Clinton, Bush Cut PSA for Haiti Relief Fund

Former Presidents Clinton and Bush cut a public service announcement today for the Clinton-Bush Haiti Fund:

The transcript:

Clinton: We Americans are always at our best when we hear — and heed — the cries of others.

Bush: When confronted with massive human suffering, Americans have always stepped up and answered the call to help.

Clinton: But there's never been anything on the scale of human tragedy in our own hemisphere like what we're now witnessing in Haiti.

Bush: Today President Clinton and I are joining together to appeal to you with real urgency.

Clinton: Give now and lives will be saved. Thank you.

Bush: Thank you.

An excellent use of past presidents (did Bush pioneer this in the wake of the tsunami disaster?). I hope it becomes an American tradition.

why does it always take terrible events and disasters for all of us to come together for a common goal?

Does this mean Obama will stop blaming Bush for everything or that Bush will be the reason he does not get the Nobel twice in row .

Could it be that after getting the Mr. Clinton and Mr. Bush II, Mr. Obama got back to the lush green for a few more rounds of golf?

It is unreal how small bitter people use this horrific human tragedy to vent angry sarcastic remarks and political spin.
Even the presidents are coming together for the common good.
For a moment, just think, There(Haiti), but for the grace of God, go I.
Can you even imagine running after a helicopter for dropped boxes of food, or worse, dying from dehydration, homeless after the whole world just crumbled under your feet.
Leave your Rush Limbaugh instigated hatred by the roadside and feel empathy for other human beings.
Humans can be narcisstic and selfish, but people can also be very empathtic and feel other’s pain.
Which are you?
The search for the people under the rumble will continue until every structure is unearthed.
That’s my opinion for today.

Give to help Haiti but do your homework first. Some of these funds are bogus. Don’t give to any fund associated with the UN. They are the worst thieves of charitable money.

What a President and man?
Good to see George W. Bush, a man who honorably absolves Obama of his shallow blame-politics and abuse to help the poor victims of Haiti.
Such a honorable, thoughtful man.

Perhaps Obama pulled the two of them in so if anything goes wrong he can blame them?

There are many ways to help. Could the following idea be of value?
Given so many Americans are out of work, how about establishing and delivering a relief force consisting of Americans who otherwise can’t find work at home?
Maybe, initially, it could work this way, and then adjust as we need: give each volunteering American a one time, 60 day tour in Haiti to help. Each volunteer would be assigned to work details based on their skills and experiences. Meanwhile, back home, the federal and state governments would continue and extend unemployment benefits for these same people by some generous amount (e.g. no loss of benefits plus 2 months in Haiti results in 4-6 months of extended unemployment benefits).
At first pass it seems reasonable that the volunteers would receive a small stipend and also have their transportation and local costs covered (e.g. lodging in US Army style camps).
A benefit back home might be that some number of unemployed Americans are put to good work, they feel useful and lift spirits, we present a good image to the world, and the economy is given a little more time to re-establish itself.
Just a thought. Other ideas?

After reading the 12 comments you can tell the “age groups” of the people who wrote in. They range from: 16-21, 21-26, 26-35.

I think this is the right thing for two former presidents of opposing parties to do.
Well done.

Why did the Clinton Bush Haiti Relief Fund pull their PSA???? Dear God, these people are just barely hanging on.
God, Please hear “God Hear My Prayers” wishes. That is a fantastic idea.
God help them, God help us at home to be able to continue to help Haiti.
