Full Text of John Edwards’ Statement

The following was released by John Edwards this morning:

I am Quinn’s father.  I will do everything in my power to provide her with the love and support she deserves.  I have been able to spend time with her during the past year and trust that future efforts to show her the love and affection she deserves can be done privately and in peace.

It was wrong for me ever to deny she was my daughter and hopefully one day, when she understands, she will forgive me.  I have been providing financial support for Quinn and have reached an agreement with her mother to continue providing support in the future.

To all those I have disappointed and hurt, these words will never be enough, but I am truly sorry.

John Edwards lied about his affair, lied about fathering the baby, and tried to wriggle out of his responsibility, finally ‘coming clean’ and admitting it once he was trapped. The Democrats and RINOs will ‘forgive’ him, of course – meanwhile pointing fingers at and demanding the resignation of Governor Mark Sanford. Not much difference in their behavior, but a whole WORLD of difference in reactions. Big surprise.

What a disappointment he turned out to be. Not only was he cheating on his wife who sacrificed and stood by him, he cheated us by lying and trying to make himself in to some kind of “superhero” of the working people. John Edwards is nothing but a self-serving egomaniac!

Both Edwards and his wife Elizabeth should just go away and leave the public alone. No one cares about their creepy lives anymore!!!

What do you mean forgive him? Edwards is toxic. No Democrat will go near him. He was slated to speak at the 2008 DNC and was bounced from the program. There’s no double standard.

I guess Ann Coulter was wrong, again.

“I am Quinn’s father. I will do everything in my power to provide her with the love and support she deserves.”
If it’s anything like the love and support you’ve provided to your dying wife, I think the child would be better off if you just sent a check once a month and left her alone. You Mr. Edwards were once my hope for a brighter future for this country; now I see you as nothing short of a pig!

Bea Jones: While I agree with you about Edwards lying and not taking responsibility, Mark Sanford is a sitting governor (that means he holds office) and he has a responsibility to the his constituents. John Edwards holds no office and is not really beholden to the public unless he chooses to do so. It should not be a “big surprise” that the reactions would be different- unless you’re trying to spin the story…… and you wouldn’t do that!

It doesn’t matter where you’ve been, or where your at, what matters is where you’re going. I hope he continues to do what is right for the child.

Wow – some people are so mean. People make mistakes.
Anyone heard this one,”Let he who is without sin cast the first stone”?

Wow, what a surprise! Next thing you know is that someone will claim that Mark McGwire took steroids!

I feel so sorry for this family. I still like them. I still like John and think he is a good man that made a bad mistake, in a weaken moment. I have a brother and Dad that liked the women, and made the same mistake, I also love them. Some times a man can be too handsome, maybe this is Mr. Edwards problem. Good luck to Elizabeth and God Bless.
