The Politics of Snow

ABC News’ Teddy Davis and Matt Loffman report:

The powerhouse snow storm heading towards the Mid-Atlantic region is being seized on by the Republican Party of Virginia to go after two Democratic targets.

In a new web video called, “12 Inches of Global Warming,” the Virginia GOP mocks Rep. Rick Boucher, D-Va., and Rep. Tom Perriello, D-Va., for casting votes in favor of Cap-and-Trade climate change legislation which got through the House but is likely stalled in the Senate.

The video, which includes snippets from local weather reports and footage of cars covered in snow, ends with the narrator urging viewers to: “Call Boucher and Perriello and tell them how much global warming you got this weekend.”

Democrats are responding to the ad by noting that scientists believe that climate change will bring on more extreme weather with freezing temperatures and more snowstorms in the winter.

"If the Republican Party can't tell the difference between climate and weather, that's their problem,” Perriello spokeswoman Jessica Barba told ABC News.
