Brown: ‘Humbled’ by White House Talk, But Doesn’t Rule Out 2012 Run

Senator-elect Scott Brown’s stunning victory for the Massachusetts Senate seat once held by Ted Kennedy has many Republicans hoping he’ll make a White House bid.

When Barbara Walters, in her EXCLUSIVE This Week interview, asked Brown if he’d rule out a 2012 run, he said he found it humbling, but he wouldn’t say no.

Brown told Walters his focus would be on his family and his new role as the 41st Republican Senator and said he’ll “let the political pundits…talk about that stuff”.

He’s pro choice and pro civil unions. He will NEVER get the GOP nod to run as POTUS unless he flip-flops on these 2 issues……..

As soon as Republicans find a candidate that makes a splash they want them to run for President. E.g. Sarah Palin. Amazingly desperate and dumb.

Posted by: plantain_11 | January 31, 2010, 8:48 am 8:48 am

Is that all it takes to be a Republican Presidential candidate? Just win one time? Or, is it the centerfold? And, the most amazing thing is this guy is really considering it. Republicans do have a way of deluding themselves.

Plantain – style over substance?

Republicans needs more liberals like him to bring the party in 21st century. He is a democratic in republican platform. Good for the nation. Backwards should go backward.

Never served in the Senate yet…state government is different than federal, and He’s going to put his Good Looks forward to be President?

If Brown is pro choice and wins the presidency both parties will have been corrupted.

Posted by: Daniel James | January 31, 2010, 9:12 am 9:12 am

This is pathetic. The guy hasn’t even SERVED (voted) as a U.S. Sen. and he is being talked about Pres. run? The GOP is truly desperate.

Oh, please.

Posted by: bevmax | January 31, 2010, 9:46 am 9:46 am

The GOP would probably throw us a Brown/Palin ticket. Spend 90 percent of the time smearing Obama and wonder why they lost again. That’s their norm these days.

Posted by: AW | January 31, 2010, 9:47 am 9:47 am

To Sara: Memory is short! Isn’t that exactly what Barack Obama did??? Illinois senate directly to the White House, hmmm. Maybe before your time, but check the history for John F.Kennedy’s path to the same residence, via looks and money.

Posted by: robertdawe | January 31, 2010, 9:49 am 9:49 am

Oh, please. While Brown certainly doesn’t have the experience to be thinking about becoming President in a few years, he has more political experience than our current President did, two years before he ran. (And no, being a community organizer doesn’t count).

Posted by: octogalore | January 31, 2010, 9:51 am 9:51 am

Photos and a pickup truck is all that is needed for some Reps to think he is White House ready. Shoot some think Palin is Presidential material so Brown must be a genius to them.

I miss Stephanopoulos. He would hold people to answering the question. His talents are wasted on GMA. Jake Tapper did a very good job last week and would be a great replacement to George. Walters is a lightweight and did not pressure Scott Brown to answer the questions. He seems to be the new Ken Doll.

Posted by: Michael | January 31, 2010, 10:03 am 10:03 am

At this point it doesn’t matter who they throw out there – Obama is ‘one and done’ and even he knows it if you listen to his own comments! See ya – Jimmy Carter II ..

Posted by: Marcus | January 31, 2010, 10:03 am 10:03 am

So All the Obama haters said he didn’t have any experience being a one term Senator but this guy does? Wow what a bunch of silly hypocrites

Posted by: bp | January 31, 2010, 10:04 am 10:04 am

No!. no, No, NO!!! We’re already suffering through one flash-in-the-pan. The last thing we need to do is elect another one, no matter how good he looks. Didn’t we learn anything?

Posted by: creeper | January 31, 2010, 10:10 am 10:10 am

This is not newsworthy, it is gossip. We already a presidency of style over substance already. How’s that been working out for the American people. Let’s devote more headline space to the balloon boy’s jailed parents!

Posted by: pamp205 | January 31, 2010, 10:26 am 10:26 am

This country has embraced any one who authors couple of books and is able to market it the good and has a little backing from greedy people as a Presidential Leadership material. Policies and beliefs are only the Springboard for success. When one dives and comes up successful that will be his driving fuel for rest of the term. Politics is a game of hypocrites for any party. Just as a Leader is considered for a particular flock which can add or drop its constituents without hesitation.

Posted by: RoundTbl | January 31, 2010, 10:27 am 10:27 am

AT LEAST Scott Brown is serious about his role in MA, works hard including weekends. Has anyone noticed that OUR President has enough time in his agenda to “play” basketball radio commentator, but NOT enough time for a quick trip to Haiti?? He suffers from “post presidential narcissism” and thinks that he has everyone “fooled”. Not by a LongScott!:)

Posted by: ScottguardnotObamalard | January 31, 2010, 10:31 am 10:31 am

And for you posters commenting on how Obama is not much better than this guy, you obviously missed the Baltimore Q and A. Obama made every repub member look like a idiotic school kid and countered every one of their lying ‘talking points’ with facts and substance. To think this centerfold dude has half the intelligence as Obama is just like saying Palin does. Sad commentary on you and the repub party that you don’t even know the difference.

Posted by: pamp205 | January 31, 2010, 10:34 am 10:34 am

He is wrong about federal workers making more than contractors, I am federal worker, contractors make more and are usually retired federal workers double dipping. Also think about serviceman and Blackwater employees, which make about $10,000 a month.

Posted by: Tim | January 31, 2010, 10:37 am 10:37 am

This whole trend of leading with inexperience is troubling. Barack Obama has turned out to be a disastrous learn on the job president, do we really want to go out and get another like Palin or Brown?
I suppose it’s a Catch-22, you either get a professional politician who may wreck the national economy or some tin-horn who all but certainly will. This is the curse of two party politics.

I’m glad the guy won the Senate race, but how pitiful are the Republicans for even talking about him making a run at the White House? This is as pathetic as the hoopla surrounding the very likable but totally unfit Sarah Palin.
I won’t vote for a Republican (or a Democrat) but can’t they do better? What happened to Romney? Are the power brokers afraid he might actually stand up for his principles?

Did Barbara Walters expand the already 24/7 anti-Obama platform today by giving Roger Ailes even more time; or, did someone else make this appalling decision?
I’m a fan of Barbara, and that will not change. However if the trend continues with FOX guests (Lis Cheney, Sarah Palin and Roger Ailes) I will campaign against “This Sunday”, I feel that strongly about it!

“Never served in the Senate yet…state government is different than federal, and He’s going to put his Good Looks forward to be President?”
Unfortunately, the American people vote for someone who is charming, but is not smart. That is a very sad truth. The American public should read more instead of watching TV. The American people do not take into account someone who is smart. Furthermore, the Republicans will support anyone (remember George W. Bush, Sarah Palin); the Republicans just want power. Having said that, they will support anyone.

Posted by: Lesly | January 31, 2010, 11:15 am 11:15 am

Hey, I know a guy that knows a guy, that knows a guy, that knows a guy that once voted Republican. Surely, this qualifies him to run for office in 2012. Yeah, he also wants to be President too. Got my vote. Desperate people do desperate things. Hey, why not Joe the Plumber, he’s qualified too.

Scott Brown is a total EMPTY SUIT. Normally I would ask how he OR ANYONE could look into the camera and tell me and the rest of the united states public that Sarah Palin has the capacity to be president, but that would be to question his obvious superficial character. He is indeed a good look’n gent who has a shot at political fame and (just like the good-look’n Palin) can end up with a great book-deal and a possible commentator slot, or even his own right-wing television show. This is all about himself. Smile for the camera Scotty, you’re on!

Posted by: RinSB | January 31, 2010, 11:27 am 11:27 am

Barbara Walters is a laughing stock. ABC is turning This Week into the garbage “news” they are showing everyday. It is really a shame that our media is so focused on a centerfold picture from 20 years ago rather than focusing on today’s really political issues. Thank you for turning America’s attention to gossip rather than assisting in educating and informing the public of true issues. This is pathetic.

The American people aren’t going to elect Newt, Mitt, or any of the current crop. Face the facts so we don’t lose in 2012.

You all just described your beloved President – all STYLE no SUBSTANCE

Well all Mr. Brown has to do is spend 151 days as a US Senator and he’ll have more experience than the current occupier.
He should go for it. The election of Obama clearly proved that ones experience and track record means nothing anymore.

needs to accomplish something more than getting elected to the Senate before he
starts running for President…On that I hope there can be bi-partisan agreement…………..

I don’t think he’s qualified to be president. He’s still a fresh face and untested.. I want Mitt Romney for President. A man who has both political and business experience. Scott will do himself good to spend a few years in the senate learning about the system before going out and trying to change it.

Posted by: prv.bryan | January 31, 2010, 1:54 pm 1:54 pm

all these posters saying that Repubs go after ‘pretty boys’ without achievement…. Hmmmmm Obama anyone?
The fact of the matter is that almost every time Repubs go after elder statesmen with long histories, GWB being an exception (but whose resume dwarfs Obama’s). Think about it: McCain, Dole, GHW Bush, Reagan, Ford, Nixon, Goldwater, Ike, etc. Every single one of them was an elder statesmen at the time of their nomination.
Lets see the Dems- Obama, Gore, Clinton, Dukakis, Mondale, Carter, McGovern, Humphrey, Johnson, Kennedy, Stevenson. Pretty much 50-50 as to elders and insurgents.
Brown has ZERO chance cuz Repubs take their nominations seriously.

Too bad no one will correct the media….errrr the only attempt to correct will be (and has been to)try and silent the Rush’s, Sean’s, Beck’s,and O’Reilly’s of the media world. The difference is that the aforementioned clowns are recognized for reporting their opinions/positions and ABC, NBC, CBS, etc exists to report…period. Obama ran for President after being Senator for just 2 years….Brown would have been Senator for 2 years if he ran in 2012 as well. Though I’d actually argue that Brown has more experience serving out country as a state Senator (as did Obama), town Selectman (like a mayor), town Accessor, and had several REAL jobs working for various companies, earning paychecks and paying bills like the average American.
Obama went from student to law professor to lawyer/community organizer to Senator getting real estate deals from Rezko and getting in tight with the Chicago politician scene…

Brown acknowledged he hadn’t even served a day yet as a Senator, and said that his focus was on representing the people of Massachusetts. That doesn’t make him a “Ken Doll.” Sounds like a good bit of jealousy driving these comments. If you don’t like the way you look, get over it. Don’t take it out on this guy. All he did was run a smart campaign, spending weeks listening to people around his state, and a majority of the people trusted him with their vote. That’s democracy, not American idol.

Posted by: Randy | January 31, 2010, 3:02 pm 3:02 pm

Amazing how Scott Brown is being called out by dems for not having experience. New to the Senate? Good looks, and that’s not enough?Sounds familiar doesn’t it?

Posted by: Marco | January 31, 2010, 3:02 pm 3:02 pm

This guy is no more POTUS material than Obama.
But, at least he isn’t a Socialist, so I would vote for him over Obama any day IF that’s all the choice I had.
But, you people had better get this through the fog. Obama IS a one termer.
It’s not about if he would get elected again, HE WON’T run again!
Mark my words, come April 2012, he will bow out of the run. Maybe Clinton? But, in my opinion, since she has admitted to being a “new age progressive” she won’t win as that will be the attack ads against her. By that time, America will be so sick of Progressives, they could not win Spittoon Mopper.
I have my reasons to say this. But won’t. I won’t argue about it, so no use saying why he won’t run.
It’s only 2 years to wait and see. AND he has already gave clues, and will continue to do so. Just remember where you heard it.

Posted by: RoBoTech | January 31, 2010, 3:08 pm 3:08 pm

Why wouldn’t he? Seems to me a young upstart Senator from ILL began running for the White House at almost the same time he entered the Senate. What we really need is experienced people running, not neophites like Obama and Brown.

Posted by: Will Jones | January 31, 2010, 3:09 pm 3:09 pm

I like Scott Brown but we don’t need another inexperienced senator for president. Wait a decade.

Posted by: Keith | January 31, 2010, 3:16 pm 3:16 pm

Brown certainly has more experience in governance than “The One” – - and is a whole lot better looking! If “The One” can run after a few weeks in the Senate, why not a more experienced Senator?

Posted by: Segeny | January 31, 2010, 3:16 pm 3:16 pm

not that I agree he should be thinking about a White HOuse run, which I doubt he is, doesn’t this appear a bit like current President…not much experience before running for President? Maybe it’s the media who would like to see this happen?

Posted by: coach28 | January 31, 2010, 3:17 pm 3:17 pm

This just shows you how week the current president is, nothing more nothing less.
Who ever comes out of the Republican primaries has a great chance of becoming the next President of the United States.

Posted by: betweentheeyes | January 31, 2010, 3:18 pm 3:18 pm

After hiring a doofus like Barack Hussein Obama, I think we will be very careful about future candidates and where they stand on key issues. Let Scott “make his bones” in the U S Senate for a couple of years before jumping to conclusions about the presidency.

Although I do not believe he will receive the GOP nomination, I find it ironic that people are critical of someone who has only been in state government considering running for president after getting elected to the Senate. Sound familiar to me.

Posted by: Joe | January 31, 2010, 3:28 pm 3:28 pm

No way Brown will be able to compete with the overwhelming wisdom and experience of our current president, who served ably in a variety of government positions and exhibited great leadership for years before running for president.
Oh, wait, that’s right. Barack got admitted to Harvard through affirmative action, got humiliated in a campaign for the House, gave a good speech off of a teleprompter in 2004, and that’s pretty much it.
So I guess it’s Brown in ’12.

Posted by: Leo | January 31, 2010, 3:28 pm 3:28 pm

Right now it is the left leaning media outlets that are pushing this notion of Senator Brown running in 2012. To the people living in glass houses; Funny, how all the “Obamites” are now opining how inexperienced Senator Brown is, and should disqualify him from seeking higher office. Where was that sentiment when our current president was barely sworn in as senator when he hit the campaign trail, but of course he did take his position seriously enough to vote “present” 90% of the time he was there. If there are people excited over the prospect over a Brown run in 2012, it is the canary in the coal mine as to just how dissatisfied most of America is at our present direction. I voted for Senator Brown in the belief that he will be different and actually live up to his campaign promises,to do what is right for the people of Massachusetts AND America.

To all of those who cite Scott Brown’s lack of experience, exactly how much experience did President Obama have when he started his run for the White house? Much less. Mr. Brown was present for his many votes in the MA Senate, also.

Posted by: p8triotRI | January 31, 2010, 4:26 pm 4:26 pm

Ok, so I don’t think he is ready for a presidential run… but neither was Obama – he is a truly scary clueless wonder. I’d vote for Scott, but would prefer to see someone who’s been around longer. I’ve disagreed with Newt on a few things lately, but he could certainly be one of the smartest and experienced people the GOP could offer up.

At least S. Brown seems to have a governmental compass, i.e. he seems to know where to go with governmental decisions/ideas. Unlike the current leader of the executive branch. All he’s done since he’s been in office is buy votes. I could do better than the current potus and I have no experience at all. But I do know how to read the constitution. What a maroon!

To everyone ripping on Republicans for wanting to run for President after making a big public splash — BARBARA WALTERS ASKED HIM THE QUESTION. He didn’t bring it up, SHE ASKED HIM. Blame the media, but don’t blame Brown or Republicans. The media wants to hype popular Republicans as potential presidential candidates in order to cut their knees out from under them well before election time rolls around, and you all are happily obliging.

You don’t need to serve in the US Senate in order to be President. Bill Clinton only reached the post of Governor of a state, as did George W Bush. You guys are so desperate to bash and berate Brown, when your little tool Obama rose through the ranks even faster than Brown, and did even less at each level. All that said, he has too many stances that would be unpopular in a Republican presidential candidate, so this is all much ado about nothing.

Posted by: heydumba55e5 | January 31, 2010, 5:18 pm 5:18 pm

So Scott Brown will be the next Obama, the US will never learn electing unproven folks leads to disaster look at the white house right now the wheels are coming off the cart as we speak and we are encouraging a guy to run for president who hasn’t even started his Senator job sort of like a Nobel Peace Prize winner who advocates everything but peace (Obama)

What ever happened to the good ol’ days when you actually had to achieve something before running for President?? Oh and for all of you commentators who are talking as if this is purely a Republican problem… just look at who is currently in the Whitehouse. Barack Obama is the ultimate example of someone whose style and charisma catapulted him into a position of authority for which he had little to no experience with whatsoever. By the time 2012 roles around, Brown will have had about as much experience as BO.. not much.
So quit the hyprocrisy.

Already the Left tosses out empty character attacks, playing their typical Saul Alinsky game. But this populist movement will not be stopped. The anger at Washington D.C. is intense, and the Left can toss out vacuous charges and insults at each figure who emerges as a leader, but this won’t help them at all. Because there is no shortage of others waiting in the wings, and even if the smear Brown, he is merely the messenger.
Here’s the bitter truth for the Left. Either the Democrats get their house in order, and end their obsession with huge deficits and intrusive government, or Brown (and/or the many others like him) will be calling the shots in the very near future.

Wow.
The level of insanity is staggering! On so many levels!
First the facts: As so many folks have pointed out, no Republican has asked Scott Brown to run for President. Walters asked Brown if he would run and he laughed it off as the incredibly stupid question it was. The only thing stupider than Walters’ question was ABC’s spin: “BROWN REFUSES TO RULE OUT RUN!” Not quite a “have you quit beating your wife” moment, but biased and shock-mongering enough to make the National Enquirer blush.
Next, the knee-jerk anti-GOP commenters can’t be bothered to actually, I don’t know, WATCH the video and exercise critical thought, but instead immediately parrot the supremely biased reporting of the monumentally stupid question, and we end up with people bashing the GOP for something THEY NEVER DID!
And the part that actually pushes the issue from the absurd to surreal, the issue is that Scott Brown is unqualified for the job because he has no experience! The man’s elected career is roughly equivalent to that of the current President, and if you count his tenure as a Wrentham selectman, even longer! It may not be a sterlnig resume for the next President of the United States, but it matches up pretty well with the current one.
Ah, only in America can a massively biased news organization twist a supremely idiotic loaded question and get such a vitriolic response from so vociferously self-conflicted an audience.
Pass the popcorn, 2010 is going to be a heck of a ride…

FYI–Chris Matthews started that rumor on Jan.19th, before Coakley conceded.
I doubt that Palin or Brown would seek
the nomination, especially after the non-experienced Obama. Of course, both of these individuals have far more
experience than Obama.

Obama is no looker and he certainly doesn’t know how to speak without a teleprompter. So to compare him and Brown is like comparing a piece of crap with a Cuban cigar.

Ok Easy does it….now lets not get carried away here. Why don’t we see how well he does first before we start calling for his presidencey. If memory serves me correctly Arnold Swachzenneger, Sarah Palin and Barack Obama were all hyped to the the moon. and look how they all turned out. Look the Republicans can have their guns and their freedom. Obama can keep the change….Meanwhile I’m going to wait and see how well Scott Brown before I start calling for his presidency

I would rather have someone as president that is in touch with what the average person thinks rather than any “professional politician” or com munity organizer anyday. Scott Brown probably knows what the average American thinks better than any of the people in the White house or either hose of congress. He spent the last 6 months meeting with the actual Americans that will be voting alot of these jokers out of office in November. I’d vote for him.

Posted by: joesockit | January 31, 2010, 11:04 pm 11:04 pm

Some of you liberal morons take the cake. You have the most inexperience person without any substance in the White House NOW and you have the nerve to complain about Scott Brown being without substance. Give me a frickin’ break! If Brown runs as president you cannot complain that he had only spent 150 days in the Senate and the only political experience he has had prior to the US Senate is that he was a state senator. (Sounds a lot like that fool Obama.)
The difference between “Empty Suit” and Brown is that Brown’s politics and beliefs are closer to the mainstream of America.
You are about to lose your precious majority this year and in 2012 you will see “Empty Suit” go back to Chicago, where he should have never left.
Scott Brown is not necessarily pro-choice, btw.
And what is up with the “pro-civil unions” thing? He is not pro gay marriage, if that’s what you mean. I think most Americans prefer a gay couple have civil unions than to declaring their unions as a “marriage”. Don’t get civil unions and marriage mixed up!
As a libertarian I would rather government get out of the marriage game all together and return it to the religious sector. The government should only allow people to register/recognize their relationships for practical legal reasons. The government’s job is just to say that the couple came in and wanted to recognize that they are a couple. This is a CIVIL Union.
If the couple wishes to take a further step and have their relationship sanctioned by a religious body, that should be their prerogative. And there they can call it a MARRIAGE.

He’ll have more legislative experience than Obama when announced his plans to run.
Brown only needs to associate with some domestic terrorists and attend a radical racist church to complete his credentials.

Posted by: Alina Dominguez | January 31, 2010, 11:49 pm 11:49 pm

octogalore, while it’s true Brown has more political experience than does President Bush — Brown began his political career when he was elected to be a property assessor in 1992 — your comment that community organizing implies the President didn’t have any experience in politics directly except for such organizing. In fact, President Obama served in the Illinois state legislature and in the U.S. Senate, the latter a bit of an advantage, since it was *national* experience, in contrast to Brown’s longer experience, but experience limited to the local and state levels. On the othe4r hand, Brown does have something else in his biography Obama doesn’t: a military career in the National Guard, in which he is now a lieutenant colonel. That always plays well with a great many voters. But in any case, President Obama’s election to the presidency wasn’t the same as “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.”

I have to laugh at those here who persecute Brown, or Palin, when it was they that elected a one term senator with no experience, that has proven himself to be an utter embarrassment to this country. Palin was a governor and Brown a long time state senator. Each is infinately more qualified that the current White House occupant.

The nation has learned the lesson of electing someone with little experience – and Mr. Brown’s pro-abortion statements recently will effectively turn away people who voted for him in this election because they thought he respected the sanctity of life.
He shouldn’t have been so quick to turn on the beliefs of those who just elected him
I for one, would never vote for him again.

I LOVE how everyone who commented here is ignoring the fact that Obama spent exactly two seconds in the Senate and did NOTHING before running for President. Part of the reason he won was due to his propaganda, good lucks and intense rhetoric. If that’s not fluff, I don’t know what is.
I DO certainly hope that Senator Brown will take some time to get EXPERIENCE before he runs into a higher office. In a few years he might be the right candidate. But ONLY in a few years.

What’s funny about all you liberals saying “just win once and Republicans want to run him for President”. Well, who do you think is in the White House today? If Scott Brown ran and won in 2012, he would have just as much experience coming in as Obama did, and look where that’s got us. A president that is in way over his head. Typical liberal hypocrisy.

Posted by: landfall | February 1, 2010, 8:13 am 8:13 am

Mr. Brown may want to consider a head deflation in the near future. He won because people are angry, just like Obama won because he’s black. Neither one has some great, definitive message for the country. Moreover, Brown better watch that he doesn’t become, again, like Obama, a political caricature. We’ve had enough of one dimensional hypocrites who believe more in their own press than anything else. Advice to Mr. Brown: shut up and go to work.

Posted by: DManzi | February 1, 2010, 8:25 am 8:25 am

Scott Brown will have the same experience in the Senate that Obama had but the Dem pundits always have double standards. The Dems can run people like John Edwards for President but the Repubs can’t run a governor like Palin for VP….Mr. Brown has qualities that are vastly lacking in the Dem Party leadership of Reid and Pelosi. He has common sense and focuses on solving problems, not liberal ideology that will bankrupt the country and produce more pain than gain.

Posted by: Proverb | February 1, 2010, 8:27 am 8:27 am

wernervonphooey, Keep on watching cartoons and reading cereal boxes for your information.
Scott Brown held elected offices as a Town Assessor, then Town Board of Selectmen, then State House representative in 1998, where he served for 6 years. He won the state senate in 2004 and now US Senator-elect. (BTW, the Dem controlled Legislature intentionally takes their time in seating him, even though they previously sat Dem. Nicky Tzongas in TWO days.)
Prior to all this Scott Brown has served 30 years in the Army National Guard, most recently as Lieutenant Colonel.
Compare this to BHO’s “experience” is a no-brainer to be polite (A joke to be real)? BHO: Community Organizer, 2 Years in US Senate. PERIOD
Before this, who knows? There’s no proof of anything….school, birth, ..nothing.

1) whoever thinks “Republicans” want him to run is an idiot
2) doesn’t it strike anyone that he’s the white Obama except that Republicans will not be as stupid as Democrats and put someone forward who is so unqualified and wrongly positioned on the issues?
3) Sarah Palin was more qualified than Barack Obama. Had he been white, he would never have received the nomination. Had she been a man, she might have received the 2012 nomination. It’s not going to happen. She’s not ready for prime time.
4) This is ABC people. Don’t expect honest or careful reporting about Republicans.

Being pro-choice and pro-civil unions does NOT make him a Democrat — politics is way more than social issues. It makes him an electable Republican in Massachusetts — and possibly elsewhere. The guy does have a history of fiscal conservatism and strong national defense (via his National Guard service.) It’s the economy, stupid! And this guy knows that.

Geese give the guy a break will ya. Walters asks the guy the usual stupid question “will you run for president in 2012” and his response is “Barbara, I haven’t even gotten my Senate business cards yet.” Now you’re bashing the GOP and him, so
here is my question for Obama. Mr. Obama, you have never held so much as a management position with a company, you have been in the Senate approximately 140 days and never drafted any legislation for the people of your state. We do not know where you stand on critical issues because you vote “Present” when these issues come up for vote. Tell me Mr. Obama will you be running for president in 2008?

Posted by: Buck | February 1, 2010, 9:15 am 9:15 am

Look Scott, I truly am happy you won a seat in the Senate, but slow down a bit, get in there and do something first before you start thinking you’re ready to be President. This is the reason we are in the mess we’re in now, Obama won a seat in the Senator & because he gave a pretty speech at the Dem convention, people on the left thought he was ready to be Prez. Regardless that Obama is the least qualified person to ever hold the Presidency (It shows daily), Boy did that backfire. So take it easy, show people you can lead without destroying our country, & just maybe you might convince us you are ready…

Posted by: sezme | February 1, 2010, 9:49 am 9:49 am

Surely the voters in this country are not stupid enough to elect yet another inexperienced man to the presidency. Look at the mess we are in now because ‘Johnny-come-lately’ was elected. I’m sure Brown is a nice guy, but he, like Obama, has neither the wisdom nor the experience to lead this nation.

Posted by: Annie | February 1, 2010, 9:58 am 9:58 am

This is the most embarassing interview for BARBARA that I have ever heard. Wow. When did she drop her journalist credentials so blatantly for her left-wing flag? He’s a united states Senator for crying out loud… Barbara, go back for a journalism refresher course. No one everyone’s giving up on news on tv. No credibility. Did you do an Al Franken interview about him stealing the election there too? Wow…

As usual people see a nice looking person who seems amiable and talented but too much is made of his win. He ran against a person who felt she had the job and did not need to campaign. She was so conceited she never went to areas and let the people know what she stood for and they did not like her. Her problem which is now Obama’s problem. Not saying Brown will not be good but to jump to presidency before he is even installed as a Senator is a little premature. He is pro choice and his state has health care…a mandatory health care provision….and it is working. Why is everyone against the plan Obama presented…health care for all …mandatory. This will get people out of the emergency rooms and costs to us will be less. Mr. Brown will have to back off the pro choice to even be considered by the ultra conservatives and they do have Sarah.
