Axelrod on White House Seder: Sasha Found the Afikomen

ABC News’ Rick Klein reports: Toward the end of today’s “Top Line” interview with David Axelrod, we asked the White House senior adviser to reflect on the new tradition of holding a Passover Seder in the White House. We asked Axelrod, who is Jewish, what some of President Obama’s predecessors, such as Thomas Jefferson or John F. Kennedy, would think of a gathering of Jews and African-Americans celebrating a Jewish tradition together inside the White House. “I think the two presidents you mentioned would have been really, really pleased to see that because it reflects the evolution of our country, the pluralism of our country. And I think they would have — they would have been really thrilled to see that and some of the other things that are happening here,” Axelrod said. “Often I sit in that Oval Office, and the president sits in his chair and above him is George Washington and on the wall is Abraham Lincoln. And I’m thinking, what a great commentary about the progress of our country. And how pleased they must have … would have been could they, could they witness this.” And last night, who asked the traditional “four questions,” and who found the afikomen? “I have to say that the winner on both fronts was Sasha,” Axelrod told us.

Jeff, I am disgusted that you speak so badly of our President. How can bringing people of different cultures together be a bad thing? Yiur hatred is thinly veiled. If John Mccain had done the same thing would you still be so angry?

I think it’s great. I also think there are some people who just cannot be inclusive & who are cynical & think everything is for show.
Some people, Obama for instance, are actually forward thinking as well as inclusive.

Oh yuck, jeff dunetz; Can’t any of you obama-haters EVER be gracious, EVER turn off the political fire hose, EVER relax? i have no quarrel with israel, but neither do i with the palestinians. and neither does our president. (if he hates jews as much as you seem to think, why are at least two of his closest advisors jewish?) it’s a horrible situation that will not improve if each side keeps poking and cudgeling the other one, and for that reason president obama will not just lay down and do Israel’s bidding no matter what. i am not fond of netanyahu, nor of any right-wing hardliners, who tend to be belligerently patriotic, war-worshiping, rigid, holier-than-thou poops. they have no sense of humor, especially about themselves, and love an authoritarian model just a shade too much, which must be why they’re always calling each other “Sir” with this embarrassing schoolboy eagerness to be recognized and praised by Authority.
can’t you just see the humor and fun of having a seder in the first black white house? do you want sasha to give back the afikomen? would that make you feel better?

If the President was inclusive as he ran on throughout his campaign he would have created the path for bi-partisanship from day one. He would also have gone after the GREED and CORRUPTION within the BELTWAY and all of the BILLS being worked on plus the SOCIAL SECURITY FUND that has been raided over the years, MEDICARE, MEDICAID to save our tax dollars, this is what he talked to death for two years. Where are our VALUES and PRINCIPLES????? Read about our history and look at the rights we have all lost and then too look at what they want you to believe and what they actually are doing. LOOK READ and be responsible for ones self do not look to the Government for every little thing.
