Vice President Biden Rushes to Bedside of Seriously Ill Mother

Jake Tapper and Karen Travers report:

Vice President Joe Biden’s mother Catherine Eugenia “Jean” Biden, 92, has taken seriously ill in recent days, prompting the Vice President and his family to travel to Wilmington, Delaware, where they have gathered around her bedside.

Mrs. Biden, whose husband Joseph Biden Sr. died in 2002, was hospitalized last March and, according to a close family friend, is currently in hospice care.

In his speech to the Democratic National Convention in 2008, then-Sen. Biden said, “I wish that my dad was here tonight, but I am so grateful that my mom, Catherine Eugenia Finnegan Biden, is here. You know, she taught her children — all the children who flocked to our house — that you are defined by your sense of honor, and you are redeemed by your loyalty. She believes bravery lives in every heart and her expectation is that it will be summoned.”

What does President Obama have to do with VP Bidens mother? They must pay fools like Obamacrat for Palin to post stupid comments. This lady has lived a long glorious life. God bless his family.

We have way too much anger and bile in the political discourse. But, as someone who also has a 91 year mother, “Obamacrat for Palin”, your post is beyond the pale of bad taste and decency. Is there nothing you people won’t use for political gain? God Bless Ms. Biden and the family.

Your form of political satire is so close to being an accurate portrayal of the Republican right that people often mistake it for sincere rantings. Excellent work.

“Obamacrat for Palin”, thank god there aren’t more voters like you out there. “Death panel supporters”??? I thought we got rid of that old GOP chestnut. Shame on you for trying to cloud the issues with phony, moronic idocy.
Mr. Biden, I am thankful that your mother was able to impart much-needed wisdom. My regards to your family.

Prayer During Illness.
O God and Father, I offer You my illness and suffering in union with the sufferings of Your Son, Jesus Christ. You willed that He should suffer for the salvation of the world. Let my sufferings, united with His, be meritorious for my salvation and that of others.
Give me the strength to accept my illness, and, if it is in Your plan, may I be restored to health so I can continue to serve You in holiness and wholeness. If not, give me the understanding to accept this cross, the humility to accept the help of others, and the grace to see Your purpose in all the events of my life. Amen

Lost my mom when she was 90 y/old.
Yes she lived a long life but saying good bye to her was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do.
My prayers are with Mrs. Biden and her family.

I don’t like Joe’s politics, but he sure is good to his mom.
She looked so proud of Joe when he got picked to be VP.
It was nice to see her having fun at all of the festivities.
God bless her.

May His peace, grace and love be on our Vice President and his family as they endure these trying times. May His healing powers be visited upon the Vice President’s mother. If it is time for her to go to her heavenly reward, may her family celebrate her life here on Earth.

Don’t particularly care for him but death of a mother is very difficult … wishing the best to his family. Stop with the political nonsense fools! Are you really that pathetic!

I’ll keep the Biden family in my prayers. From all accounts, VP Biden’s mom is a dear lady. She has lead a long, rich life. I hope all is peaceful and well for her, and that will comfort her family.

I lost my Mom when she was 64 so Joe is very lucky to have had his Mom so long. She has had a very long and full life and I wish her well.

Even in death these tea party backers find a reason to be happy ,they are the sickest of the sick. May Vice-President Biden be rest assured that most are thinking about him in his time of grief. May his mom suffer little and may Joe and his family find peace in their hearts. God Bless

So, just wondering…how many of you liberals attacking Obamacrat for their comments, praised and begged for the death of Rush Limbaugh last week when it was announced he had been taken to the hospital? Ineresting how the left wing blogs went nuts with the left begging for him to die.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Biden familiy. They are real genuine hardworking people. God Bless.

It’s amazing how desperate the right has become that they have to put a political spin on Mrs. Biden’s passing. She was a kindly old lady who never bothered a soul. But you righties couldn’t just let it pass without making some snide comment, could you? There’s something inherently wrong with people like yourselves.
God rest you, Mrs. Biden!

I worked on the Biden presidential campaign in Iowa and the Obama/Biden campaign and got to see the strength, ties and hard work of an amazingly loyal and dedicated Biden family up close. I was inspired by the proud Mrs. Jean Biden who was actually out campaigning for her son. The respect and love he had for his mother was and is evident. Though the length of her years here on earth was long and blessed, I send all my best wishes and prayers to the Biden family for the loss of such a foundation of love, support and strength. By all accounts, she truly was a rock in the family.
