ABC News’ Yunji de Nies reports:

The first lady is urging Americans to open their wallets to help the victims of the earthquake in Haiti.

In a public service announcement released tonight in partnership with the Ad Council and American Red Cross, Michelle Obama looks directly into the camera and says, “The images from Haiti are heartbreaking.  Homes, hospitals and schools destroyed.  Families searching for loved ones.  Parents trying to feed their children.  But we can all do something. We can help the American Red Cross as it delivers the food, water and medicine that can save lives.  Donate $10 by texting the word “Haiti” to 90999. Visit redcross.org or call 1-800-Red Cross.”

The 30-second ad is being distributed to all major television outlets throughout the country.
