DC Snowfall No Laughing Matter (This Time) POTUS Braces for the Snow

From Sunlen Miller and Vija Udenans:

This time, President Obama is not calling the massive snowstorm headed to the Washington, D.C. area this weekend wimpy.

"Even a transplanted Hawaiian to Chicago has sufficient respect for a forecast of nearly two feet of snow," White House press secretary Robert Gibbs told reporters this morning.

Last January the new president had only been a Washingtonian for a few days before he was making fun of the district’s reaction to a little ice.

"My children's school was canceled today because of what? Some ice," Obama laughed last January,  "We're going to have to try some flinty, Chicago toughness to this town."

But that Chicago toughness may not be enough to trudge through nearly two feet of anticipated snowfall in the next 24 hours.  The DC area is under a Winter Storm Warning, expected to get 20-30" of snow by Saturday morning. The National Weather Service advises residents to stay off the roads this evening and overnight.

After driving through snowy highways for two events – one in Langley, Virginia, and another in Lanham, Maryland – today, the White House says that the president plans to spend the rest of the day at the White House.

"Stay out of the snow," Obama cautioned to small business employees in Lanham, Maryland where he spoke about today’s jobs numbers.

The Obama daughters have the day off of school today due to the snow, and Gibbs says they will likely spend some time to get out and enjoy the snow with perhaps some sledding on the South Lawn.

As for the president, Gibbs jokes, "He does not even have to shovel the walk!"

When did ABC turn in to FOX news? Getting paid to show one kind of add while not allowing others is despicable. While we can’t possibly boycott ABC, we can boycott their advertisers–let’s see who supports this right wing agenda against women and say no thanks!!!

So will flights to Copenhagen be cancelled?

If you are referring to the super bowl ad, that’s on CBS…what a ridiculous controversy about a sweet story. Wow, what has happened to our values?
I’m a woman and I have never viewed having a child as an agenda against women.

The issue was about choice…remember?

Mrs. Tebrow was luckier than many women with an abrupted placenta who try to carry their baby to term. A lot of them end up with a dead baby. Some die themselves and end up with a dead baby.

Obama should act like Mayor Barry used to do and head to the Bahamas or somewhere sunny while the city turns to gridlock and choas due to snow. Or maybe he should call up his buddy Al Gore and ask how he can spin record snowfalls into a taxing scheme to prevent the “warming”.

“POTUS Braces for the Snow”.
.
The heck with the POTUS, its the TOTUS (Teleprompter Of The United States) that needs to be protected. Without the TOTUS how would POTUS know how to talk to the White House Press Corpse.

The President has been shovelling enough for the past few months.. let someone else do it for a while. It would be a great way to sneak a smoke..though.

It was reported on the nighttime newsd by Mrs. Tebow that CBS help her “word” the ad and worked on it w/her for some time. But the wouldn’t accept an ad from Planned Parenthood. Sounds like serious bias to me. I find those erectile dysfunction ads like Cialis or Viagra objectionable. Also, why should young children be exposed to that garbage? CBS is hypocritical and actually making a political statement which,IMO, has no place on public TV w/o a disclaimer.

I think the most volatile ad (Super Bowl) yet was the warning to seek medical help if you experience an infarction of more than four hours.. it was an ‘eye opener’.. was it really a warning or just more advertising.

“Or maybe he should call up his buddy Al Gore and ask how he can spin record snowfalls into a taxing scheme to prevent the “warming”.”
And the earth must be flat because we cannot see the curvature.
Right wing logic at its finest.

Even India is backing out of the IPCC because they “can’t rely” on them. There have been too many fudged numbers. They are seeking their own truth. Being open minded is a good thing Ryan.

All these big rain and snow fall from California in the west to Pennsyvania in the east are result of excessive moisture from sea water like Pacific ocean and Gulf of Mexico. Can we still say that the ocean level will kept rising due to snow smelting on mountain tops and our sea shore (include New York , LA etc ) will be flooded before the end of this century ?
