Obama on Golf Course via YouTube

ABC News’ Jon Garcia reports: When President Obama played the MidPacific Country Club Golf Course in Kailua yesterday, he drove his cart up to some of the golf course neighbors and shook hands. One neighbor shot video of the event and posted to YouTube.  “What’s up guys? How’s everyone doing?” Obama called out to the group of onlookers, who wished him a happy new year and he returned the wish. When one of them offered to take him canoe sailing on a 44-foot Hawaiian canoe, Obama replied, “I would love to but I don’t think the Secret Service will let me.” The press wasn’t around for this encounter but they were able to see and film Obama putting on the 9th green (he sank that one), teeing off on the 10th hole & putting on the 18th green (he missed that one, in front of a small cheering gallery.)

He sure plays alot of golf. I wonder why Axelrod groomed him as some kind of Joe Everyman Basketball player instead of the golfing elite snob that he’s turned out to be.

Because basketball is sexy and gets votes. Because people would rather care about what is his sport of choice, and how much money he has, than how competent he actually is.

I do believe that Cheney has been soooo right about Obummer’s low key response against Terror. Sadly, 253 innocent American were almost killed by the underwear Terror and seven CIA Agents were killed by Terror’s bomber while Obummer has enjoyed luxury vacation in Hawaii.
Cheney said Obama’s “low key response” to the failed attack, refusal to use the phrase “war on terror” and the pending closure of the Guantanamo Bay detention center all reflect an attitude that terrorism is a law enforcement problem, not a military one.

Obama gets a pass from the press and other candidates much scrutiny. Can you image the headlines if Clinton or Palin had an obsession with golfing. The press is complicit in all things Obama.

Obama vacationed while campaigning and not nary a word from the press.

Check out the picture of Obama on Drudge. He might be No Drama Obama but it’s clear the stress of his first real job is getting to him.
I bet the WH does not want this picture to get around. Obama looks old and haggard.
They will have some kind of spin–it was a body double or something.
I guess fundamentally changing America
is harder than he thought, especially when the charm has worn off.

If it hadn’t been so cold in Texas today I would have played myself. I don’t fault this President for playing golf, hanging out, being with his family and, in general, taking time off. It is a tough job and there is nothing like a round of golf to clear the head.
Clear away, Mr. President.
I haven’t watched the U Tube but I have seen his swing. if things don’t work out politically he is not going to aspire to the PGA.
It is interesting that Michael Moore came at Bush about his golf game and made a big deal out of it. Bush stopped playing as a result. That was a low blow. I don’t wish Micheal Moore on Obama – I say go play golf whenever you can; it is good for the soul.

Gallup has President Obama back up over 50% – seems his approval ratings have held pretty steady for weeks now.
On the other hand, President Reagan fell to 35% approval ratings during his first term.

Rasmussen says 53% now hate Obama as of Dec 31…and we all know this is the most accurate pollster out there. And just think Obama’s latest major screwup over the airlines and playing golf while we are being terror attack haven’t even sunk in yet….Watch out below, Obama is gonna to fall even bigger.

This is for all those scoffers, including Ryan C, who have complained that ‘Going Rogue’ was a best seller only because of the massive bulk orders received:
“In none of the four weeks that Going Rogue has held the top spot on the NY Times hardcover non-fiction best-seller list has the NY Times indicated that some bookstores had been receiving bulk orders for Governor Palin’s memoir (even if the NY Times did report bulk orders, it wouldn’t account for her record-breaking amount of sales).
“The NY Times puts a “dagger” symbol next to the book if some bookstores reported receiving bulk orders for the best-seller. I don’t see a “dagger” symbol in week 1, week 2, week 3, and now week 4 of Going Rogue’s reign atop the NY Times best-seller list for hardcover non-fiction books.
“I guess there goes another theory that some on the left have desperately clung to in order to explain the records that Governor Palin set with her memoir. Liberals, it’s time to face the facts. There’s a reason why so many more people purchased Governor Palin’s memoir than the number of people who purchased the books by Obama and David Plouffe…you guys just don’t read.” Free Republic, 12/18/09

Hardest working President we’ve had in 8 years. Well deserved vacation over the Christmas holidays. Glad you don’t SCARE the cowards with fear tactics. Glad you don’t call Terrorist Supermen, because they not!
No, Bush was golfing when soldiers were invading Iraqi…and when asked about it, Georgie boy said, “NOW WATCH THIS SHOT”. It’s amazing that some are still angry and in denial that President Obama is and was Elected President by Americans! The world is watching the hypocrisy of this nation. Keep it going, you fools!

So “Live! From DC! It’s Saturday Night! “,
When I get a free Palin “book” with my Newsmax subscription, the individually order the “book” for me?
Perhaps Townhall does the same thing?
Wingnuts are sooooo gullible.

sara, in my mind, Bush was the worst president we’ve ever had.
We don’t want Obama to learn from him or follow him, but isn’t that exactly what we’re seeing? It’s like Bush paved the way (for corporate bailouts with Paulson, for usurping Congressional authority, for corrupting the Justice Department and courts with partisanship, for spending well beyond our means and our children’s means, for “personal” wars, “we will not falter… we will not rest”, as a puppet for the corporatacracy, etc.), and Obama is following hard in his footsteps.
It all feels very Bushy…. sigh.

Walter said; [["My administration will not rest" now excuse me while I play some more tennis, golf, and pretend I'm on a family vacation where I never spend time with the fam.]]
I wondered when anyone would ever comment that he takes so-called “family vacations” but brings about 3 or 4 other families with him — and then hardly spends any time with his two kids.

The country needs jobs – not rhetoric. How’s Obama’s ‘trickle up’ job theory going so far? You know the one where the poor get more entitlements so they will hire people?

Posted by: Live! From DC! It's Saturday Night! | January 2, 2010, 2:14 pm 2:14 pm

tierra, if you’re comparing Obama to Bush, you’re setting a really low bar… and you’re providing a very false (delusional) measure of success.

No, actually Bush set very high standards for how many vacations he took. Obama is being measured against one of the best.

Try some perspective. When Reagan took office the unemployment rate was at 7.5%. It got worse and worse for two full years and peaked at 10.8%. It then stayed around 10% for at least 6 months more.
So despite his efforts, it took Reagan over two and a half years to get unemployment under control.
Or am I setting too low a standard using Reagan as a comparison?

Posted by: tierra | January 2, 2010, 2:49 pm 2:49 pm

I do fault Obama for the false claim (sound bite) that if the recovery plan was passed (which it was), unemployment would top out below 8%
______________________________________
Dave this point has been gone over endlessly.
The President never promised unemployment at 8%; in fact nobody in his administration did.
That figure is from the Romer report – and in that report, the authors pointedly stated 1) they were publishing before the stimulus plan had been finalized, 2) the economy was extremely volatile and unpredictable – and they warned against using their forecasts as exact figures, or exact predictions. Which is of course what the anti-Obama types have done.

Obama giving a “shout out” to the “guys” on the golf course in Hawaii. In the mean time….the economy is in shambles, we have multiple wars, CIA agents are being blown up, there is a near Narco-State on our unsecured Southern border, his hometown of Chi-town is close to Mexico in violence, people’s debt is out of control, and so on….and we thought Bush was clueless. Meet the new boss, same as the old boss, but, admittedly, at least Obama can party more hardy than Bush (Earth-Wind-And-Fire concerts etc). His partys are so good people even crash them!

Obama is probably the best president that we have had since Kennedy. Look at his presidency, and stop looking at every little picky, insignificant thing you can trying to find something wrong. He is what he seems to be — a great president and a great man. Let’s work together to bring our country back up to its former glory that has been slipping away for years. Head Obama’s suggestions.

Posted by: Sharra | January 3, 2010, 12:16 pm 12:16 pm

tierra, as reported, Obama did not celebrate “Christmas holidays”- as you claim. He neither attended church nor did he mention “Christmas”. He just took another vacation to Hawaii while much of the country dealt with freezing temperatures and snow. Not to mention the other problems in the country that should be taking his attention away from partying, golf, etc.

Posted by: Ed | January 3, 2010, 1:04 pm 1:04 pm

This little vacation has cost us, the broke taxpayers, a tremendous amount. Every time the President gets in that 747 he burns 2,500 gallons of fuel per hour but it doesn’t stop there. There is a second 747, a decoy that is also burning 2,500 gallons an hour. Then there are the minimum of 2 C-5s or C-17s to carry the limos and the secret service equipment. If helicopters will be used, another couple of C-5s, these burn at least 3,000 gallons per hour. Then there is the fighter escort and all of the refueling and manpower behind that. This little trip to Hawaii to play golf…..poorly, had to have burned over 100,000 gallons of jet fuel way up there in the 40,000 foot range in our atmosphere. The environmental President????? He talks the talk but never walks the walk.
