i will no longer watch ABC programming because of the irresponsible interview just conducted on your “This Week” program. In letting Mr. Rove do all the talking on such an important day you have lost me forever. Let’s be clear, I welcome Mr. Rove’s comments. But to let him drown the response was a serious breach of your ethical duty to report the news. Shame on you. Not only will my family never watch another ABC program, today I will begin a campaign against you with every one I know.

I am furious over the lack of facilitation of that last interview with Rove and the other guy. Your facilitator was the worst I have ever seen. He should have shut Rove’s mic off! Either you guys are incompetent or biased your pick!

I have watched this week for years and am thinking about switching to meet the press. I thought this was supposed to be a news program. Karl Rove is renouned for misleading people. He presented several misleading statements that went unanswered and talked over the other guest. He and those like him are responsible for the level of disfunction in our political system and he does not deserve a mike to spout his propoganda.

I WILL NO LONGER WATCH “THIS WEEK”. Carl Rove was allowed to hijack the entire program. This was not a news program. It played more like Fox News. Carl was brilliantly in control spewing lies & misinformation.

The Democrats are declaring war on the citizenry. Every single poll indicates this through the disapproval level for this brand of healthcare reform. But hey, let’s blame Karl Rove. Morons.

Liberals don’t want to deal with the facts. They would rather name-call. They had better start planning now who they will blame when this whole healthcare bill, if passed, bankrupts the country and demolishes the healthcare system as we know it, making it less effective and MORE expensive for everyone who actually works and pays for health care. The main mistake Republicans made was giving in to the suggestions of Democrats and spending the way they wanted them to. The housing crisis was the result of Democrats like Dodd and Franks, not Republicans. I am praying hard this bill doesn’t pass, but the threats and bribes are working since most Democrats don’t have the moral strength and principles to do what they know is right for the country. To those of you who say this is what people voted for, you are WRONG. Look at the polls and talk to those around you. Even the people I know who voted for Obama and his ilk are angry about this bill. They did NOT vote for socialistic country where the government seeks to take over as much as it can as fast as it can while bankrupting the country at the same time.

To all Americans – you do not have to listen to any of the spinners – you have to try to figure this out for yourself – it is your life, your children’s future and common sense will tell you – adding millions of people onto an already broken government program called medicaid – is not a good idea. Imagine the government agencies that will be formed to handle this monstrosity – adding thousand to the IRS staff to monitor for non compliance.
New England medical journal recently reported at least 30% of general practicioners will leave the profession if this bill passes. Doctors can not survive, keep their offices staffed, and provide decent care with less money and more patients on the government entitlement program.
States – state by state – have to figure out what works for each entity – how to help their uninsured, etc. There are already fine state programs – no attention has been paid to doing this state by state – why?? Why – because the Dems want to socialize this country – WAKE UP!! Read the bill – consider the kick backs and realize – you can not make the poor rich by making the rich poor – you can destroy the economy by continuously hitting on the so called “rich”. Under this President the government will decide who is rich, who is poor, who gets what.
This is un-American by any stretch of the imagination. There is a college loan – government controlled – mandate in the health care reform bill – does that make any sense?? NO!!

One thing that jerk Plouffe said is true ,and only one, that all they want are the 15 million new votes. The liberals care less about the constitution or the American people. Vote them out.

KARL ROVE once again demonstrates his total lack of respect for the rules of debate and this time the amateur moderator ABC hired aided Karl in his rant against needed reform. Karl has a right to present his views, but not to drown out other voices. For the Republican party to equate passage of health care (insurance) reform to the biblical Armageddon only shows how bereft the party of Lincoln are of a coherent reform policy of their own. Of course after 8 years when the Republicans controlled Congress & the Presidency the American public should not be surprised that they cannot face the voters with a clear conscience. In 8 years the Republicans did not introduce any real reform proposals, with the exception of Tort reform. No limit against pre existing condition, no comprehensive preventable care program for minors, nothing.

I’m an independent and I don’t like often times George Stephanopoulos’ approach or style’s when it comes to geeting to the truth from his guests or else. However, I couldn’t stop puking, lisening/watching how lame/weak today’s host of “This week” was, it was a total disaster. He was reprehensible, shameful and disgraceful when he could not rein in his guests disallowing one to answer a question and blatantly spewing lies and scare tactics to advance their cause. I suppose, I must ask: “is ABC supporting or advancing a certain cause?”
I personnally feel that toady’s show, showcasing Rove and Plouffe was an insult to the american people’s intelligence. Maybe, this fellow should be working for FoxNews’ propaganda machine.

I am a small business owner strangled by increase after increase in healthcare costs. This may not work, but it’s worth a try. I can’t wait for the Democrats to try. The Republicans never did.

Rove is a tough person- he grew up in a poor, struggling family and had to work since he was a kid. He was robbed on the job twice in a convenience store- both at gunpoint- once with a sawed-off shotgun- when he was a kid. Bush did not cause the financial meltdown- CRA did.

This interview was a classic example of how Karl Rove got George W. Bush elected in the first place. He knew he needed to divide the nation to get Mr. Bush elected and he was successful. He invented this type of strategy and although it has been effective it has also arguably been the single most destructive force in our political process of today. Never apologize, attack, attack, attack, instill fear and don’t let your opponents speak. Appear strong & confident even if it is clear that you are wrong. Why was the tick allowed to dominate the conversation? It was inexcusable that someone in the control room did not silence him after it became clear that his tactic was to shout down the exchange of ideas. This exchange would be a disgrace on FOX, but on ABC is an atrocity.

Karl Rove’s fact were better than David Plouffe’s theories. R’s let the debt go up too high and paid a price in elections in ’06 and ’08. However, D’s have done 3X the debt in just one year and put us in that unsustainable level of debt to GDP. People in this country want common sense limited government, not big complicated programs. Why are all student loans going through the government now as part of this bill? Why do we need 10 years of increased taxes for six years of benefits? It’s to cook the CBO books and let the D’s claim less budget blow-out.

Rove cleaned Plouffe’s clock on this one. Rove presented the facts and Plouffe couldn’t counter them so he resorted to whining. Team Obama is steering this country towards an economic waterfall and then complaining that Republican’s aren’t lifting an oar to help. Hah! For all you whiners who don’t want to hear the truth and want Rove shut up, you can get your Kool Aid over at MSNBC.

I am surprised how poorly this discourse was moderated. I didn’t realize that ABC was channeling that fair and balanced reporting that Fox News is famous for. ABC should not forget that its use of the public spectrum comes with a responsibility for even handed and truthful reporting. Clinton raised taxes, and only when Republicans took over congress did he lower the capital gains tax that helped the improved the economy, and under he also initially was against welfare reform until Republicans persuaded him to sign it. Bush had to fight two against against radical Muslims who want to fry all of us, and during the last few years of his term the deficit was being significantly. Democrats pander to labor unions and govt. unions, trial lawyers, Earth-worshipers, and other destroyers of the free market system. Look what happened in the northeast and CA, and how the new Republican Gov. Christie is trying to fix it. Absolutely I trust Republicans more than Democrats on fiscal issues, although you you might need to have a few Democrats around just to force Republicans to be true to their principles.

I’m an independent and I don’t like often times George Stephanopoulos’ approach or style’s when it comes to geeting to the truth from his guests or else. Ever since I witnessed the disgusting behavior of liberals and hippies against our troops during the Viet Nam war (a war escalated by a DEMOCRAT- President Johnson), I have considered democrats to be liberal, disrespectful to the US Constitution, anti-military and lacking real-world logic. They are responsible for >90% of what is wrong in Government.
In some cases, our brave troops have bled and died to defend them, only to be spat upon back at home.
In my opinion, Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Axelrod, Emanuel, and the majority of democrats in this country are anti-American and, in some cases, traitors to their country. Obama is mentally ill, including NPD (narcissistic personality disorder) and pathological lying. He is the WORST type of person to be in the position he is in. It is evident over the last 15 months. He would destroy this country politically, economically, culturally and militarily to feed his narcissism and his political agenda. The Democrat health care bill uses accounting gimmicks to get the CBO to say “deficit neutral” or “reduce deficit” by using 10 years of tax revenues to pay for 6 years of benefits. Bernie Madoff accounting indeed! No wonder Bernie was a card carrying Democrat – this must make him proud!

I watched this interview today. I don’t usually watch This Week because of its left agenda. However Jon Karl is the lone fair reporter on ABC News, so I tuned in. He didn’t disappoint. It’s not his fault that Plouffe the Fluff had nothing factual to say.Yes Karl Rove was aggressive in his responses. But it was all about FACTS.Democrats don’t deal in facts.

I found myself literally shouting at the television screen for Karl Rove to shut his mouth and let Plouffe finish a thought. Allowing a paid Fox “pundit” like Rove to completely shut out any possibility of hearing a rational discussion was inexcusable. I saw the whole thing and it was AWESOME. I loved it. Rove hit Plouffe with facts that needed to be addressed (and were not by Plouffe who tried to brush it off or use the old switch and attack the other guy), but Rove did not let him get away with it. I loved it. Someone needs to have the guts to say what Rove did (and no, I have never been a huge Rove fan, but he was AWESOME today), and not be distracted by the other sides nonsense. This bill is terrible for our country, and the Democrats are cooking the books while the CBO can only go on what they are told by the Obama administration and Congress.

This morning’s “This Week” was the worst excuse for a “news” program that I’ve seen in a very long time. Why would Jon Karl allow Karl Rove to hijack this message if not because he agrees with that message. Mr. Karl’s interview with former Vice-President Cheney should have been the first clue as to where his agenda lies. By the way, was the white board Karl Rove used the same one that Jonathan Karl used on a CNN report I just watched? …just sayin’.

Why didn’t the moderator force Plouffe to answwer at least one question? Plouffe wasn’t allowed to speak much because he never answered a single question on topic. He can’t.

What a disappointing program – what a waste of my time. I learned nothing excpet how rude Karl Rove really is. He needs to take a high school debate class and learn to play by the rules. I watched like a hawk as this Administration “My President and Yours” did everything he could to achieve Bi-partisan engagement and dialogue to the point of literally alienating his own political parties base. Yet I still hear the talking heads repeating that this effort was not taken or pursued.
It doesn’t matter how many times they pass that kool-Aid around I will never drink it. Ronald Regan would be as mad as hell if he were alive. The karl Roves of the world are indeed very dangerous because there is no moral compass in his heart and I am begining to worry if any of my GOP leadership still have one.
The reason this Health Care reform Bill is so watered down is simply because the left fell prey to the tactics of which my Republican party has perfected. Stall, delay, lie and lie again…scare the elderly and the disabled roust those most vulnerable amongst us into fighting against the very things that would benefit them and that they truly deserve. Muddy the waters confuse the issues and demonize the opposition. I never hear Goerge Will talk about any of those dynamics and I wonder why…after all he is a very smart man and knows full well these tactics influence the public polls tremendously.

Rove’s figures were HIS facts, not THE facts. Every time Plouffe tried to talk about THE facts presented by the non-partisan CBO, Rove shouted over him. The economic consequences of health care reform are debatable, especially the way the CBO scores its untested features. The American people deserved to hear a real debate, along with an informed and responsible moderator (perhaps from the CBO itself??)
Those who take Economics 301 learn that the theory of market optimality through competition taught in Economics 101 is a myth. The lowest cost option for an established market is a well regulated monopoly. Unfortunately, Congress, thanks to fear mongering by partisans, has so far refused to regulate the medical procedures based on their cost and effectiveness, and instead is choosing to throw more money at the most inefficient part of the health industry: useless competition between insurance companies. Businesses succeed when they take calculated risks with a cool head. Medical cost reform based on fear and panic, fanned by partisanship and poor media coverage will do well to make small gains.
All Americans are already poorly covered – through wasteful emergency room visits and other tattered social programs. We have an opportunity to bring everyone into the program so that we can make better collective decisions. So while this bill is wasteful, I support it as the best our ridiculous 2-party system can presently deliver.

I think we’ve all seen pundits “over-talk” other pundits. It’s intensity is a function of the narrow window that all of the main news shows provide. This is as intense as it can get. However, it is somewhat different that someone like Karl Rove is showing up on ABC, which is largely seen as a left-leaning organization, rather than FOX. It’s to ABC’s credit that they had him on to debate Plouffe; the two top pundits. Yeah, he may have “over-talked” a bit, but I do think Plouffe had ample opportunity to address the issues regarding double-counting of some of the health care savings. He chose not to. Rove was largely throwing out numbers from the CBO, which he noted several times as not his numbers. He was a bit of a bull in the china shop, but also reflected a growing intolerance to not accept the spin. I think we should take a deep breath and thank ABC for bringing this to us. We need to see more of this.

It is amazing that liberals never have to answer for the facts; they only have to think up more ad hominem attacks on their opponents character. Plouffe never addressed anything that Rove brought up, only gave the same tired false argument about Bush running up the deficit when Obama has spent more in the first year of his term than Bush did in 8 years…Look it up, do the math, be amazed at the brazen lies these people hide behind only to advance their agenda of enslaving us all for their own power.

its so funny how Democrats want to avoid talking about the actual cost and facts in the health care bill. IN the televised summitt Paul Ryan brings up the creative accounting methods that the CBO had to confirm separately and the democrats response was “We dont care”. Bring the actual bill to a meeting or read from it and all of the sudden its a “prop”.
Rove busts out a chart with the costs and Plouffe like his master can’t argue the costs. He can’t argue without lying that they are double counting 500 billion in medicare savings (as confirmed by the CBO), that the Doc Fix puts Obamacare into the red (as confirmed by the CBO), that obamacare will cut medicare benefits (as confirmed by the CBO), that health premiums will rise under Obamacare more then by inaction (also confirmed by the CBO). The fact they refuse to argue the details illuminates the fact they are lying!
Even with the fairy numbers in the healthcare bill (helped along by studnet loans which have nothing to do with health care) the supposed reductions in the deficit (130 billion) is less then the budget deficit they run just last month (200+billion)!

This is a dose of reality desperately needed by those who think this HCB is going to balance society through social justice. The whole thing is a lie and subterfuge designed to set the framework for a larger socialist single payer program. The numbers presented by Rove underscore the reality as Pfoufle (the direct advirsor to the President mind you) is trying only to spew more baseless campaign jargon. If the moderator failed their duty, it was to make Plouffe ANSWER THE ASSERTIONS and not just go back to his canned TALKING POINTS. A good moderator would press either side, saying “You didn’t answer the question” and/or “You still didn’t address his point.”

More importantly; if this legislation is so ‘direly needed’ right now, why is it that it doesn’t go into effect until 2013 – very conveniently after the 2012 elections after they will have about 15 million newly legalized border jumpers added to the voter rolls. After this health insurance debacle gets passed, they will head straight for the legalization of all of the illegal aliens. This is hussein’s only hope for re-election.
Also; I love the part about “cutting the deficit by $130billion”. Yea – after raising it by about $2 Trillion. Where is the actual “cut”? We are on the fast track to socialism and economic ruin. The bill will pass, although the democrats will lose seats in 2010, they will retain the majority in both houses. If the republicans run on repealing this bill, they will only help the democrats. Americans are not going to vote for repealing no more pre-existing conditons or against letting a child remain on the parents insurance until age 26.

I hate Rove, but I have to say that he was presenting facts and his opinion while Plouffe spent most of his time attacking the messenger….oddly enough, much like some of the responses here. The fact is that there simply are not enough physicians in current practice, or even in the 9-10 year pipeline, to service all of these 30-50 million people this bill will dump on the health system–and while it is in transition no less.
As it is now, the US primary physician capacity is already stressed to the point that patients are lucky to get even 10 minutes of face time with an actual doctor–many patients are only getting to see NP’s and PA’s.
More to the point, many of those physicians, like my wife, are already looking for the exit doors–her office has already stopped accepting new patients as her two partners and her are seriously looking at alternative careers.

It is clear that the DEMS don’t stand a chance debating Karl Rove. He knows the facts better than anyone so they can never win arguments against him based on facts. Plouffe is doing what Obama has done from day one, smoke and mirrors and pulling the wool over people’s eyes.

Rove was the one presenting actual numbers and specifics of the economic repercussions of this particular health care reform bill. Mr. Plouffe did not respond specifically to any of the issues Mr. Rove presented, but resorted, once again, to generalities and talking points. If those who are against this bill resort to shouting, it is because the Democrats continue to turn a deaf ear to their concerns.

If Plouffe gave any kind of honest response, Rove wouldn’t have had to constantly call him out. Say whatever you want about Rove, Bush, Cheney, etc. but Plouffe obiviously was avoiding just how damaging this “reform” will be for our country.

ABC should think twice about giving Karl Rove a platform to try to rehabilitate his legacy. He is no Tim Russert with his board, and while there may be some challenges in financing the health care bill, at least they tried to pay for it (unlike Bush’s domestic policies and Iraq War). Of course, this is from a man who predicted Republican gains in 06 and whose main political accomplishments were 2 close presidential campaigns based on fear and divisiveness (a gay marriage amendment that was dropped immediately) and a social security privatization bill that was killed in the grave and would have been a true disaster in the meltdown. He should go back to spending quality time with his family (we saw how that worked out).

I urge you to look into the facts and see what the results will be: Your health insurance premiums will increase (source A/P fact check and CBO report), if you are fortunate enough to have a job and employer provided health insurance you are likely to lose it (this bill makes it cheaper for your employer to drop health insurance and pay the fees and fines the government wants), you will then be mandated to purchase your own coverage and this will be monitored by the IRS. Although Mr. Obama has tried to claim this bill will reduce the deficit that has been disproved by the CBO. In additional the Congress is counting on $500 Billiion in Medicare savings through cutting Doctors rates by 20%. Congress if it follows past pattersn will defer and not make this cut adding even more red ink to our defict or if they do keep these cuts will see almost every physician in the country cease taking Medicare patients. But please consider this just using your common sense; how can the Government spend $940 Billion dollars (their figure but we know from past experience this is likely to grow immensley) in this new entitlement and not increase the deficit? How long do you think China will alllow us to borrow money from them to pay for our health care costs? What will happen when we cannot pay back out debts? I hope and pray there will be reason and common sense on the other side of this discussion rather than partisanship and name calling. If you disagree tell us all how this will possibly work?

When this program fails, as have the other keystones of liberalism (SS, broke; Medicare, broke; and the “Great Society”, serving only to pertetuate proverty), the Dems will again accept no responsibility and take the position we just didn’t spent enough money. These people want to turn the entire country into Detroit and California. Rove is right, the only change the progressives want is the bankruptcy of the country and the further enslavement of it’s citizens.

Consider if gov’t stayed out of the free market. You would not have banks willing to make over leveraged bets on speculation. Healthcare would be much cheaper and better. Medicare/Medicaid are not accepted by many practitioners and recently Walgreens stopped accepting new Medicaid orders because the gov’t doesn’t actually pay full price on products which shifts the responsibility to pay an inflated full price to the privately insured. Thus we have higher private premiums to subsidize the massive runaway spending that is medicare. Allow the private sector to operate without the lead weight that is gov’t and you get everything you could dream of at half the price.

So, how many times does the same person post some variation of the comment, complaining about Karl Rove. I see Acorn workers hard at work.

There are only so many working people left who are ok, with handing over 50%+ of their labor so that 45% of this country does not have to lift a finger.

The hypocrisy of those complaining here is not too surprising. The majority of those who watch this program each week are liberals, and they watch it because of its clear liberal bias week in and week out. In complaining about Rove and his assertive refusal to put up with one Democrat talking point after another, those complaining have chosen to ignore previous weeks, in which the program was heavily weighted to the liberal side, and the single conservative voice was constantly drowned out. The “big budget surpluses” Plouffe referred to were budget surpluses only because of the expenditures kept off the books and the misuse of Social Security funds as credits to the general treasury. The budget surplus at the end of the Clinton administration was a bald falsehood.

Plouffe got his ass kicked and he deserved it for intentionally lying to Americans about the TRUE cost of this health care bill. The sad truth is that this bill is not about reducing health care costs or extending access. It is about saving the Obama presidency and about expanding the size of the federal government. Once again Democrats have put Democrats first just as they did when Harry Reid declared, “This war is lost!” In my mind there is not a liberal alive that isn’t a communist and, therefore, a traitor.

At first when I happened on to this page I said WOW the attitude has changed I thought the majority of the country was against this. Then I realized that people were talking about ABC. It is interesting to listen to the video and read the transcript, and then read all the commenters who believe that ABC should have shut up Rove. Rove and Plouffe had roughly equal amounts of time to make their points, so what’s the problem? The fact is, liberals believe in the First Amendment, but only for liberals. They like to portray themselves as tolerant, but they actually are intolerant of other points of view. They would say, oh, but we can’t tolerate someone telling lies, so moderators have to stop conservatives when they tell lies. Democrats began leaking “CBO” numbers before the CBO had published its report, and the CBO now says that, once the “doc fix” is in, which Pelosi promised to push through immediately after the reform legislation, it will run an approx. $59B deficit over 10 years.

ALSO if the bill is same good why are the Democrats scrambling to get their own votes? Also does anyone out there really think a major piece of legislation should have no bipartisian support. If this bill were so wonderful and the American people truly wanted it, why didn’t this thing sail through the house and senate back in December? Rove had facts. Plouffe could have just told him where he is wrong, if he could, which it appears he was unable to do. Plouffe cannot just sight CBO scoring when most people understand the CBO can only play the hand they are dealt by the Congress. The CBO is not allowed to argue the the scenarios of the bill are incomplete. Otherwise the Congress would not have double counted the $500B in Medicare costs (and what will happen to Medicare?) and the bill would have included the $247B in Medicare doctor payments they purposely left to another time and bill.
Plouffe is relying on the American people to look for handouts, be seduced by all the anecdotal sob stories and desire to obtain other peoples money through wealth transfer of progressive taxation rather than will look at the numbers.
Plouffe is a big boy he shouldn’t need the moderator to protect him.

This is the first chance I have had to send a comment on this morning’s This Week and it is reassuring to see that so many other viewers were furious about the moderator. Not only did he allow Rove to monopolize the debate, later he was more of a third Republican in the Round table discussion than an objective facilitator.
This show has degenerated since George S. left and I do not think that I will continue to watch it.
Further, I tried to call both ABC’s New York and Washington D.C.’s offices and neither of them permitted comments. The receptionist just kept connecting me to a line that would not work. Perhaps there were so many irate viewers calling it was jammed.

Excuse me for saying so … but, if a person can’t come up with the initial premium to begin with … HOW is a “tax break” at the END of the year going to help them? But, at the same time … The Republicans are doing nothing more than acting as big bunch of little sore looser cry baby losers who just had their bottle taken away from them & they are doing nothing more than lashing out every chance they get & TWISTING the facts. The Budget Accounting office IS right … & it DOES state that there will be almost a TRILLION Dollar savings to us over the next 20 years. And, I don’t know if anyone has bothered to look at other countries that have universal health care but, If you look at the percentage of Health Care Costs compared to a Country’s GDP. Hands down the savings to these countries by having such a program FAR exceeds what we as Americans are spending on health care now!
The U.S. spends just about 16% of our GDP on Health Care were as the HIGHEST figure from any other Country I have seen was about 11% of their respective GDP. MOST were far FAR below 10% … sometimes as little as 1.1%. I mean, there is NO comparison! This IS going to save us money! IF were are all PATIENT enough to let it work!

It appears ABC’s THIS WEEK is losing its credibility with its viewership…or simply doesn’t care. Either find a moderator that can mediate and call out guests that blurt out blatant lies or be considered just another FOX News affiliate.

Because of Karl Rove’s continued interruptions of David Plouffe and of Rick’s inability to make Karl wait his turn, the episode may just as well have been named “The Karl Rove Monologues”. I understand that there may not be any really effective way of making sure that debaters have their full say but I wished at the time that Rick had some control of Karl’s microphone and could have shut it down during select strategic times in the show.

It is funny how the CBO themselves said that he doctor fix was not in the bill being voted on today and that inclusion of that fix will put the bill billions in the red. Then Nancy Pelosi said 2 days ago that immediatley following passage of this bill they will begin work on the doctor fix. At the same time all the democratics point at the CBO report of cost savings while ignoring the paragragh in the same report that says it will be in the red with the doctor fix Nancy Pelosi promises is coming next week. We have been hearing for years the SSN is broke, medicare is broke, medicaid is broke and we are expected to believe that this new giant entitlement program is going to save us money.

• Social Security was established in 1935. You have had 74 years to get it right and it is broke..
• Fannie Mae was established in 1938. You have had 71 years to get it right and it is broke.

Rove presented facts…actual CBO data. Plouffe had no rebuttal other than a glaring attempt to avoid the hard data by attacking Rove/Bush. I hope everyone realizes that Plouffe knew these questions would be posed. There’s zero chance he wasn’t expecting them. He just has no good answer, nor does anyone supporting this bill.
I am impressed that I saw a real debate on ABC that presented both sides and I will watch this show regularly from now on.

I have figured that, although my gross income is well, well below $250,000, I will be paying 50% more in combined taxes under this welfare plan, and these taxes will go to pay for lazy, unemployed freeloaders. If they receive healthcare, make them work at a garbage dump, same as government agency, with a “make job”.

It would also seem that the dem/lib side of these comments are extremely hostile to opposing points of view. Very little listening or analysis. Way to much anger/hate. We have had a new administration for about 14 months now.

As someone who believes in fair and equal representation I was disappointed by the moderator who only acknowledged the liberal indiviuals he interviewed. He didn’t even give Rove a chance to speak without interuption and didn’t even give eye contract to any conservative memember of the round table. It’s a terrible representation of jouralism.

I’m a Republican, but I have to admit it was a little uncomfortable for me to watch Karl Rove anihilate poor, hapless David Plouffe on your show. In the name of fairness, if you are going to have Rove on your show again, please put him up against 5 or 10 liberals simultaneously. Putting a liberal simpleton up against an informed, articulate and intelligent conservative like Rove was a disservice to your fans. Just read the posts here to see how traumatized all your pseudo-intellectual left wing viewers are now. It is vitally important for liberals that you help perpetuate the myth of their intellectual superiority. You dropped the ball today, ABC. If it happens again, liberals will follow through on their threats to stop watching. They don’t like honest debate and they can’t handle the truth.

Bravo Karl! All Plouffe could come up with was name calling-he couldn’t refute the numbers that the CBO came up with. It’s about time ABC didn’t just roll over and become a Democrat party mouthpiece, like MSNBC.

Wow, I’m shocked ABC allowed this to air! Karl Rove was awesome! It’s about time conservatives take off the gloves and fight back. Democrats always try to appeal to emotion and ignorance. Conservatives use history and facts to articulate an argument. If ABC keeps it up, their ratings will definately improve. This is incredible! If this bill is so great for our country, why hasn’t it passed already? It’s because even liberal congressmen know that it isn’t the best way to achieve healthcare reform. Obama the great Unifier has done more to tear this country apart than any politician in decades. He doesn’t begin to represent “the people” as he said he would. He represents a power hungry agenda that makes me sad to have to call him president. Just because Mr. Rove had the mic for a while today and was able to deftly point out what is all too true, makes all of you who want this bill to pass at any cost, very angry! And the key here is AT ANY COST. If this were a good bill, wouldn’t we all want it? I would want it in a second if I thought it would be the best way to achieve reform. All it will achieve is higher taxes, long lines at the doctor, and more government intrusion into my choices. Screw it!

Instead of a big government solution – the healthcare situation COULD be solved by other means.
- Expand Medical Savings accounts and allow these to carry over from year to year (it is Democrats who have always blocked expansion of these SUCCESSFUL plans.
- Couple higher deductible office visit & prescription drug insurance plans (people would be paying for those from their MSA, using “tax free” dollars ) with catastrophic coverage plans that kick in when a persons MSA funds would be exhaused. For example, let’s say you get $10,000 in your MSA, but then have a car wreck and a $50,000 bill. Your “catastrophic” coverage, which is already reasonable priced, would kick in and protect you from financial ruin.
- FOR MUCH LESS than the cost of this legislation, you could FULLY FUND expanded Medical Savings Accounts for nearly all low income Americans. If their are 20 million uninsured, then giving each of them $10000 for an MSA would cost only $20 Billion – COMPARED TO THE TRILLIONS THIS PROGRAM WILL COST
- The Expanded MSA could also come with expanded rules for those who remain healthy and don’t spend the money. People could be allowed to withdraw the money during retirement for example, or to pay for college tuition for themselves and their children.
MOST IMPORTANTLY – a FREE MARKET solution like this would dramatically lower cost over time, as people became more involved in their healthcare buying decisions. Want an example of how this would work? Look at laser eye surgery!! This treatment is not covered by most insurance, and the providers must compete for their clients. The result has been that the cost for these procedures has dropped dramatically over the past few years, while the QUALITY OF THE SERVICE has increased.
Our current heathcare system is based on the “All you can eat Buffet” method of paying. Once people have “coverage” – they abuse the system, with doctors visit co-pay amounts being too low to discourage people from frivoulous use of the system. Same thing with prescription drugs – and we now have “antibiotic resistant superbugs” as a result. 30 or 40 years ago, when a kid got a cold, his mother took care of him. Now, “little Johnny” is rushed into the Dr. office, or the local urgent care office, to see a doctor who really doesn’t need to see him, and given a prescription for Amoxicillin that he doesn’t need either. People don’t think twice about it – I know because my family has done this to – simply because the cost of the Dr. visit and the $10 or $15 co-pay on the prescription are too low. Put people back in charge of spending more of their own healthcare dollars – and people will “self ration” based on true need. Instead of this – we are going to be faced with government imposed rationing, like that coming soon to Massachusetts – thank to Obama and his henchmen.
There is one more thing that is going to happen – whether this bill passes or not. There is going to be HELL TO PAY at the ballot box this November, and Democratic attempts to “limit” their losses by passing this bill aren’t going to save them.
If you are a Democratic man or woman member of Congress, with a single patriotic bone in your body, you do have one way to possibly save yourself. Stop this slide to socialism, switch parties if necessary, and your courage will be rewarded. This country made a huge mistake by allowing THUG Chicago politicians to take over the executive branch. The damage they will be may be significant, but not unrepairable. Attempts to compare passage of this legislation to other programs like Medicare or Social Security are a JOKE. The closest example would be to consider the “Great Society” welfare programs of the 1960′s – those which were promised to end povertly as we know it. Instead, those programs have created a permanent underclass to society, black and white, urban and rural, of people whose hope for a better life exists only in the amount of the government check they are dependent on.
This program is far more dangerous. It is not designed to be a “temporary” aid to people like welfare or food stamps. It is not designed to only cover people in a certain stage of life, like Social Security or Mediare. IT IS DESIGNED TO CREATE A LIFE LONG DEPENDENCY ON A GOVERNMENT HANDOUT. If you are a child born to a middle class family who is eligible for a “subsidy” for healthcare insurance, and you grow up to live a similar existence, you will spend EVERY DAY OF YOUR LIFE getting a handout from the government.

I hope we get everything that’s coming at us! Free food, free medical, I even hope they cover us for hurricane damages. Thank god for dem’s.

With this and the EPA is there any action a human being could take that won’t have government precedent to TAX. In other word they will control you like to skydive or mountain climb thats dangerous you pay more. Own a gun you are 15.4% more likely to need health care here’s your tax. Liberals will bring every sad story in the world to avoid the facts.

let me tell you this short man known as karl, i have never stand this angry blunted man.. i was listening to him on an interview on NPR the other day.. while he is touring couple of the net works, trying to sell his new garbage.. the host asked him about his father (who happen to be gay).. this guy became very diffensive, and try to bully her.. i’m afraid this guy is either a product of childhood abuse, or still in the closet an struggling to come out.. as he has a stong resentment and anger in him, and he is deffinately a good candidate for psychotherapy.

This Bill is a travesty. Karl Rove presented facts, Plouffe spouted out talking points…all he knows he that he hates Bush…they are like little kids in a candy store and all of the american people’s money in their pocket. The glutinous pigs of the looney left can’t stuff enough of your money in their fat mouths, and you idiots are clapping and following Pelosi off a cliff….so so sad…In November the adults will finally return to spank your little bottoms and try and clean up the mess you guys made.

Rove responded to criticisms leveled by Ploffe with facts; Ploffe responded to criticisms leveled by Rove with insults. Rove answered the insults with facts, Ploffe answered the facts with fresh insults. Its easier to demean one’s opponent than it is to debate him, especially if the facts are on his side.

Actually, Karl did not dominate the conversation because he interrupted. He dominated the conversation because Plouffe HAD NO RESPONSE TO THE FACTS. He gave him plenty of time to respond to THE FACTS and he continued to make little smug comments about the Republican Party’s credibility and other irrelevant information. Watched Matt Damon’s GREEN ZONE last night. Had forgotten how both, corrupt and stupid, the Cheney/Rove people were in Iraq. Rove misled about WMD and initially perjured himself to the grand jury-LIAR. He joined in an attack on Joe Wilson’s wife instead of taking Wilson on directly. Then he let Libby take the fall alone-COWARD.
Yet the MSM still holds him up a as a credible political commenatator. Maybe next, week you can get Charlie Manson to come on the show and comment about non-violence.

You know. No one ever looks at the whole picture. Where is the common sense in Washington? It goes full circle back to the Clinton administration with Fanny & Freddy allowing people to buy homes even if they could not afford it, Americans running up debt they could not afford, and Wall Street greed that was not prevented during the Bush administration. Obama claims he inherited trillions in debt, but that’s not an excuse for him to run that up triple over what it is now the next 10 years.They just cut government health care for military 20%, telling doctors “this is what we will pay you. Accept it.” they tell me that “this is where you go or we won’t pay” How long will it be before doctors don’t accept it, and the quality goes down hill? Soon there won’t even be incentive to become a doctor.

I find it very interesting that so many of you had a problem with Roves passion but let Plouffe slide on his playground name calling and general lack of professionalism. I myself would have liked to have seen a hearty debate between two grown-ups!

Rove is not the problem folks! Democrats bankrupting the country in order to “buy” more votes is the problem. But, by all means, let’s give everybody free stuff until the money runs out and China quits buying our worthless debt. Your great-great-great grandchildren will never be able to pay off the debt you are leaving them. Doesn’t anyone believe in personal responsibility anymore? Oh, and by the way, your precious 401-K is the next thing the Democrats will lay claim to. He is a union member who will be exempt from paying a tax on his “Cadillac” health care plan…thanks to the health care bill.
He has an retired uncle who lives in Nebraska where folks on Medicare will
have an exemption from losing benefit
…thanks to the health care bill.
He has a niece who lives in Louisiana,
a state receiving a windfall…thanks to the health care bill.
He has a cousin who works at a community
bank in Montana which will be allowed to offer student loans while other banks cannot…thanks to the health care bill.
He has an aunt living in California who will now be allowed to access water for her farm…thanks to the health care bill.
Finally, he has a cousin who is not a
citizen who will be covered…thanks to the health care bill.
YUP…everything is going as planned….

You all need to look at the numbers. The days of magical thinking have taken us to the brink of financial collapse. Stop moralizing and nitpicking about who should speak how. Wake up. The ships bloody sinking!

But it’s like a soup where you start off with a few fine vegetables then shovel in dog poop and serve it in electrified bowls. When people complain about all the poop and the shocks, then you point to the few fine vegetables and say how good it all is. Ridiculous Leftists!

I watch every week, often, like today, watching a delayed recording.
For those of us who understand the complexity of the issues, Karl Rove was a cheep sleazy insult. Shame on ABC for giving him such free reign.
I will never listen to another “Rove Rant” again… if I see him on ABC, I will simply stop watching.
