Axelrod Says McCain’s “Disappointing Attitude” Belongs “On the Sandlot”
Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., appeared on local Arizona radio station KFYI-AM 550 this morning, urging opponents of health care reform to “keep up the fight” with demonstrations and challenges of the bill’s constitutionality.
McCain said he was pushing the repeal of the bill, and said he was opposed to how the bill was “resolved on a pure partisan basis with a majority” of the public opposed to it, “done in the most unsavory Chicago sausage-making that I’ve ever seen in the years that I have been there.”
"There will be no cooperation for the rest of the year," McCain said. "They have poisoned the well in what they've done and how they've done it."
In an interview with ABC News, White House senior adviser David Axelrod said that “from the very beginning unfortunately the leadership in Congress has taken the position that we’re going to oppose us at most turns hoping that somehow if this president fails, that their party would succeed. I think that’s an unfortunate position to take.”
Axelrod added that he was “disappointed to see Senator McCain say this morning that there would be no cooperation from the Republicans in the Senate for the rest of the year because they were upset at the outcome on health care.”
The President’s senior adviser said, “You know, that’s okay on the sandlot but that’s not really okay when you’re trying to govern a country and move a country forward. It’s a disappointing attitude.”

Romney Makes His Case to Conservatives at CPAC
I actually agree with the mouthpiece on this.. McCain seems bitter over a long lost campaign (which most of us thought was poorly planned and executed).. maybe I’m wrong.. but it doesn’t look good on Johnny Boy when he starts hurling this rhetoric..regardless of his beliefs or intent..

The phrase that really stands out in this article is “trying to govern a country.” It is one thing to go around the country giving speeches during a campaign and actually governing. President Obama is in way over his head and it is really starting to show. He has thrown Congress overboard to save his sinking ship, and it is only a matter of time before he can’t tread water any more.

That said, Axelrod needs a checkup or something. He just doesn’t seem “well”…he always seems sweaty.

There is nothing wrong with McCain. What is wrong is we elected a liar as president. The Republicans allowed the democrats have a majority and they killing us.
Pelosi is the worst speaker of the house in modern times and Obama has no peers as president for he clearly is the worst.
The differnce is McCain is he is a man and Obama is just a well spoken punk who would roll over on our country if threatened personally.

What I don’t like is the vandalism Ryan C mentions at 6:43:30 PM– vandalism on top of ginned up rhetoric, exploitation of fear, doom and gloom, racial slurs, and so on.

Talk about ginned up rhetoric!
The most powerful people in the country- our President and Congresspeople are not victims to their citizens.
We have, throughout history, had protesters, heated political rhetoric, and even political vandalism (remember Seattle and Cincinnati anti-free trade protests in the 90′s?). It is not new, it is not dire, and it is not a threat to our society.
Relax.

You have to laugh when McCain and the Repubs threaten not to cooperate for the rest of the year. So what’s going to be different? Regardless of what happened with health care, they weren’t going to work together with the Dems in any case. The Dems need to recognize realities and figure out ways to get things done without Republican help. After all, they’re not called the Party of NO for nothing.

Fifty-seven percent (57%) believe that if the plan passes, the cost of health care will go up. Only 17% believe the plan will achieve the stated goal of reducing the cost of care.
At the same time, most voters (54%) believe that passage of the plan will hurt the quality of care.

Is May-bee defending the shouting of racial epithets to black, hispanic and gay members of Congress? Are you saying it’s acceptable to spit on a Representative? All of course taking place while the Republican lawmaker fringe is cheering them on from the balcony.
McCain can go ahead and try to repeal the bill and explain to his age group why he wants them to pay more for prescription drugs; explain to parents why children w/a pre-existing condition should not have healthcare and why he wants the insurance companies to drop people when they get too sick. Go for it McCain. You’ll be about as successful as you were this past November.

Republicans are pushing a CNN poll that has opposition to health care reform legislation running to 59 percent.
That high opposition number is split — only 43 percent of people say they oppose the bill because it’s “too liberal,” while 13 percent say it’s “not liberal enough.”

This morning, a waitress told me how excited she was about this bill – that she’d had a back injury and was unable to get health care, but now she felt hopeful. I am so proud of Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats. For God’s sake, we need to take care of our citizens. This is the only Christian, spiritual, religious thing to do.
While you are digesting this and trying to compare it with Rush’s statements, please remember that the fascists were conservatives. Making sure that parents do not have to worry about whether their children will have care and people, like my sister – a 26-year cancer survivor who was unable to get health insurance because of her quarter century “pre-existing condition.” It is now time to work together to get health care reform that really works for our country.
It is exciting for me to think about how all of this is going to affect jobs in the health care area – physicians assistants, MS nurses, etc. This is very exciting.

“That high opposition number is split — only 43 percent of people say they oppose the bill because it’s “too liberal,” while 13 percent say it’s “not liberal enough.”

A Kaiser Family Foundation Health Tracking Poll, for example, finds that 46 percent of respondents either “strongly support” or “somewhat support” the bill, compared to 42 percent who either “strongly oppose” or “somewhat oppose” it. Twelve percent are unsure.
The same poll asked if the nation as a whole would be better off or worse off if President Obama and Congress passed the health care reform bill. Forty-five percent said “better off,” 34 percent said “worse off” and 14 percent said “not much difference.”

Polls a this time are meaningless. Once the healthcare bill is explained to the American people, and they begin to enjoy the early benefits, the bill will be be embraced in the same way that Medicare was first opposed and then accepted. Republicans will pay the price for their opposition to meaningful change.

David Frum (George Bush speech writer):
“Barack Obama badly wanted Republican votes for his plan. Could we have leveraged his desire to align the plan more closely with conservative views? To finance it without redistributive taxes on productive enterprise – without weighing so heavily on small business – without expanding Medicaid? Too late now. They are all the law.
“We followed the most radical voices in the party and the movement, and they led us to abject and irreversible defeat.
“There were leaders who knew better, who would have liked to deal. But they were trapped. Conservative talkers on Fox and talk radio had whipped the Republican voting base into such a frenzy that deal-making was rendered impossible. How do you negotiate with somebody who wants to murder your grandmother? Or – more exactly – with somebody whom your voters have been persuaded to believe wants to murder their grandmother?
“I’ve been on a soapbox for months now about the harm that our overheated talk is doing to us. Yes it mobilizes supporters – but by mobilizing them with hysterical accusations and pseudo-information, overheated talk has made it impossible for representatives to represent and elected leaders to lead.”

LMAO – If anyone questioned the wars or intelligence about going into war, they were labeled as unpatriotic and un-American. If a Democratic lawmaker was against a small part of a Republican bill, the Bush machine would say you were against the entire thing. Let’s use that logic and we can state unequivocally that Republicans do not want hard working Americans to have health insurance.

The media guru has spoken it seems. I have little trust with an individual who marketed individuals so that people like us would like them enough to vote for them (even a wolf in sheeps clothing). Do a bit of research to find out his history (and how he’s trying to separate himself for it).
Off subject (but tied to the topic), Axelrod’s campaign buddy David Plouffe sent the following item: President Barack Obama will soon sign comprehensive health care reform into law. A century-long fight will finally be won.
As the President wrote last night, it was you who made this improbable victory possible. It was volunteers knocking on doors, talking to neighbors, and proving once again that Americans, standing together, can change the course of a nation.
Supporters like us now have a chance to add our names as “Co-signers” of this historic legislation — adding our names next to President Obama’s to show our pride in helping to bring about this great achievement.
Organizing for America will establish a permanent archive with all the signatures, so that generations to come will have a record of those who stood together in this moment and won this fight for our future. And I will personally present all the names we collect to the President. Will you add your name?
Looks like we are all now zombies into the realm of cyberspace ;).

Regarding poll numbers, they are tailored to fit the respected opinion; if I’m more ‘left’ then my poll with favor one way whereas if I’m more ‘right’, then my poll will counter with another poll. Eg. MSNBC’s polls are quite the opposite of what’s being touted here. Folks shouln’t be “Angry” that healthcare, but they should be concerned how it was considered and voted upon. When backdoor deals are required to pass such a crucial bill (and I’m aware that pork is added to most bills), one should ask why is one state exempt or aided with incentives to help curb Medicare, etc. costs while my state won’t receive such amenities? Those who are uninsured might receive just aid, but I’m sure costs are going to go up a bit before things are truly ‘regulated’ (remember how the credit card companies took advantage of the time prior to the law coming into effect?). We have until 2014 before certain portions of the bill come into effect. Too much uncertainty and too much time – and I’m an optimist! Pelosi’s comment regarding Republicans being in bed with Insurance Companies would have more merit IF she wasn’t in bed with Bankers [investment or otherwise] ;). She’s got a few skeletons in her political closet so she shouldn’t crow as much as she does. Since there were Dems that didn’t agree with the bill (219-212), one should ask why they didn’t support it (didn’t receive any amenities for their state, etc.?). Perhaps they honestly listened to their constituent base–
–which should be the reason each member of the House voted the way they did. I doubt that was the case. If so, then the Dems should have little concern for the outcome of the mid-term elections in November. But maybe they did, which is why this health care bill was rushed so quickly through! Just mention Seniors (receive only $250 more for their meds – barely enough), kids (Dems and Repubs had the S-CHIP already), and uninsured (good, but costs will not be controlled as much as they believe). Jobs should be the priority, but with the health care bill passed, Dems will now go on to jobs hoping that all will be forgiven by November.

McCain does seem a lil bit edgy, starting to tilt starboard, uncontrollably , he does exhibit a strange pained smile recently as his political demise comes closer, he has fallen a great distance since 2000

Listen to yourselves people, you’re swinging so wild you might knock yourselves out with your own lunge.
This is why I will never understand a liberal – they lash out with pure emotion. The facts do not matter to you.
So here they are:
Rasmussen reports that 54% of Voters Oppose the Health Care Plan yet the president went against the will of America and forced this law down our throats. Don’t you think the American majority who just got thwarted have a platform to speak? Or do you expect us all to bend over again and say thank you sir may I have another?

The GOP house only needs to get a additional 112 seats this November to appeal or reform this bill come November. By then those with pre-existing conditions will be covered , kids up to age 26 can stay on their parents insurance ,and plenty more will occur . If the GOP or the tea wants to take away what the other 80% of us have been fighting for ,good luck, You haven’t a chance in hell! Your tea is looking mighty weak and getting old and needs to be destroyed. They might as well put their white hoods back on and go back were they came from!!!

Taxationwithout Representation…so it looks like it is going to be a real “dogfight ” between Pelosi, Reid and the Republican Party as a whole for the lowest “poll” numbers? Typical of the right. Focus on “distraction poll numbers” of Reid and Pelosi which mean absolutely in terms of the ‘big picture” and totally ignore their miserable showing as an entity. Oh by the way. That person with the 11% showing? She got the job done, didn’t she?

CNDFOX……ANY body could have got that job done given the bottomless pockets of the Federal Government. Even Stupak got his bribe….a new airport for his state. Just proves all of the liberals have a price tag. Pelosi just had to be able to find the right kickback…….and you act like that is something to be proud of….legislating by bribery and kickbacks.

Hey Pelosi, you gave about a dozen states special federal favors, maybe you should read this————-Section 8 – Powers of Congress
The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;

Maybe hundreds of anti-Obamacare protesters will set up camp outside Obama’s vacation home this summer.
Or maybe they’ll camp out for weeks on Nancy Pelosi’s lawn.
Or interrupt hearings dressed as grim reapers or with “blood” smeared on their hands.

You know those obnoxious kind of people that when you walk into the store to get kleenex the day after you’re day died, and you just want to get in and out,and because you’re a woman, they keep telling you to cheer up and smile, even though they have no idea what’s up?
I find them irritating.
And people who say, obnxiously, relax when you say you don’t like vandalism and racial slurs— I think they’re worse. Relax?
Mind your own business! I’ll smile and/or relax when I choose.
Keep defending it. that’s your right. But you won’t change my mind. I don’t like it. I certainly wouldn’t teach my kids to vandalize, spit on Congressmen and call them racial slurs, throw bricks through windows or threaten violence and assassination. Peaceful demonstrations and patriotic dissent don’t have to be violent.I prefer non-violence and nothing you can say will change my mind.

New Harris poll of Republicans:
57% believe Obama is a Muslim
45% believe Obama not born in the US
24% believe (not joking) Obama is the anti-Christ
I look forward to the day Republicans return from fantasyland.

Actually, Maybee and FL, rushing to defend and play down does imply quite a lot. You’re likely from a certain age or region and think certain things are still acceptable to the majority of people in this country. To many of us, its not okay. We’re pretty much over the blatant racism of some subgroups — and the hate.

The Republicans are playing a very dangerous game. They think that by giving a very small but vocal minority as much indirect encouragement and access to organization money as they can, they can use it to their advantage without taking the blame for any of their more extreme actions. The unfortunate problem with mobs is that they tend to take on a mind of their own, and, typically, there is no way to control them once they take on that mindset. So far the results have been disgusting and despicable (i.e. gangs of thugs yelling racial epithets and spitting at congressman and vandalizing their offices), but thankfully, relatively (emphasis on relatively) harmless. It could well be that tomorrow the results are a lot worse. John McCain and his partners in crime had better be ready to accept responsibility when this crap goes horribly wrong, and, trust me, it will.

The GOP has a very short, selective memory. I can recall some of the tricks pulled in the day of Genrich and the GOP congressional majority. They forget, conveniently, that the government of the U.S. is of the people, by the people, and FOR THE PEOPLE. The GOP avoids anything that would revise campaign finances or legislation sponsored by drug companies and the insurance and banking industries. They don’t have to worry about THEIR healthcare – it’s Cadillac PLUS.

The President’s senior adviser said, “You know, that’s okay on the sandlot but that’s not really okay when you’re trying to govern a country and move a country forward. It’s a disappointing attitude.”
So, the comments the President made about the Supreme Court, in front of Congress and the press, aren’t at all the same thing? Huh? Nice to have a selective view of things.
Both Repulicans and Democrats are just as guilty – no denying that!

Senator McCain is absolutely on the side of the insurance industry. I would like to know how much money his campaign has received from that industry.
I notice a pattern to the remarks by those objecting to the health bill. There aren’t any direct quotes to back up their claims of impending disaster. They just say vague, fear-inducing criticisms but without a valid quote and explanation.
Simply put, they can’t because this bill will be good for the American people, not so good for the insurance industry.

As far as I’m concerned, David Frum hit the nail on the head when it comes to the entertainer-types on Fox and talk radio (David Frum on GOP: Now We Work for Fox, ABC site– it has a link to his Waterloo post), not that I agree with him on policy. John McCain gave the country Sarah Palin and refuses to acknowledge that in large part, she cost him the election. He doesn’t understand that the race is over and he lost. The party that is in the minority can’t have everything they want so take what you can get and get back to work. This constant fight is not governing and is destroying the Republican Party. Simply pandering to the extreme right is not getting them more seats. It has cost them and will continue to do so unless they fight to get their party back. McCain is allowing the few to speak for the many. Get back to straight talk and stop changeing who you are.

McCain brags he will not cooperate or says he won’t do his job in the Senate. Gee, we pay him big bucks and pay his health care and he’s bragging about quitting on us. Gee, the Mouth of Hanoi who went on radio and tore down the USA, who cheated on his wife and then married his meal ticket, who was involved in the savings and loan scandals in the 1980s, is running out on another commitment. I guess he learned from Palin – it’s ok to make a promise to the voters, take our money, and then quit. It says a lot about their character doesn’t it.

He voted FOR the bailout-knowing what was in it-before he was against it. There are OVER 200 BILLS SITTING in the Senate NOW! What will Less cooperation Look like? Why in my district? John McCain Is a freind of the Insurance Companies but he is No Friend of Veterans
if you beleive that John McCain’s heroic record of service makes him the veteran’s friend then you need to look closely at his voting record. It is a record ofdeceit, cynicism and neglect.
Senator McCain has a long in undistinguished voting record on veterans issues. In 2006 the Disabled American Veterans awarded his a rating of 20% (versus 80% for Obama). In 2006 the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America awarded him a grade of D (versus B+ for Obama). Consider these specific votes:
■Voted against adding $430 million for veterans’s health care (Senate Vote 98, HR 4939, 4/26/06).
Voted against converting veterans’ health care funding into mandatory spending (Senate Vote 63, S. Con Res, 3/14/06).
■Voted against increasing veterans’ health care spending by ending certain corporate tax breaks (Senate Vote 41, S. Con Res, 2/14/06).
■Voted to kill $19 million for military and veterans’ hospitals (Senate vote 7, HR 4297, 2/2/06).
■Voted against establishing formula for veterans’ health care funding (senate vote 251, HR 2863, 10/5/05).
■Voted against protecting veterans, armed service members and spouces of deceased service members from new bankruptcy means test (Senate Vote 13, S.256, 3/1/05).
■Voted to kill transfer of Iraqi reconstruction funds to veterans’ health care (Senate Vote 379, S. 1689, 10/14/03).
McCain was at his most cynical and hypocritical worst during the debate on the GI Bill for the 21st Century. First he opposed it. Then he offered a bill to kill it. Then he missed the vote. Finally, he took credit for it.
