GOP Doc Asks Pelosi: ‘Are you so arrogant … ignorant … incompetent?’

ABC’s Z. Byron Wolf reports: Democrats might have themselves a health reform bill, but Republicans have doctors – way more doctors in Congress, anyway, than Democrats. And they’re steamed. Eleven members of the Republican doctors railed against Democrats health reform plan this afternoon, demonstrating the increasingly heated and personal rhetoric surrounding the health reform bill. Here’s the most vitriolic: “I have three simple questions Ms Pelosi,” said Rep. Paul Broun, R-Ga. “Are you so arrogant that you think you know what’s best for the American people? Are you so ignorant that you are oblivious to the wishes of the American people? And are you so incompetent that you are going to ignore the Constitution of the United States, use tricks, deceptions, bald faced lies to try to ram down the throat of the American people something that they do not want and is going to be absolutely worse for their healthcare?” Broun is a family doctor from Athens, who, according to his website, is “well-known for being Georgia’s only 100% house-call doctor.” The senators in the group pledged to hold health reform votes against House members and do their best to amend the bill in the Senate to force another vote in the House. Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla., said he’d hold up the nomination House members who support the health reform bill should they be nominated to the Obama administration. He promised to try to root out goodies for them in upcoming appropriations bills.

“According to Broun’s website, legislation will only be passed based on his “Four Way Test”, which includes: “1) Is it moral/right?, 2) Is it constitutional?, 3) Is it necessary?, and 4) Is it affordable?”.”
Well there are my questions for you sir… Are you so arrogant as to post that on your website and then ignore it?
Are you so ignorant to the fact that you were narrowly elected, and that those who voted against are also your constituents? You are there to represent EVERYONE in your district… not just the rich Doctors.
In May 2009, Broun proposed legislation that 2010 be proclaimed “The Year Of The Bible”. Are you also too incompetent to understand the Separation of Church and State that you want to introduce Federal legislation to promote one religion over another?
So, maybe I had 7 questions for you. I understand you won’t bother to answer them… because they require thought, not something applied when spouting the Repub talking points.

You Go Paul Broun, Piglosi is way out of control—-she needs to be thrown out on the street, she is a disgrace to this once Great Country !!!!

Short answer is “NO”. Pelosi, Obama, and the rest of that ilk aren’t stupid or ill-informed. The bill is NOT about healthcare. Much like the gun-grabbing bills aren’t really about guns. It is about CONTROL. That goal is a near total surveillence nanny state in which the government, aka Obama, oversees, determines, and controls your life. This is why the census survey is asking so many intrusive questions, why Obama enjoys nationalizing industries, why Obama has expanded anti-civil rights legislation, and why Obamacare with its database and control mechanisms.

Problem is 98% of us have work everyday – SO I SAY – WE pick a date and every red blooded AMERICAN doesnt go to work – hell – shut down the country if we have to for ONE DAY and we all show up and surround the White House – or wherever Obama and Piglosi and Reed are and make sure they know how ANGRY we are OR better yet – we each surround our REPRESENTATIVES – we never asked for a Government that would CONTROL us -we asked for REPRESNTATION – not control – this has to stop because this great country of ours is going down the shitter with the likes of these in power….. HEY I bet our Founding Fathers are rolling over in their graves – while other countries laugh at us – ONLY THIS ADMINISTRATION COULD MAKE THAT HAPPEN

Today I read that this bill will cost another 700thousand jobs,LIKE WE DONT HAVE ENOUGH UNEMPLOYMENT NOW.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Representative, I hope your candor, and your courage inspires Representatives and the Americans they serve, to stand up and declare that this assault on the Constitution, will not continue on their watch. We are a nation of laws, and if the legislation cannot withstand the process, it is because there is a reason. It is because it is the bill that is fundamentally flawed, NOT the Constitution!

Listen up America. Dr. Broun has it right, and we need to stand up like him. No more sitting on your collective asses. Libertas Vel Mortis!

Okay Amy, what are your 7 questions? Why not post them? And I can answer Dr. Broun’s questions…..
1. Yes, some healthcare reform is moral and right. This particular package, along with the methods being used to pass it are neither moral nor right. They are just plain dishonest.
2. Is it constitutional? Probably not. There is nothing in the constitution that says the federal government can mandate the purchase of any service or product.
3. Is it necessary? Yes, some reform is necessary so that those who are truly unfortunate enough to lack access to healthcare can, indeed, obtain such services at a reasonable cost.
4. Is it affordable. No! As it is currently written, it is not affordable and not fiscally responsible. We will clearly be paying taxes for 10 years for 6 years of coverage.
There is nothing in the bill as it’s currently written that will curb costs short of healthcare rationing. It’s that simple.
When our elected leaders admit they haven’t read the bill, admit that they don’t understand those portions they have read, and the speaker says “we have to pass it so we can find out what’s in it”, our governmental “leaders” have clear gone far astray from the founding principles of our country!

Power & Control…this is the only thing Obama, Reid & Pelosi want! They don’t care about us American people! They want this to pass by whichever means possible…What is sad is that Obama is playing Pelosi & Reid like puppets! Obama has already gone around Congress several times when the votes didn’t turn out the way he wanted. Congress is irrelavent to Obama! This scares me and it should you!

Posted by: Jacamina | March 18, 2010, 3:18 pm 3:18 pm

Dear HUH; YES, YES, YES. If they pass this, then we should ALL STOP WORK, GO TO WASHINGTON AND GET THEM OUT OF THERE!!!!!!! Pelosi should be tried for treason. Who is with us??

It makes me sick to see our elected representatives act like dictators.
The anger that you are inciting will not be silent.
We will do everything in our power to vote every one of you out of office.
This is America and we will not tolerate tyranny.

How dare you try to represent the American public with such statements as, ““I have three simple questions Ms Pelosi,” said Rep. Paul Broun, R-Ga. “Are you so arrogant that you think you know what’s best for the American people? Are you so ignorant that you are oblivious to the wishes of the American people? And are you so incompetent that you are going to ignore the Constitution of the United States, use tricks, deceptions, bald faced lies to try to ram down the throat of the American people something that they do not want and is going to be absolutely worse for their healthcare?””
I am not sure whose ear you have but I am appalled at such thinking and feel that we need to consider health care as a national matter where everyone contributes (whether they are healthy or not) to a scheme that reduces the overall spending of healthcare. Personally, I have only seen the cost to become an expense that I, as a senior citizen, can not afford.

If this god-awful bill passes don’t think it is the last of it. There will be more measures added to it in the years to come. They will work in a public option in a year or two and other money costing items that they have taken out just to try and get it passed. The cost the OMB put on it today will not be true by next year as the libs will try to pass more additions to the bill the think will pass this weekend. Bet on it!

Please be advised, this health plan doesn’t go into effect until 2014.
Shortly after IF it’s signed into law, the legislators start putting things back into the plan that were taken out. The Senate and Congress have to force feed this HP with as much as possible
before the 2010 election because they won’t have the votes in 2011. Obama will push hard to get reelected for the period 2012 -2016 to take total control and for the most part rewrite and
remove sections to our Constitution of the United States.
WHAT ! You don’t think so? Well, that’s because you don’t know how to think straight.

Please Dee et al Dems… Take the time to READ the proposed measures. The main stream media is “Propaganda TV”. Please, before you exhibit you lack of literacy on the topic at least read opposing points of view AND the legislation.
I agree that Health Care costs and Insurance costs are exorbitant, but this legislation does NOTHING to address that. Lets try limiting frivolous law suits, open competition for your business from ANY insurance company in the country.
Really, educate yourselves before you spout talking points!

Is this doctor trying to stage a revolution? What an insolence to address the Speaker so disrespectfully! It is fine to disagree, but choose your words correctly when addressing others. it is a sign of civility.

It seems most opponents of the healthcare reform have no legitimate reason but to resort to insults. That is not going to help. So, you might as well pray for some divine intervention because healthcare reform is a done deal
Thank you!

What an insult from a so-called congressman. this man is full of so much hate that he may be attending rallies at night. The Speaker should not stoop to that level or even respond to him. SICK!

Paul is our congressman, speaks the truth, his father was a local/state senator for 30-40 years, Paul speak from the heart and is a GOOD GUY! Go paul, we love you, thanks for giving southerners some pride is their representatives. Please encourage some backbone in Atlanta and suggest the legislature taking a stand.

I’m appalled that Republicans can lie as much as they have- scaring the American public with things like ‘Death Panels’. We need stronger libel laws in this country. People have a right to be scared -when it’s justified. Having some regulation in health care that reduces the deficit, covers 98% of Americans, gives people more choice and consumer protection might scare some people. When it passes there will be less to be afraid of. As the president says sunlight is the best disinfectant.
You have some wackos convinced the world was going to end when Clinton was president and he would take everyone’s guns away. They said people would be taxed into poverty. Well- did it happen? No – what happened was a balanced budget with tax cuts for the middle class (not the rich) and a steady growth in jobs. I’m glad there’s a return to sanity in government.
Your fear mongering is all you have, and when that’s gone what will you do? When the world doesn’t end- will you find something else to get in a tizzy about? My guess is yes- you will. When Obama doesn’t take your guns away and health reform reduces the deficit- as projected, and things actually get better in spite of Republicans kicking and screaming against positive change you will find something else to get all fired up about- a complete non-issue designed to appeal to emotions, especially fear because frankly- you haven’t had any new ideas since the 80′s.
The Republican answer to Democrats have been and continue being personal attacks and fear mongering. Where were these Republican doctors when they were in the majority? Where were their ideas? These people ignore anyone who doesn’t agree with them- Obama and the Democrats wasted a full year appealing to Republicans, listening to them and using their ideas.
The part you call unconstitutional -making everyone have insurance- was a Republican idea. Senator Chuck Grassley. It seems crazy to me that when you use a Republican’s idea he then turns on you and calls that unconstitutional.
I’m glad the President stopped trying to appeal to a party of obstructionists, political opportunists and fear mongers. If he hadn’t listened to Republican Grassley we’d have a better bill.

Wow, some people are getting desperate and personal about this healthcare issue. I think the doctor-congressman needs anger management.

When will a real modern Robespierre step up and lead the people to a massive revulsion of this HC bill? Pelosi doesn’t think she is accountable to anyone. She doesn’t think at all.

Congressman / Dr. Broun, I applaud you. You have courage, something sadly lacking in the GOP of late.
Amy, it is clear your reaction is almost pure emotion; your empty-headed response reminds me of the parade of dimwitted young dem ‘congressmen’ who are ‘announcing’ their votes for the bill today. How can anyone seriously vote for such a pack of ignorant, dishonest, fools? How, Amy?

So many people are watching this, possibly the most significant government encroachment of our lifetime. Why isn’t anyone, anywhere, talking about how this will redefine the relationship between the citizen and the government? If President Obama and his colleagues had substance instead of continually demonizing others to garnish support (oh, did he delay his trip again??), he’d be viewed as less of a weasel, or perhaps a bully. Boy, he really doesn’t like people who disagree with him, does he? Most statists don’t. It’s time all the hip folks out there eat crow and admit they voted in a statist who could care less about America, but is trying to protect his legacy.
Liberty, or Tyranny? I vote for Liberty!
VOTE DEM OUT
