Pop star Shakira visits the White House, offers private ‘hello’ to Obama
ABC News’ Jonathan Blakely and Sunlen Miller report:
The audacity of hips.
World famous Colombian singer-songwriter Shakira, known for her multi-genre influenced music and belly dancing, met with President Obama today, a White House official confirmed.
Shakira was at the White House today to meet with members of the National Security Council and the Domestic Policy Council to discuss U.S. policy toward children as well as early childhood development. According to the White House official, Shakira met with the President privately to say hello after the meetings had concluded.
In addition to being a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, Shakira is also an advocate for children living in poverty. In a speech she delivered last December at Oxford University, Shakira expressed her hope that children of future generations would regard 2010 as the year that “world education became more important than world domination.”
The Associated Press was first to report the meeting.

Shakira? Really? Maybe the republicans should wear tight, leather mini-skirts and do some booty shaking at the meeting Thursday if they want to be taken seriously by this president.

For the nimrods out there who can’t tell the difference between Shakira the artist and somone who is using her celebrity for a good cause. Your just plain ignorant. That is the mindset of the nutwings out here. Anything that is Obama is bad.

Considering how non serious they have shown themselves when it comes to getting the business of the people done, that would not be a bad idea.

you know, I’ve read a couple of Shakira interviews and my impression is that she’s pretty smart. I think, that she has more interests and concerns than her next hair and makeup appointment. She has a far more substantial intellect, than one would expect from a beautiful pop star.

I think you are trying to insinuate something here. Many stars have been at the white house but did not get such attention from you.

You obviously have not paid any attention to Presidents in office and the role they play.
Nor apparently did you pay any attention to a previous poster who said “For the nimrods out there who can’t tell the difference between Shakira the artist and somone who is using her celebrity for a good cause. I’m now certain that Obama is more than a little pleased that his Demo_rat predecessor has already redefined “sex,” thereby making it necessary for HIM to do so as well…
I wonder, what mind-boggling solution to world affairs did Shakira lay on the idiot-in-chief… Glad to see he’s got the right focus, and is representing us well.
ROTFLMFAO!!!!
Tick, tock, tick, tock… just 252 more days and this MORON starts wearing a LAME DUCK sign for his LAST 2 years in office!!!

Meanwhile from the AFP;
ABC News said Tuesday that it plans to substantially cut its staff as part of a “fundamental transformation” of the news division at the Walt Disney-owned US television network.
ABC News president David Westin, in an email to ABC News employees, said all news department staffers would receive buyout offers in the next few days.”

Something stinks and it ain’t in Denmark.
Tapper may think this is funny or ABC may think it’s real news.
At this point it does not matter.

Or are we supposed to wait on an Obama fourth or fith term (take your pick which Obama or Clintong for that matter…)?
Wait, mabe we could have a genius from a Bush or Kennedy family to “lead us on”….

That a good way to used all those millions she make with her hip shaking.
I just hope more artist were like her and stop spending their money in material things when there are so many childrens in the world that needs help.
She has helped more than 6,000 families displaced by violence and spend more than $42 millions in charities.
Congratulations !
