Cheney: Biden ‘Dead Wrong’ on Iraq

So much for vice presidential comity. This morning, the gloves came off.

In an exclusive interview on “This Week,” former Vice President Dick Cheney said Vice President Joe Biden was ‘dead wrong’ on Iraq.

Responding to Biden’s comments that Iraq may end up being one of the Obama administration’s greatest success, Cheney chuckled. “I guess I shouldn’t be surprised by my friend Joe Biden,” he said.

“I’m glad he now believes Iraq is a success,” Cheney said. “For them to try and take credit for what has happened in Iraq strikes me as a little strange. … So if they are going to take credit for [Iraq’s success] – fair enough – for what they’ve done while they're there – but it ought to go with a healthy dose of ‘thank you George Bush’ up front. And a recognition that some of their early recommendations with respect to prosecuting that war were just dead wrong.”

“I believe very deeply in the proposition that what we did in Iraq was the right thing to do,” Cheney said. “We got rid of one of the worst dictators of the 20th century.”

Republicans refuse to accept any culpability for all that was deceitfully manipulative of American public opinion to go to war and instead provide in your face arrogance that ours was a just cause that the Iraqis are compelled to be grateful for. The US did not represent any shining example of American justice on behalf of the Iraqi people in its decision to invade and the world knows this. Americans did not agree that war was absolutely necessary to remove this dictator and his sons to liberate the Iraqi people but instead were made to feel fearful for their own lives, fearful of weapons that did not exist.
Mr. Cheney represents the real threat of cultivating and sustaining a view by friends and foe around the world that the American people could not just tolerate but support the likes of his leadership again.

Of course Biden is wrong about it – he is wrong about anything he opens his mouth on.

I used to think that Bush was the commander-in-chief but recant information has come to light that Cheney was the one directing the WH. Bush was just the dummy on Cheney’s lap. Cheney is/was dangerous.

Biden is dumber than a rock but thats besides the point. This Week was much better without George at the helm. I thought the questions were better and the round table was better.

If I were GW I would personally stick a sock in Cheney mouth and duct tape it shut. Cheney would feel at home in Afghanistan as a war lord.. He’s a ripe piece of tripe IMO.

Mr. Cheney represents the real threat of cultivating and sustaining a view by friends and foe around the world. Philip Andolina WOW just spew garbage you have no proof of. SINCE King Obama took his throne we have had 4 attacks HERE on American soil. Iran may be nuclear and the world has not gotten safer. YOUR statement has no bearing in reality.

4 attacks on US soil???????? name em. you referring to the incoming plane from europe, as one? a fool trying to set himself on fie is hardly an attack. it is just that a fool with a lighter.
obama may not be the greatest, but “w” wasn’t either. all cheney and “w” managed to do is make this the most paranoid country on earth. face it terrorists are here to stay, learn from isreal and deal with it people.you are not going to stop any determined single person. you can catch a few, but some get slip through the cracks. so please uncle sam stop harrassing the folks who live here. if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck then it must be a duck. so go look for the duck and leave the of us birds alone.
and for the “republicans” and the “democrats”, y’all have your fair share of fools. stop blaming everything on eachother. the bush lovers you groused when “w’ got slammed, now you do the same thing to obama and obama lovers you want him to be treated like “w” was, well guess what you both have our wish.
grow up and fix the mistakes and stop pointing fingers at everyone else.
we live in a country of “I didn’t do it, he did”.
no one is to blame and we all are

fie with an “r” your with a “y”
hard to type riding down the road at times.
I do invite you all to come out and see the county the way a lot of us do, from six feet off the ground and at 60 miles an hour and all 48 lower states. help your neighbors, you know the folks you see at off ramps and living under bridges. with the sign, will work for food, need help. most are not lying, my brothers and I cannot feed them all, although we try to help as many as possible. you people who live in those towns, give them a sandwich and a soda. and stop worrying about what the government is doing, because it isn’t and eventually you will be standing at the top of that off ramp.

Biden has always, in my opinion, been one of the dimmest lights in the bunch. That is probably why Obama chose him to be his lackey.

Cheney forgets that Clinton bombed Slobodan Milosevic (a horrible strongman dictator)out of power with no loss of american life. Cheney is myopic about military (and political) strategy.

I agree with PE. Biden isn’t exactly the sharpest tool in the bunch and couple with Obama, it’s a mess. I can’t wait until 2012.
