President Barack Obama as Promise-Keeper: One Year In

ABC News’ Rick Klein and Lindsey Ellerson report: The prison at Guantanamo Bay was supposed to be closed by now. Lobbyists weren’t going to be working in the White House.

Health care negotiations were going to be televised on C-SPAN. And, of course, a new tone was supposed to have descended upon Washington.

On the eve of tomorrow’s State of the Union address, we took a look at some of President Obama’s major promises of the past year — what’s been kept, and what’s been broken. Check out the video from ABC News NOW.

His promise to have C-SPAN broadcast the creation of health insurance reform? What about his promise to support stem cell research? Two broken promises.

obama raised the bar on promises. they were laughable to begin with and people bought them hook line and sinker.now he is being called out and blames it on bush. you were the guy who was supposed to be different and in actuality worse than those before you.

Did you guys buy all those promises? I didn’t. If you believed a man sit in church for 20 years and don’t remember hearing the pastor preach like he did-then I would like to sell you the Brooklyn bridge! That’s like going to a movie and don’t know what you seen. I had him pegged from the start!

Not much has been kept…..because he never intended to keep the promises, in the first place.
It was all campaign rhetoric, as usual.
How can the people take back, the country from the political machine?….that is the question.

Vote all progressive incumbents out!
Vote out all Californian progressives so new responsible politicians can turn the water back on for the farmers in the San Joaqin Valley.

Obama sold the people once that he could repair the car. The car hasn’t worked like he said. His repairs have made it worse. The people know they have the greatest car. They will choose a new lead mechanic with a new set of technicians.( President and Congress). They have lost their trust in the current methods being used.

TRUTH TELLING is not a leftist strong point; remember the old Communist slogan : The End Justifies The Means.

Gee he’s got a way with words. WORDS are all he’s got too. Does this man ever make a decision on his own. HE talks like a failure, the whole world is watching him. I wish he would sound and act stronger, but I don’t see it happening. SORRY

I have more hope for the future than I have had in over 9 years. I see so much criticism and I can’t believe what short memories people have. Where was this criticism 5 years ago. My husband lost his job twice due to layoffs once in 2001 and again in 2009. I told everyone when they voted Bush in the 2nd time that the country would be in shambles when he finished and it IS. I knew Obama couldn’t do it all in a year or maybe even 4 but I know he has worked hard to undo the damage the Bush years reeked on us. I am glad we can feel so free to criticize. A few years ago I was unamerican for speaking against our president, I was told if I didn’t like Bush’s ways I was free to leave MY country. No I did the American thing I voted. If Obama had his way a lot of these problems would be effectively solved but he can’t sign too many executive orders by himself or he is making too many decisions without consulting the senate so he is by our laws forced to make compromises to placate the opposers. Hmm I think a new patriot act is called for so he can do what he thinks is best for us with out having to consult us.

I think the Promise Keepers would want to send Obama to rehab.

Ericka- Obama mirrors the change that Hugo Chavez has taken Venezuela. Obama’s progressive agenda will decimate the country, we are more polarized thn ever.

You may still leave the country if you want to live under a Communist regime, as what you have just described indicates.

I agree with the Obama detractors, but the Republican Party is not the answer either. The American people need to move beyond these two corrupt, morally bankrupt, fiscally irresponsible parties. But, how?

The right thing to do is to vote in people who have strong values like our founding fathers, adhering to the constitution as written. This can be done by looking at past voting history, family dynamics, coworker, friend, neighbor reviews. The party doesn’t matter, the right person does. DeeDee Scozzafava proved that.

Obama promised to go line by line thru the budget and not sign if it contained pork, but he signed it anyway. Now with all the new spending programs he is pushing that cost Billions,he wants to save 250 billion over 3 years? Laughable, while spending 1.8 trillion a year,I want to be his math Czar.I can do simple math, when it seems no one else in White House can.
