LL Cool J: Fox News ‘Misrepresenting’ to Promote Sarah Palin

ABC News’ Huma Khan reports: Sarah Palin’s new show for Fox News hasn’t even debuted yet but it’s already stirring up criticism. On Wednesday, rapper and actor LL Cool J slammed the network after they advertised that an interview with him and other celebrities will be featured on Palin’s new show, “Real American Stories,” to air on Thursday. “Fox lifted an old interview I gave in 2008 to someone else & are misrepresenting to the public in order to promote Sarah Palins Show. WOW,” tweeted LL Cool J, whose real name is James Todd Smith. Fox was quick to hit back. "Real American Stories features uplifting tales about overcoming adversity and we believe Mr. Smith's interview fit that criteria,” a Fox News spokesperson told TVNewser. “However, as it appears that Mr. Smith does not want to be associated with a program that could serve as an inspiration to others, we are cutting his interview from the special and wish him the best with his fledgling acting career." Palin’s new series, announced in January, explores inspirational stories about Americans who have overcome adversity. Other famous faces featured in the Fox News ad are country star Toby Keith and former GE chief executive Jack Welch.  Watch the Fox News ad:
UPDATE: A spokesperson for Keith told PopEater the country singer was also caught off-guard.  "Toby was not asked to participate nor has he ever done an interview with Sarah Palin," his publicist Elaine Schock told PopEater. "FOX has never contacted me about this special. We found out about it yesterday."  Keith, like LL Cool J, says his interview was recorded in 2008. UPDATE #2: LL Cool J's spokesperson issued the following statement today: “Contrary to what was reported, LL COOL J was never scheduled to be a guest on 'Real American Stories' with Sarah Palin this week.  The show had planned to use an interview from 2008 that was being repurposed without LL’s permission.  This statement is not a reflection of any feelings LL has toward Fox News or Ms. Palin, whom he has never met, rather a clarification of what we have seen published in the media.”

And ABC is reporting on this, WHY? What? It slams Sarah Palin? OH! Never mind.

Can you blame LL? To be associated with Palin would totally ruin his reputation. We all know Sarah doesn’t “PAL AROUND” with rap guys…

I’m glad that Sarah Palin is being scrutinized. Anyone who would resign as a Governor and then go on a book tour to promote her ego needs to be watched.

wonder if fox is going to include a story on how Barbie went across the border to Canada for healthcare??

Maybe LL Cool thinks someone may pick up on some of his “bad habits” he has had in life. Or is he just “blowing smoke”? He may have wanted to “weed” some things out before they got aired! Just a thought.

“needs to be watched” malka, How do you propose we watch her CIA, KGB, or SS Agents

May this be the beginning of SP and Fox News demise and Waterloo. They are two peas in the same pod.

LL Cool J needs to have an agent pick him up and give him a new boost in his acting career. He deserves better representation. Best wishes LL Cool J.

Gee…Fox News “misrepresenting facts”, meaning lying, to promote Sarah Palin. How is this different from all the other news networks “misrepresenting facts” to promote Obama on the campaign trail and in office?

Posted by: Terrence ODay | March 31, 2010, 3:09 pm 3:09 pm

The first “Real American Story” should be about how a bimbo from Alaska cashes in after a regrettable decision by McCain to elevate an airhead to prominence.

Posted by: Thomas | March 31, 2010, 3:10 pm 3:10 pm

Well, what does this say about Fox News …. like we didn’t already know they are not really fair & balanced …. & how about that sarcastic remark about LL Cool J’s acting career (grow up Fox News).
If it’s a new SP show, on any network, would you not expect the interviews & stories to be new as well.
All I can say is only on Fox News & only with Sarah Palin …… oy vey !
Yay to LL Cool J …. for speaking out !!!!

Name that rapper? Can’t identify with the real you so you change your name? Who’s not living in reality?

Fox New replay, “…we are cutting his interview from the special and wish him the best with his fledgling acting career.” How petty for them to add that jab. If he’s so much of a fedgling then why was he in the program as a success story to begin with?

Posted by: sacyli3 | March 31, 2010, 3:16 pm 3:16 pm

I will not watch Sarah Palin, she’s just trying to make a name and money. Palin doesn’t care about nothing but making some money and flirting with the media.

Posted by: BJ | March 31, 2010, 3:18 pm 3:18 pm

cry baby: seems when people like him don’t like others trying to refer about old stories, they cry about it.

Posted by: nono | March 31, 2010, 3:21 pm 3:21 pm

I wouln’t even give him “fledgling” as an honest evaluation of him compared to Hanks, Willis, Gibson, or Sponge Bob. Are you kidding me? Affirmative Action at best is why he’s around.

Posted by: Mr.D | March 31, 2010, 3:24 pm 3:24 pm

Neither the CIA, the FBI, the KGB need to watch Sarah Palin. Her ego is so large she doesn’t care how she is seen, perceived, quoted — just that she remains in the news. I don’t blame LL Cook J; I would not want to be associated with her either. And the fact that Fox news had to respond with a slight regarding LL’s acting career. Obviously, LL has some principles, since not even to revivie his “fledgling acting career” would he wish to be affiliated with anything bearing the name Sarah Palin. Ten Cheers to LL Cool J!!!

Sarah Palin with a TV show? Wonderful. An hour of her bitter attitude and listening to her say hopie changie and you betcha!

How else is she suppose to pay her legal bills after the liberals were through trashing her because she didn’t agree with thier ideas. And LL cruel J is really a nice piece of work. He fits right in with the liberal trash.

Posted by: 2by4 | March 31, 2010, 4:12 pm 4:12 pm

Fox News and Gov. Palin supporters don’t mind Fox creating a completely false show that steals other people’s work from two years ago.
Palin is a quitter and a lazy person. But Fox News watchers are mindless zombies who deserve the brainwashing they get.
What a brain dead group of conformist Palinista-Fox dittoheads are….

Posted by: tomcj | March 31, 2010, 4:16 pm 4:16 pm

Why does LL Cool J have to be made the bad guy…Sarah Palin does not want to associate herself with some people…so Mr. Cool J should have the same same rights…or are we not in America…all he was saying…was that Ms. Palin did not interview him…so it should not be represented as such…case closed…

Posted by: Nannette | March 31, 2010, 4:18 pm 4:18 pm

It figures Foxnews would do some of their misconstruing to things be in their favor. Good for LLCoolJ for not wanting to be associated with a show like foxnews or Sarah P’s show or allow profiting off of him for Sarah P’s benifit. Go get your money elsewhere.

Posted by: True American | March 31, 2010, 4:18 pm 4:18 pm

ABC is reporting on it because FoxNews response was incredibly catty and petty for a major media network – beyond the pale in immaturity. LL Cool J rightly objected to a stale interview being used, and they made him out to be this negative person and implied that he hadn’t been acting fairly regularly for the past decade or so.
The network’s response was professionally embarrassing.

Posted by: Jrz Wrld | March 31, 2010, 4:23 pm 4:23 pm

Just when I was starting to think maybe LL Cool J (what kind of stupid name is that anyway), had some class (he’s pretty good in NCIS:Los Angeles, he goes and complains about Fox News and Gov. Palin’s show.
No one said she interviewed the people, they just said she was the host of a show that told stories of people coming out of adversity. She’s hosting the show, not doing the interviews.
Similar to what Katie Couric does on her news show when she tells the story of someone doing something, she doesn’t interview them either. But I don’t hear a complaint about that. And there shouldn’t be one.

Posted by: Barbara Tsoupas | March 31, 2010, 4:25 pm 4:25 pm

Fox wants to promote this dingbat Palin for some unknown reason. Do they think they will help her political career? Did they ever hear the expression “You Can’t Fix Stupid”? Her voice alone is enough to sink any chance she has at being a celebrity. She may be good-looking, but that voice could kill a rhinoceros.

Posted by: geecee827 | March 31, 2010, 4:25 pm 4:25 pm

So they want to do an interview show by Palin by running clips of someone else doing the interviews at earlier dates. That is honest journalism for you

Posted by: John | March 31, 2010, 4:31 pm 4:31 pm

“wish him the best with his fledgling acting career.” HEY FOX ever hear of NCIS? LL Cool J is on the new spin off called NCIS LA. Both are great shows and consistantly in the top ten. Can the Same be said for Sara and her show?

Posted by: jenny | March 31, 2010, 4:31 pm 4:31 pm

Good for LL Cool J for objecting to this. Isn’t it a bit weird that FOX isn’t having Palin doing her own interviews, but is just having her introduce and then show old interviews done by someone else?

Posted by: Lydia | March 31, 2010, 4:35 pm 4:35 pm

Dang! I thought I was going to see an actual interview from Sarah and to find out it was old footage is very disappointing I say… Rolling Eyes…
Even Faux will not let her do a real interview live on the air…
The dingbat time is almost up..finally!

This is so funny! “Quitter” Sarah Palin “hosts” a show of RERUN interviews (RERUNS!!!!!) that FAUX News has to DIG UP from their old interview files. HAHAHAHA! Wow! Now that’s a truly original material.
And FAUX News has the presumption to snark about Cool J for stating the TRUTH?
You couldn’t MAKE STUFF like THIS UP! Or, obviously, FAUX NEWS can!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Posted by: mshare | March 31, 2010, 4:38 pm 4:38 pm

Well Fox has no other choice than use old interviews that someone else did, you don’t really think Palin could handle one herself, now do you? She would look to much like the idiot she is.

To paraphrase John McEnroe, You folks who are protesting this “can NOT be serious!”. An entity wants to air a story about you on National T.V. Cool, right? But wait! First, they neglect to inform you directly of their intentions. Then, instead of asking for a fresh interview, they plan on using an old interview from another entity done a couple of years back – all without your consent. Sounds like an invasion of privacy to me, and “Caribou Barbie” and “Fix News” are the offended ones? Give me a break! LLCoolJ is totally in the right!!

Posted by: 1limey1a | March 31, 2010, 4:46 pm 4:46 pm

The sarcastic remark about his fledging acting career only shows that Fox News has no class. As I understand it, LL’s new show is doing great – I know I enjoy it. Of course, we already know that SP has no class. I think the only way we can shut her up is for everyone to ignore her and for the media to stop reporting on her.

Posted by: Joyce Kirwan | March 31, 2010, 4:58 pm 4:58 pm

Intelligent people know what a sham Fox News really is! I agree with LL. Fox is trying to show Palin as an “open minded, positive” person. LOL. He didn’t grant an interview with her, and Fox should NOT fake that he did. Palin is nothing more than a narrow minded, two-faced bigot who spews hate and lies about anyone trying to bring this country to a higher level.

Posted by: jmb | March 31, 2010, 5:03 pm 5:03 pm

Fox News messed up…why not just admit it, instead of stooping to insulting LL? Typical behavior by Fox News….I’m not impressed. Good luck LL, everybody’s career has ups and downs, including the inconsequential Sarah Palins.

Fox News nor Sarah Palin had any right to use LL Cool J’s interview which was done by someone other than Fox or Ms. Palin without his permission. Also, if you read the update it states that Toby Keith was also caught off guard that his name was used and that he was never contacted by either Fox News or Ms. Palin. Both interviews were done in 2008 by third parties. So why didn’t Fox News or Ms. Palin ask to use these men’s interviews to promote her show?

Posted by: quiet | March 31, 2010, 5:14 pm 5:14 pm

You have got to be kidding. Every news agency does it and Fox gets caught and it becomes news for ABC. Hay, what about the eggs thrown at tea party bus or some of the other stuff going on. Oh wait, only makes the people who you back look bad not your competition.
Poor form on Fox for not saying these are reairings of previous interviews and not clearing it with the various people – so shame on them.

Posted by: WileyCoyote | March 31, 2010, 5:14 pm 5:14 pm

Good for LL Cool J. Sarah Palin is a joke! Only an idiot like Sarah Palin could have a show on FOX. She and FOX “News” are both pathetic.

The Fox spokesperson said “…and wish him the best with his fledgling acting career.” I hate to be the first to inform the Fox people and Ms. Palin, but the Cool one could buy Ms. Palin out with his pocket change and seeing as how Ms. Palin seems to be the fledgling looking for some purpose in life enough low comments. Typical Fox and Republican nasty comments – yes mine are nasty, but enough of this Ms. Palin can do no wrong crap.

Posted by: Chap | March 31, 2010, 5:21 pm 5:21 pm

Well this sounds like Fox was playing sleazy here by misrepresenting that these celebrities were going to be intereviewed by Palin. I saw the commercial on Fox the other night (as I flipped through channels) and I was suspicious of LL doing an interview w/ her.

Sarah Palin Present: interviews about otyher people on other shows that she had nothing to do with. That’s like hosting reruns of America’s Funniest Videos.
This is not a new and exciting idea. Probably took all of 5 minutes to think up in the break room.

Posted by: KsDevil | March 31, 2010, 5:26 pm 5:26 pm

Details, details. LL Cool J admits to doing an interview with Fox. Toby Keith says he never did an interview with Palin, but no mention if he did an interview with Fox.
If LL Cool J signed a release for the interview giving Fox permission to use as they wish, they can use; since they are withdrawing that is in question but not resolved.
If Keith did an interview with Fox and signed a release, they can use.
Lots of entertainers consent to these reviews to face-time. Some fail to understand what they are signing or what it means.
It’s no interest to me outside the legal puzzle. I won’t be watching it anyway. That voice of hers…uggg.

Posted by: malcat | March 31, 2010, 5:34 pm 5:34 pm

Of course, even though this story has little to do with Sarah Palin (it’s really about the Fox’s producers of this show), it sure does bring the Palin haters out.

Posted by: Miss Mel | March 31, 2010, 5:35 pm 5:35 pm

Fox did conduct these interviews, and the stories haven’t changed. Fox is not claiming that Sarah Palin conducted the interviews. I see news programs use old interview clips all the time.
Should the producers try to arrange a fresh interview with the people they are featuring? Probably, but without knowing too much about the segments, it’s really hard to judge.

Posted by: Well .... | March 31, 2010, 5:38 pm 5:38 pm

My flabber is gasted after reading these comments…I just don’t get why people would so vehemently reject a show about how people have overcome adversity, turned their lives around and become successful…after all isn’t that the story of our president’s life?

Get a life ABC, you will have plenty of chances to try and slam Palin as you continue to lose more and more viewers.

Fox News nor Sarah Palin had any right to use LL Cool J’s interview which was done by someone other than Fox or Ms. Palin without his permission.
Posted by: quiet |
But the interview was conducted by Fox news in 2008 — even Mr. Cool J acknowledges that. Fox owns the right to the interview, they can use it however they want, just like any other news agency. They never claimed that Sarah Palin was conducting a new interview.

Posted by: Well .... | March 31, 2010, 5:42 pm 5:42 pm

Shhhh …no bad criticisms for Sara P. She is smart, INTELLIGENT, knowledgable … above all she can even figure out what the politician (like Putin) are thinking when their plane flies over Alaska. We need her for our next President.
Pls, all nay sayers HUSH….

Posted by: MC_H | March 31, 2010, 5:42 pm 5:42 pm

I especially like FoxNews’ classy response back to LL. Regardless what LL said, you’d think a professional media outlet(or so they call themselves) would show a little more class than to demean him in their response. Just another example of FoxNews being the ugly mangy guy in the basement of media news. They appeal to a certain demographic, I’ll give them that. Thank GOD I’m not part of the demo and never will be.

Posted by: Debbie Gomez | March 31, 2010, 5:43 pm 5:43 pm

Small reality check: if FoxNews chooses to re-release interviews from the past for which they own the perpetual rights, that is their legal right. What would have been appropriate would have been to at least notify the individuals ahead of any press releases or ads. That’s called courtesy. Making the nasty little dig about LL Cool J’s “fledgling” career was simply petty. Yes, he’s new to the acting industry, relatively. We have no idea if or how he will develop in this new craft. He may turn out to be great, he may be a total wash-out. Doesn’t matter. FoxNews’ management showed a lack of courtesy and class, both before and after. Am I surprised? No… they hired Sarah Palin, a failed candidate for national office, as a political analyst?!

Posted by: realitycheck | March 31, 2010, 5:45 pm 5:45 pm

I agree that Fox’s comment about LL’s fledgling acting career was classless, but come on, he was pretty classless himself going to the media with this story.

Posted by: Grumpy ol'dad | March 31, 2010, 5:48 pm 5:48 pm

Fox needs to be called out every time they do something like this. If he had wanted to do an interview he would have. As usual they have to create a story around their hype. With all of Sarah’s recent bad press, her affiliation with the tea party’s image of racial hatred, they had to find an uplifting story about a black person. Fox has been caught showing footage of rallies that didn’t go with the stories they were reporting, misleading the public and and using persuasive language and manufactured outrage. For nothing more than to distort the news to fit their agenda. If she does as good a job on her tv show as she has campaigning for McCain, we won’t be seeing her around much longer.

Posted by: Bea | March 31, 2010, 5:50 pm 5:50 pm

Bea, Mr. J DID do an interview with Fox, they planned to use clips from an old interview they conducted with him — happens all the time. Fox did not create this controversy. Mr. J did.

Posted by: clown man | March 31, 2010, 5:51 pm 5:51 pm

Think about Sarah’s interviews during the presidential campaign of course Caribou Barbie is going to use someone elses to bolster her fledgling TV career.

Posted by: Roberta | March 31, 2010, 5:53 pm 5:53 pm

I dont blame LL Cool J. Fox News did not use him for the reasons of inspiring others. He was used falsely hoping to give Sarah Palin high ratings. Fox News and Sarah Palin are both scheming liars. Why should LL Cool J support them especially after Sarah Palin called black people Spooks! that was found in an article

Posted by: claudia | March 31, 2010, 5:56 pm 5:56 pm

As usual ABC “news” trying to create drama anywhere they can. How bout some real reporting? Did Fox say that the show was about Sarah Palin giving interviews? Did LL Cool J sign a release with Fox saying they could use the interview however they liked? Did Toby Keith? Oh I’m sorry that doesn’t fall into the lines of your new tabloid style of reporting. No facts, just anything to trash a competitor. Maybe that is why Fox actually has better ratings than ABC.

Posted by: rylin25 | March 31, 2010, 5:56 pm 5:56 pm

“And ABC is reporting on this, WHY? What? It slams Sarah Palin? OH! Never mind.”
So, if Rachel Maddow had pulled out a 2008 interview that Sean Hannity had done with someone else, and promoted it on her show as being a new interview with her, you’d be fine with that? Please, you’d be foaming at the mouth. Stop trying to play that everyone, including the “liberal” media is demonizing right-wing personalities. Try being honest and forthright, and criticisms would stop.

Posted by: je40 | March 31, 2010, 5:57 pm 5:57 pm

I never interpreted the promo to mean that she was herself interviewing any of these people only that they were featured stories. As the creator the stories belong to Fox just like any other news organization that pulls old footage to use however they see fit. This is just divisive, now only those who agree with LL are allowed to hear his life story. The same is true for other musicians who believe that listening to their music if it comes from a certain source amounts to an endorsement. Funny I didn’t see them asking if my money was red or blue when I paid for it but you can damn sure bet I won’t pay a dime in the future to anyone who holds such bigoted views when creating for the ‘public.’

Posted by: Ferrari5858 | March 31, 2010, 6:00 pm 6:00 pm

Hey Mr. D (and I already know what the “D” stands for)…..LL’s acting career has been in play for quite some time now. Now, you may not like action flicks, or rapping, etc., and that’s all good. But to call his acting career young or inexperienced (the definition of fledgling for those of you that don’t know, including the blonde bimbo on Fox and Friends who can’t seem to function without Google) is pretty much an attempt at a slam by Fox after having egg on their face for promoting something that doesn’t even have a true direction yet. And if you can’t handle one news organization busting the chops of another when they make a mistake (or in this case, clearly choosing to misrepresent facts by displaying a 2 year old interview) then you need to get off the blogs and message boards buddy. Here’s an idea, go back to Foxnews.com. I’m sure you’ll agree with everything you read. Oh, and have fun at your Tea Party/Sarah Palin Money Train tour event. I’m sure you already have reserved seats for when it comes to your town. God Bless the ignorant and their desire to throw money at people who see Russian from Alaska.

Wow? Mr. D. says “affirmative action” is why LL is around? He’s been working since age 15. Just because you don’t know him doesn’t mean he’s not relevant. Bible spice just came into the public eye last year. She quit the job she was elected to do in less than 2 years to cash in. LL Cool J is on a top 10 show. He’s been in countless major movie releases. What has Bible Spice done aside from support her unemployed husband with jobs she’s unqualified for until she quits and drop babies for others to raise. Why couldn’t Fox schedule real interviews for her instead of buying ones from 2008. Even Toby Keith doesn’t want to be associated.

Sarah-PLAYLESS..is pandering like she often does..how dare she use someone public interview without asking or inform the person..its call respect Sarah-payless. I can only imagine what this circus of show will entail, after all it’s Sarah-Payless.. she loves to exploit and promote stereotypes.. what program on FOX news cable do they not exploit or stereotyped.. if she wants an american success story.. just look to the tea parties who live in trailors..I’m sure she could find some success stories there.. let’s face it.. who wants to be associated with sarah-playless?.. no one BUT covert racist individuals..

Posted by: Gatekeeper | March 31, 2010, 6:21 pm 6:21 pm

You can blame this on the “liberals,” or an ABC, but the reality is either Sarah, or her managers, were lying to the public in order to make her sound better than she is. As for her legal bills et. al., they are there because of her ethics problems, not because the libs are out to get her. The problem is, there are some people in this world who wouldn’t know cow manure if it smacked them in the face. They would blame it on the liberals or someone else, when the truth is, they were sitting under a cows butt.

I continue to be baffled by this discussion. If just one under privileged youth living in a world of crime, drugs, and poverty is inspired by LL’s story and makes up his/her mind to forsake all of that and commit to a vision of a good, clean, and successful life wouldn’t he (LL) feel good and be proud that his story made a positive difference for some one…I sure would…why don’t you all see it that way?

Twisting and spinning reality is what FOX does. This is nothing new. They are the WWE of News. Nothing is real.

LL Cool J is TRULY cool. The old interview was another Fox News scam of faux news. Palin NEEDS to be trashed! She is such an annoying and petulant poseur. A perfect poster girl for a petulant political party.

Posted by: rakko | March 31, 2010, 6:39 pm 6:39 pm

Keep it in perspective folks. This is LL Cool J who also, several years ago, went to the media with his grudge about Oprah not paying enough attention to him when he was on her show with other actors to promote a movie. This is a man who famously pits media outlets against one another to promote only himself.
He has also famously admitted that his own mother does not listen to his music.

Posted by: melissa | March 31, 2010, 6:41 pm 6:41 pm

Would he have the same objections if the story were being shown somewhere else? Does he object everytime TMZ or some other media outlet releases old footage and plays it in a promo, which if he is as famous as some say I would bet it has been done on many occasions? If so then he has a leg to stand on, if not his actions speak for themselves.

Posted by: Ferrari5858 | March 31, 2010, 6:41 pm 6:41 pm

LL Un-Kool. Just blowing “smoke.” What else is new?
If Fox isn’t “fair & balanced,” then why are they the number one rated show of its type on the air? Ey?

What is going on with the media these days. When I was younger I loved to watch ABC and CBS news. But because of all this hatefest against Sarah Palin I can’t take it anymore.Liberal media is on a mission to destroy this nation as well as Sarah Palin. And this LL Cool character,by being a cry baby about appearing on Palin’s show,is nothing more than a liberal lacky that does not want to tick off his liberal audiance.
Liberal cry babies is all you people are.May God protect Sarah Palin and her mission to help bring some commonsense back to the american society.

After seeing Sarah Palin’s targets (actual gun sights) on my state’s Congresswoman Gabrielle Gifford (District 8), in Tucson, AZ – - “SARAH PALIN – have you NO decency??????!!!!?????? You are becoming the Timothy McVeigh of Alaska!!!!!! If any one of our ELECTED officials are physically hurt because of your callous disregard for human life and the sanctity of our DEMOCRATIC GOVERNMENT – May GOD not have mercy on your evil soul!!!! Does anyone really view ABC News as a valid source anymore? Im no Republican but it seems ABC feels very threatened by Palin. This is about as ridiculous as it comes. Id rather ABC just report “facts”, not opinion. The American people are smart enough to decide what they believe. I dont think ABC needs to persuade or force an opinion.

Posted by: Daniel | March 31, 2010, 7:11 pm 7:11 pm

I think Sarah should have Rush Limbaugh on her show. They are both created equal. Neither one of them is right in the head.

Too bad Palin didn’t opt to do a live interview. Although, had she done so, she would have quit 2 1/2 minutes into a 4 minute interview.
Oh yes, I went there. When the going gets tough, quit! er… wait…

This is very upsetting to not only Toby Keith and LL Cool J, but to several other celebrities as well. Who the hell does Fox News think they are using OLD interview footage to promote Palin’s show? Then when confronted about it they totally DISRESPECT the celebs!
I have never been a fan of Palin OR Fox News, nor will I EVER BE! I hope this show flops, and flops HUGE. In fact if I were LL Cool J or Toby Keith, I would sue for everything Fox is worth!

I expected someone who went to college and studied journalism would be able to do a live interview. I understand how you might need a ghost writer to publish a book about your life if you have trouble with grammar. But talking to someone in a cozy setting seems like it would be pretty easy. Sarah should decry the educational system that let her down.

Yes, how dare Fox News use video clips that they own the legal rights for, from willingly given interviews, to point to these celebritys as inspiring individuals?! Every media-loving American should be horrified. No one should be called “inspiring” without their permission, even if they had previously consented to and given the interview. The gaul! The horror! you are right, these old interviews should not be used to say these celebrities are inspiring.

Interesting reactions here.
Facts:
1. LL Cool J never said he didn’t want his story used. He just pointed out that he had never been interviewed by Sarah Palin. Fox decided to pull his interview. We don’t even know whether he asked for it to be pulled.
2. Sarah never said she interviewed LL Cool J. Fox implied she did.
Focus on the facts. If you don’t like Fox’s implications,( that Sarah Palin interviewed LL Cool J) then comment on that. This is not about Sarah, although I would not vote for her. This is not about LL Cool J; I don’t watch his show, NCIS LA.

I don’t understand what the fuss is about. LL doesn’t want them to use an old interview and have it taken out of context. Why is he the bad person? If it’s a new show and FOX is saying that Palin will be doing fresh interviews… why are they using old interviews? FOX is a major company. They could easily ask a country music or movie star to speak to Palin.

To promote Sarah’s show they had to pull out old interviews and pretend Sarah was interviewing them (in order to attract an audience). Funny how folks as diverse as LL Cool J and Toby Keith called them out on this. The fact is that no one with a brain wants to be associated with Ms. Palin, so they had to use old interviews to attract an audience. The only people that would be on her show would be tea-partiers – and they don’t do well on TV because of their constant drooling.

Posted by: brentus | April 1, 2010, 4:27 am 4:27 am

So we have two more incidents in which Fox purposely creates misleading information. The first two times were when Fox was ‘covering’ a current Tea Party event but used video footage from a different and larger Tea Party event to create the impression that the current event they were covering was larger than it was. I can buy their “oops” excuse once but not twice in a row.
And now we have Fox promoting two old interviews with two celebrities that are being “repurposed” on Sarah Palin’s new show; the inference is that Palin did the interviews or was somehow associated with the original interviews when in fact, she had nothing to do with either one.
So four episodes of Fox deliberately manipulating information and creating false impressions. And these are only the ones we know about. How many more times has Fox done this? Considering that Fox is Rupert Murdoch’s baby, and he is the king of scandal rags and tabloid news, I’d say there’ve been a lot of these distortions and misrepresentations on the part of Fox

Posted by: windrider | April 1, 2010, 5:45 am 5:45 am

I guess I can’t really blame FAUX network for attempting to haul out 2 year old interviews and then pretend they had anything to do with Airhead Sarah.
I mean, who’s actually going to sit down and do an interview with her??
But I’m sure if anybody actually did, Airhead wouldn’t ask anybody else any of those unfair, really hard questions like Katie Couric asked her. (Like, “What newspapers do you read?”)

Posted by: JaylahPriest | April 1, 2010, 5:49 am 5:49 am

It was quite childish for Fox to call LL’s acting career “fledgling”. Seriously? No one should be surprised though. Fledgling or not, it’s not professional in the slightest.

Posted by: SurfOBX | April 1, 2010, 6:02 am 6:02 am

I can’t say I blame him. He doesn’t want his name associated with her. Palin is the Icon of a group of people working to pull this country down with her scare tactics, and whacked out politics. She is someone who scares the Hell out of me, when I think people would actually want to put her in the White House, with access to the “Button”.

Posted by: parma hts gary | April 1, 2010, 6:55 am 6:55 am

Amazing how everyone starts taking jabs at LL and Sarah Palin when the real fault lies with Fox. If they are going to do a show where Sarah interviews people for inspirational stories then shouldn’t they have people lined up for her to actually interview? If not then at least contact the people who have given interviews in the past for permission to re-air their interview while making it look like Sarah Palin is the interviewer. A little common sense and courtesy goes a long way.

Hmmmm…Fox News using footage from one thing and passing it off as part of another to sensationalize the second??? Posted by: RRMorgan | April 1, 2010, 8:11 am 8:11 am

I wish this story would note how big a screw up this was. Palin said herself that he was a guest on the show in the promo. The fact that they were going to use a two year old clip in the show without permission shows that either she is a liar or clueless. Same old Palin…

How come fox doesn’t cover the story that Scott Brown is soliciting money falsly saying he needs it to run against Rachel Maddow who is not running, informed his office she is not running and ran a full page ad that she is not running. Not to much said about the “Vouyour” incident also. Reps. like to keep things like that under cover and a false statement about Colin Powell and the “don’t ask don’t tell” law. They said years back he did not support it when that was not true. Many things left out on Fox. Like the fact that the Governor of Virginia is refusing to allow married gay couples to receive assistance if their partner is ill or he is not allowing gays to have certain jobs in his state. Teaching is one. Many things going on her that is not talked about on Fox.

Posted by: talmag | April 1, 2010, 10:43 am 10:43 am

Tamag,
It never ceases to amaze me how people like you can take a kernel of truth and turn it into a full-blown lie.
Scott Brown never said Rachel Maddow is running for his seat (you’d know that if you read his solicitation piece). What he said was true: “and before I’ve even settled into my new job, the political machine in Massachusetts is looking for someone to run against me. And you’re not going to believe who they are supposedly trying to recruit — liberal MSNBC anchor Rachel Maddow.”
That is completely true. There is a group of residents trying to recruit Rachel Maddow, and although she has not agreed to run, there is nothing untrue in Brown saying that a group hopes to recruit her to run.
He doesn’t say he needs money to fight against Rachel maddow. He says he needs “continued support” because “the political season never ends.”
IF you read what he sent out, you’d see he did not lie — not once in that mailing. Did he overreact to this group trying to recruit Rachel maddow? I don’t know, maybe, but he didn’t lie. But then again, Rachel Maddow overreacted as well, didn’t she?
The problem with politics today is that people are just unable to think beyond what they are told by their favorite on air personalities. They become blinded by partisanship, unable to use critical thinking skills or to take it upon themselves to investigate and discover exactly what the truth might be.
Every story you hear – whether it comes from the left or the right – has another side to it. Only when we listen to both sides can we come to a rational conclusion.

As if Sarah Palin needs LL Cool J to make her show successful. Lol, is this a joke? CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, and headline news combined dont have their audience. LL is the man I love him and always will, but he needs to man up and forget about all of the liberal Hollywood types and just be what he has always been, and that’s REAL.

Posted by: Torin | April 1, 2010, 2:48 pm 2:48 pm

@Peace Warrior ,
Actually, LL Cool J did give his permission back in 2008 when the interview was done. The interview is owned by FOX. They can use it when ever and on what ever show they want to use it on.
I don’t believe LL Cool J is disputing that. I think he was just surprised it was going to be used on this Ms. Palin’s show and wanted the public to know Ms. Palin did not interview him and that the interview was old.
The FOX organization decided to remove his segment from the show.
To be fair, we don’t at this point have any evidence that Ms. Palin picked the segments to be on the show she is hosting. In other words, it is not her show: it is FOX’s show; she’s only the host, not the producer, etc.
While I do not support Ms. Palin, I don’t believe in piling on and ascribing actions to her which she may not have committed. She can do enough on her own.

She is a phoney air head used in the Republican propaganda machine to help them insult your itelligence. Do you e even care about the truth? What the hell kind of personality defect do you have that makes you dig your heels in no matter what to try to believe Fox News is reputable in even a small way? There is no way and you know it that any of the other news shows, any does what Fox does. You freakin know it.

Posted by: Donna Hess | April 5, 2010, 6:51 pm 6:51 pm

Got to love how ignorant people are putting their political views in on this.
Having seen the original advertisement, it is never said that Palin interviewed the subjects, but rather she profiled them (lol?). At the same time, it can be misinterpreted that she sat interviewed these three. It would have been better for Fox to have clarified this in the original commercial.
LL Cool J most likely was confronted by somebody that had seen it who had the impression that he had been interviewed by Sarah Palin. Also, he was never contacted that he would be the subject of such a story (which is something that is typically done as a courtesy). This Fox definitely dropped the ball on.
Having no knowledge of his image being used to promote a political figure (which is exactly what this is, let’s not pretend it isn’t. We’ve all seen how according to the elections that there’s apparently a “real” America… as opposed to a “fake” America?), LL Cool J has every right to be upset.
Fox then responds with a childish press statement where they take a jab at LL Cool J’s acting career. Fledgling? Let’s take a look at his body of work:
Not exactly fledgling by the looks of it.
They then put words in LL Cool J’s mouth by saying he does not want to be part of a show to inspire people to overcome adversity. LL Cool J did not say he didn’t want to be part of the show. He simply said that Fox misrepresented the situation, which they did.
Bottom Line: Fox News is in the wrong. Political garbage aside, they could have avoided all of this with a simple phone call to LL Cool J to begin with.

Posted by: Josh | April 6, 2010, 12:55 pm 12:55 pm

In my opinion, some of the posters on here are incapable of giving a legitimate responses to the subject at hand, which is LL Cool J’s (and any other American)right to permissibly be represented in a manner that is consistent with his belief’s, whether professional, personal, or political.
The “weed” comment, the comment about his stage name, the comment about aff action and all the other little extra jabs like “fledgling career”-thank goodness for the REAL news reporters who do their jobs in an manner unbiased on CNN-have absolutely no validity here.
On a more personal note, SP lost my attention and respect and never gained a chance to bend my ear once I knew her under-aged teen daughter was pregnant and that her new baby had Down Syndrome. Yes, these situations happen, but as a parent, it’s a crucial time to be upfront and present for your family for support, guidance and nurturing, not globe trotting to hammer out a “viral” political career.
