Let’s all wallow in this socialist malaise. How about 35 hrs work weeks while they are at it and 6 weeks of vacation a year mandatory.
I sure hope that when I am enderly my kids can turn me over to the state where they can ignore my pleas while I bake away like the 15000 French people did.
The members of the Fabian society and the PES must be popping the corks tonight.

History, all right. But, I’m thinking it won’t be the kind of history he’ll want his name attached to.
November could see the most incredible flip of power ever witnessed in this country.
Maybe he’ll get THAT message.

What Obama wanted to say:
I’ll make history on Sunday.
Seven presidents have tried and failed but I did it.
It’s all about me.
Who cares if it’s a losuy bill that will bankrupt America.
I am making History!!!

Obama seems real proud, considering that he had to beg his own party to save his presidency by passing a bad bill, any bill.
Begging was a last resort after all the threats, payoffs, bribes, and rides on Air Force-1.
Proud?
He should be ashamed after promising to be a different kind of politician, and change the way Washington works.
Obama is no different at all.

Tonight the CBO released the revised projection including the “doctor fix” which will add $208 billion to health care, wiping out any debt reduction and actually adding $59 billion to the Debt. They also mentioned that this cost was intentionally deleted from the true cost of health care reform.I don’t know if today’s Politico memo was genuine, but it seems to have been accurate in revealing how the Democrats have been lying about the financial cost of this bill.If there is no doctor fix you will see an end to most specialist participation in Medicare.

Nephron, don’t go trying to confuse folks around here with facts! Obama is out to make history– doesn’t matter if it’s good or bad, apparently, as long as it’s historic. I fear he is right, that he is going to go down in history for this “reform” legislation, but not in the way that he thinks he is.

Call and write to President Obama, your senator, representative and every news organization. Tell them this: “You allow this unconstitutional bill to pass through a technical procedure, and your future will be short-lived. Those in the Congress who vote for the Obama health care bill will see their hopes for re-election fail come this fall.”
Posted by: Bsummers | March 20, 2010, 12:43 am 12:43 am
Even the question, “Did Obama do enough to get health care passed?” posed on Nightline was offensive to me. It assumes he didn’t do too much. As ugly as politics may have always been I’ve never feared its power until now. The only transparency this president can take credit for is for corruption and ugliness of the political process. If this health care reform bill passes then we had better push through immigration reform lickety-split because the only future doctors and nurses of America won’t be speaking English.

Where can I find what’s included in this bill? It sounds horrible. One interview I saw today said that everyone will be required to have health insurance or face a fine – that is, unless you truly can’t afford health insurance.
Wasn’t that the whole point of health care reform? To help those who can’t afford insurance? How will they determine if you can afford it? If they go by gross pay alone, that doesn’t give the full picture as to how much a person can spare. I like the idea of people with preexisting conditions having access to care, but it feels wrong to me to force everyone to have health insurance. Most likely, the majority of people will have horrible insurance. Meanwhile, this administration will be patting themselves on the back for “reforming health care”.
It just seems like President Obama is desperate to make a significant change and throws ideas out until something sticks. I don’t know how insurance is any different than 5 years ago. Why is there suddenly a health care crisis that must be dealt with immediately? Why can’t we wait until we have a bill that won’t put the country in (worse) financial ruin?
Posted by: Sarah | March 20, 2010, 2:43 am 2:43 am
there are efforts to declare the health care bill unconstitutional specifically the part about requiring people to have health insurance. If that turns out to be true I would like to know if some other laws in place are also unconstitutional by that standard.
laws requiring car insurance
drivers licenses
my draft card
car registration
any sort of state ID
social security number
and probably many more laws already in place
My father is the one who suggested where this particular fight against health care might lead.
I have sent this message via a pirated internet connection not because I am greedy and will not pay for a legal connection but because I live in a trailer with my parents barely able to afford to buy food and pay bills. My only option to make my voice heard is to steal internet from my neighbors.
My mother got a flew shot one or two years ago and the flew shot caused severe arthritis throughout most of her joints. Now she has most of her mobility back eccept one of her elbows that she can no longer extend fully. After several months of sick leave her work place had to let her go (I do not really blame them they had no choice) but when they let her go she also lost the medical insurance she had through them. Now she can never get health insurance because of a pre existing condition. None of the three of us has a job I am getting enough money through unemployment to buy food until my unemployment dries up. I myself have never had my own health insurance. So I wonder if next year I happen to get a bad case of the flue will I have to choose between going to the doctor and eating.
This bill may not be the best thing to come across the United States president’s desk but for some of us it stands as our only hope of living a life with a roof still over our heads.
I intend to send this message to every major news station I can think of because I want to know who is willing to listen to people in low places.

Yes, the insurance industry gets the premiums and the government gets the fines from healthy 25 year olds that aren’t on mommy and daddy’s policy still. (26 is the new age of adulthood… five less years of productivity in society to help the economy, five less years to produce, five more years to consume and watch movies and play video games.)
Any other question$?

States, not the federal government, set requirements for auto insurance.
States, not the federal government issue driver’s licenses.
There is a difference between powers granted to the states in the Constitution and powers granted to the federal government–for good reason. Unless you live in the right district in California or Nevada, you will never have the chance to vote for or against Pelosi or Reid. There’s no public referendum on Congressional committee members–yet these are the people who will be controlling your health care decisions and micromanaging insurance companies. Various states have tried their own experiments with insurance mandates and policy requirements. Why does Congress think they have the right to overrule state decisions? Because the are determined to seize as much power as possible. Just watch. After this, the have a whole list of areas of your life they want to control. Obama’s just warming up. Federal control of school curriculum (sorry if you live in Oregon and want to study Lewis and Clark, the Washington bureaucrats don’t think that’s important). It’s all about increasing the power of Washington politicians. That is the opposite of the intent of a democracy.

Guaranteed, it won’t add to the deficit… because YOUR taxes and expenses are going up, sorry – because someone has to pay the bureaucrat’s salary (and the salaries of the newly minted 15,000 IRS agents that HCR authorizes). And if you’ve got kids, you just inherited 5 more years of premiums from them.
Whatever the outcome of HCR on our lives, you can rest assured of one thing: THE GOVERNMENT, LIKE LAWYERS, WILL NEVER COME OUT ‘LOSING MONEY’ – IT ALWAYS GETS PAID (with bonuses), EVEN FOR MAKING THE SITUATION WORSE.
Any you always foot the bill. So sorry. :-)

This Healthcare Reform will COST JOBS.
1. The proposed Medicare cuts will “force hospitals to be more efficient.” For private hospitals to continue making a profit they will have to cut costs. That usually means cutting the payroll either by paying less–in which case some employees will leave–or by laying off employees. Also when doctors receive even less reimbursements from Medicare, some will decide a career change is more profitable. Smaller staffs will result in less overall healthcare!
2. In some cases it will be much cheaper for small businesses to drop healthcare coverage for their employees and just pay the federal government’s fine. Then their Human Resources Department will no longer have to handle medical questions and issues (which could mean at least one less employee for small businesses and several employees for large corporations). In addition, their fines will be less if their payroll is less. So as in the case of hospitals, that will result in less pay and/or fewer employees.
3. The individual tax hikes that are proposed–specifically on the top 1%–will impact their spending. We’ve already seen what happens when the wealthy cut back on their spending.
Posted by: James Danley | March 20, 2010, 10:02 am 10:02 am
Thanks to Obama 16,000 IRS agents will have new jobs.
They will be the ones snooping around to verify who has insurance that is acceptable to the GOVERNMENT!
And if businesses and individuals do not comply there will be fines, penalties.
Did Obama put Geithner or Rangel in charge of these guys?
What a huge con game.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Congressional budget scorekeepers say a Medicare fix that Democrats included in earlier versions of their health care bill would push it into the red.
The Congressional Budget Office said Friday that rolling back a programmed cut in Medicare fees to doctors would cost $208 billion over 10 years. If added back to the health care overhaul bill, it would wipe out all the deficit reduction, leaving the legislation $59 billion in the red.
The so-called doc fix was part of the original House bill. Because of its high cost, Democrats decided to pursue it separately. Republicans say the cost should not be ignored. Congress has usually waived the cuts to doctors year by year.
I don’t know how many people know about this ‘doc fix’, but it’s yet another amazing coverup lie as to what the cost is going to be on this bloated, wasteful bill. This administration has to be one of the most deceptive I’ve seen in my lifetime. How any American can honestly say the bill is going to do so many good things AND cut the deficit is beyond me. Keep calling your representatives and tell them to vote NO.
Posted by: Shoe | March 20, 2010, 10:27 am 10:27 am
Sure its great that the CBO has estimated that over the next 20 years, this bill will cut the deficit by $1.3 trillion.
However, over the last several decades, the CBO has consistently overestimated the costs of health (mostly medicare) related legislation, and underestimated the savings.
If the CBO estimates the deficit reduction at $1.3 trillion, it is much more likely that it will reduce the deficit by closer to $2 trillion.

Where would Obama be if he was honest, and if the MSM reported the facts?
OCare taxes medical devices.
Prosthetics, wheelchairs, walkers, etc.
This one tax alone will cost jobs and hurt families and the middle class.
When the results of OCare hit the light of day Obama/Dems will be lucky to make it to November without being run out of town.

Question: What do the U.S. Dollar, Israel, the Fed and the U.S. stock market have in common? Answer: All are on the receiving end of a category 5 storm just about to hit America. First, the dollar, like all fiat currencies is suffering from mountains of insurmountable debt and manufactured “free” money. The sugar high the stock market is riding courtesy of Helicopter Ben Bernanke will reach equilibrium shortly after Ben signals his friends it’s time to leave the party. Our combination kindergarten-crips street gang in Washington has co-opted the recipe for elite governing via Union entitlement from Greece and the end game is not pretty. All the while the Obama date rape of America proceeds while pretending there is no crisis in the Israeli – American foundational security pact. Go know?, a mid level Interior minister in Israel approves permits for building in the Jewish section of Jerusalem and life sustaining arms shipments are diverted and an Obama induced intifada may begin.Pro Israel Dems are told don’t worry, Israel is simply being “not helpful”. So, Dems, go vote, while Iran and Russia extend their middle finger & the world laughs at the Hillary, Biden traveling circus. Well, at least Hawaii will have earthquake

“will makes history”. Did Obama really say that or did it slip by the ABC editors? Anyway, it will MAKE history and that is the goal of Obama. He figures, probably likely, that if he can socialize medicine it will lead to more of the private, religious, and charity sector being in government hands and control. Coupled with Obama’s other nationalizations and his goal of legalizing all criminal aliens will put him far ahead of his goal to destroy America and ensure one party rule- probably be “The One”.

Driving a car, selling cars, incorporating a business, etc are not “Rights” (as determined by the Constitution or by the Court). What is difference is the state forcing to buy auto insurance is you are using public roads. You don’t HAVE to buy it. You can ride a bike, take a bus, never leave your house, etc. But Obama, in his grandiose dreams, wants you to pay simply for LIVING! Just because you LIVE in Obamaland you will be forced to give your money to a private, for-profit corporation! Pretty sure that it is not Constitution, but since when does that matter? He also wants to FORCE you to get a national id (will be a part of his amnesty plans for criminal aliens.)

Pretty sad that he can find the time to appear TWICE in one week and wax eloquent about a couple basketball tournaments, yet can’t tell a Fox interviewer which of the illegal bribes are going to be included in his trainwreck health care bill set to take over 1/6th of our economy and cost 2.5 trillion dollars.

According to other polls, its pretty even as to how many support and how many oppose, and quite a few of the provisions are very popular. Of those who don’t support the bill, its been revealed that many don’t understand. Rather, they’ve bought into the disinformation campaign– or they’ve been too busy to play close attention.
As for the name calling, sticks and stones, baby. I realize many of the angry and confused feel the need to take it out on those who are neither confused or angry, but rather, pragmatic and determined to move the country into the 21st century, where universal health care is a reality for most democracies.

And the best part will be the IMPEACHMENT OF Barack Hussein Obama for bribery, quid pro quo’s, usurping the Constituion that he took an oath to protect and uphold. Obama is correct to say that passing this bill will make history, much as passing the Civil Rights Act, the Social Security Act and the Medicare legislation did. Just as those bills ended a lot of suffering by minorities and the elderly, the health care bill will help millions of Americans afford insurance, it will keep premiums affordable for those of us with insurance already and it will improve the entire health care delivery system with modernization of records, easing of emergency room crowding (as previously uninsured patients will know have their own doctor) as well as create many jobs in the medical field as the previously uninsured can afford to go for care.
The negativity about this bill is smoke and mirrors thrown at us by the insurance industry and those they employ. They have employed these same tactics every time health care legislation was on the table for the last 50 years.
My hats off to the brave legislators who will vote yes for the American people.
