Health Care Reform = Democrats’ ‘Ishtar’

On the Roundtable, Republican political strategist Torie Clarke said recent actions from Democrats on health care reform could find parallels from the 1987 comedy film “Ishtar.”

CLARKE: “Do you guys remember the movie Ishtar?  Warren Beatty, Dustin Hoffman, they spent millions and millions and millions of dollars on it you heard so much about it and when people actually started seeing it they said that this is terrible.  I think the longer it hangs out there the harder it is.  Politically republicans and democrats are looking to say the best thing that could happen to the democrats is to pass this.  They pass this and say oh we got it done after 60 years and then they have to defend it from now until November and I think it will be very tough to defend a lot of things inside that bill.”

Last night the Disney Channel aired a 1937 classic which sums up modern Republicanism-SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS. A fairy tale with a wicked witch and 7 little guys, standing in for the Republican Congress, whose idea for health care reform is a kiss from prince charming.

All this to cover illegial immmigrants, and those who don’t need such coverage, such as young adults and otherwise healthy individuals. Four years of taxes without results… Taxing 100 percent of the people, to cover the last 20 percent. Looting medicare and medicaid which are already bankrupt.
Adding more people into an already broken system, making quality and access that much more difficult. And cutting out not only the American people, but those of the opposition party, let alone independents. And THIS is “progress”, PLEASE!
Even if they pass this, the people will not see results until… the next Presidential election. (WOW, their is a shocker!) Even if this passes, the people will be paying for what they are not getting… for YEARS!!!
The best thing for both parties and the people is to KILL THIS BILL! Listen to the AMERICAN PEOPLE, and don’t penalize 80 percent of the people, to cover the last 20 percent, and ILLEGAL immigrants!!!

That was a hilarious comment! Of course I knew a guy who actually LOVED the movie “Ishtar”. But, then again, he also supported Clinton and was temporarily enamored with Perot, so go figure. I don’t Obama cares, much, about Obamacare. He knows if he can kill the middleclass, keep the borders open, sink the economy, and keep the wars going that soon enough a good portion of the country will be begging for “The One” to initiate a nanny-state socialist dictatorship.

Funny, but I think Pelois looks alot like the wicked witch in Snow White……although Obama does remind me of one of the dwarfs—Doopey.

BBear, I was going to post a criticism of your Snow White post. But I realized it would be wrong to suppress a child’s interest in politics.

The automatic acceptance, at standard insurance rates of pre-existing conditions (in health insurance) or DUI drivers (in auto insurance) or convicted arsonists (for home owners insurance) changes the MAJOR tenet and character of Insurance–RISK SHARING–to simple CLAIMS PAYING.
In other words, we will go from “spreading the risk around,” as insurance companies are designed to do, to simply “spreading/level claims paying around.” The whole purpose of insurance underwriting was to make sure that the anticipated claims + operating cost + profit = premiums charged. Once those anticipated claims have all the pre-exiting medical conditions, DUI drivers and arsonists added into the mix, claims will sky rocket, and so will premiums. Those of us who have tried to be health (or moderately so, not drunken drivers or arsonists will now be forced to underwrite and to pay the increased costs of the ills of those who are.
Kinda’ like the concept of “spreading the wealth around,” except in this case instead of doing it via income taxes, it will be done via insurance (claims) payments.

First of all to iman — Bush did a lot more than 2 trillion in 10 years — he doubled the Size, scope and debt of Govt. in 10 years — He Captained our Economy into an Iceberg– Then left with the Rich People on the Lifeboats as the Titanic Sank— His Tax cuts for the upper 3%, during Two simultaneous Wars for Cheney’s( Haliburtons) Profit, Increased the Deficit to astronomical proportions — That left the Obama Administration with a choice of bail outs or 25% unemployment — Our current health Care system costs twice what almost every industrial Nation pays for Universal Comprehensive coverage –Yet we get a pittance for our dollar— The GOP plan —- The Overpriced Status quo – what we really lack in this bill is a Public Option !!!

The WH is currently villianizing Health Insurers. When will he and the public decide the Auto, Home or Liability Insurers are next?
Just take Home Owner’s insurance for example. Anyone who has a mortgage HAS to have Home Owner’s, if for no other reason to protect their mortgage holder’s interest in case of a fire loss, which would cause a loss of the mortgage holder’s security for their loan. They will not loan you the money without this type of coverage in place.
Personally, I have been paying Home Owner’s premiums for nearly 40 years, and the premium has averaged about $2,250 per year, or $90,000. I’ve never had a loss. OMG, I am outraged, the unfairness of it all, lower my premiums, cut the CEO’s salary and perks, Federal takeover of them, Nationalize all of the carriers.
Where the hell will this nonsense stop? Who decides on the next victim in the WH’s gun sites? No one has a gun to your head to buy health insurance. If you don’t want to pay for it, don’t. However, be prepared to finance the consequences if something major should happen.
No one has a gun to your head to buy Home Owner’s insurance, live in a rental if you really want to avoid it. You HAVE choices.
PS Shouldn’t the WH be forcing the Auto Insurance carriers to issue standard rated policies to a driver who has two DUI’s (it is a pre-existing condition, you know)? This is more of the same nonsense.

Any tax on anything or anyone will always be passed to the consumer. Always has been, always will be. Proposed tax on insurance policies has already caused a 39% rate hike in California That was the figure reported by Sen Feinstein D-California.
President Obama has promised that illegal aliens will not be eligible for subsidized care. He also promised immigration reform (amnesty) this year. That will make 20 million people eligible for medical insurance at the expense of the American taxpayer. The Medicare we paid into all of our working lives is being robbed of $550 million to provide care for people who shouldn’t be here in the first place.
The limit for Medicaid eligibility is being raised to a level that will cover virtually everyone who works for Wal-Mart. You remember Wal-Mart. That’s the company that has come under sharp criticism for not providing medical insurance for the employees. Hillary Clinton was on their Board of Directors before Bill went into the White House. This bill will save them billions of dollars. Hillary was on their board. You don’t suppose …….. ?
And you’re paying for it.

Scary stuff, this Obamacare, another underfunded liability coming for a vote even as one of my advisers informs me that the total of the nation’s unfunded liabilities is now about $105 trillion vs the $60 to $70 trillion I thought it to be.
Compare that to the nation’s net worth of approx $51.5 trillion and you will see why I am upset with Obama and his drive for Obamacare!
No mathematician or economist can predict a recovery from this, and politicians just keep their collective heads in the sand.

A)all repudumbs in SENATE voted for IRAQ war WHICH brought the highest debt ever.
B).The M AND M ( medicare n mediaid ) who pays for them? a republican program…
c) Bush billonaire boys tax cuts who pays for them. We lost 1.8 trillon taxes and all the money is now found in SWISS SUISSE BANK.
SO IF THE REPUDUMS CARE ABOUT OUR DEBT THEY WILL HAVE ESTABLISHED THESE PROGRAMMS!

I think obamacare program can kill the heath insurance company and it will cause more jobless citizen.

If this passes we will be taxed for 3 years before people start seeing most of the benifits of this bill. In the same three years the deficit will have increased by another 2.7 trillion dollars according to the CBO. The current Senate bill has the 40% Cadillac tax still in it, Obama wants to delay this until 2018, long after he is gone. Without this funding the bill will add to the deficit. So by the time this bill is suppose to start providing benifits the USA will be so far in debt Healthcare will have to be rationed.

The man has a check for 400 billions doallars(first installment) that will NOT be cashed if reform dies..The contributors are the insurers/hospitals and pharmeceutioal companies..If reform dies,it will only be the hospitals who will pay and it won’t be pretty

Blah what a joke. Obama is today finger pointing at health insurance companies in his latest spin-move and blaming them for raising premium prices – when in reality he is their biggest friend and wants to send them a captive audience of 30 million new customers. No where in his healthcare bill does it mandate (force by law) private insurance companies to lower the price of premiums by even a single penny. Another smoke and mirrors ploy and empty promise from maybe one of the most greedy selfish scheming divisive Presidents of all time – still ignoring the problem of unemploment -the real reason 10% of our nation is lacking in health insurance plans.

Anyone who supports the Democrat Health Care Bill will be voted out. They need to start over with real Health Care Reform. What they are proposing is not reform but a takeover. I am fed up with the President blaming someone when he can not get his way. He needs to listen and stop with this single focus on Health Care and switch to improving the economy and jobs.
