Schwarzenegger: Fighting Obesity Part of Health Care Reform
Republican Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger says he backs First Lady Michelle Obama’s efforts to battle childhood obesity. “I think prevention is the biggest and most important part of health care reform,” Schwarzenegger told Terry Moran in an exclusive “This Week” interview. “Mrs. Obama is doing something very smart right now…”
SCHWARZENEGGER: I think that Mrs. Obama is doing something very smart right now. She's gotten into the obesity summit business, and I think that if you do health care, you cannot do health care without prevention. I think the prevention part is the biggest and the most important part of health care reform. And so, for her to talk about obesity, which is a huge problem, because it creates the diabetes and all the health problems in children. We make our children — they are now 10 pounds heavier today than they were 20 years ago. So all of this I think going in the right direction.

Arnold is 100% correct about fighting obesity, but it is not all about exercizing. The food we eat is toxic. This needs to be addressed much to the dismay of Monsanto and the like.

arnold is so supportive. he is really working it.
any more compliments and pandering you want to do for this administration?
could it be you want that money realy bad to bail out all your buddies that have thrown away our state?
Private sector has not benefitted from any stimulus money — more and more gov’t employees have been hired with outrageous salaries and benefits.
Sooooo corrupt.
RECALL on ARNOLD!

Looks like Arnold is kissing up for some bailout money for California because he cant govern. The stress he has caused its residents are causing them to become obese. Why isn’t there any story in here about Michele Obama saying she doesn’t watch any of the news channels nor read the papers. This is a slap in the face to ABC News and didn’t Palin get all kind of heat for not reading any periodicals? Sounds like hyprocrisy at it’s best.

You are correct, but I believe the largest contributor to obesity is lack of exercise. I was my high school’s cross country coach and ran a program for overweight teens, who had to show up every practice and – at minimum – run/walk three miles each day. I also ate with them during Saturday meets and can tell you that few of the overweight kids were on diets. But everyone who stuck with the 16-week program lost a significant amount of weight and their legs, arms, and shoulders developed a healthy muscle tone.

The_Mick-I won’t argue with you but to say, I used to play college soccer and I was eating Taco Bell, McDonalds, etc. I actually had a gut. Then I got married to a woman that is into organic, non-gmo, non-antibiotic, nutrient dense foods. I excersize much, much less, and I am back to my high school weight. Thus a combination of diet and exercize is best. I do agree with you though.

Arnold and Mrs. Obama may be right, but I suspect they are right for all the wrong reasons. This is just like saying smoking was bad. The health people get on board. Logically, some things may be bad for people. However, the end product is always, ‘lets tax it’. Then where does the tax money go? Arnold and Obama have just found a new source of spending money. They could care less about us. How do you think we got here?
