As European and a healthcare worker, I’m amazed at the ill informed commentary posted here. The US spends multiples per capita on healthcare than European countries do. Private healthcare in the US is expensive, inefficient and produces poorer health outcomes for its subscribers (check OECD and WHO statistics). On top of that, there are legions of uninsured citizens who face the daily worry of meeting outrageous healthcare costs should they fall ill.
No country has a perfect Healthcare system and yes healthcare can be bottomless pit when it comes to spending. However, if you look at countries where the funding model is based on universal insurance contributions a fairer more equitable system pertains. I
Indeed my own country, Ireland, had gone down the road of private sector healthcare and this has been recognized as a mistake in terms of both equality of access and cost. There is general agreement here that a type of universal healthcare is required to meet the populations’ health needs.
US citizen need to stop listening to HMO backed lobbyists. They have a vested interest in the cash-cow that is the status quo. Not to mention the tax breaks these providers get.

Obama is as illiterate on theology as he is economics. The departed don’t look down on us in fact with his abortion stance Teddy probably wouldn’t be up anywhere!
IT’S THE DEBT STUPID !
Obama is hoodwinking the public by talking deficit reduction as opposed to addressing the REAL CRISIS, the NATIONAL DEBT ! Deficit reduction is like you merely charging less on your credit card, WHILE YOU ARE STILL CHARGING !
So, with Obama is it TRANSPARENCY OR DESPOTISM ? I have already made up my mind!
The debt is already climbing beyond the twice raised ceiling, the OBAMA/PELOSI/REID trident are forecast to double it in five years and triple it in ten. Unfunded liabilities of the government now exceed $105 trillion while the net woth of the nation’s assets are but $51.5 trillion. So where’s the HOPE in this CHANGEY ???

Just goes to show how shallow and unintelligent this president is, as if any more evidence of it was needed. We can not afford this health bill. People, every single penny the government overspends make your dollars and savings worth less – it is stealing from you, your children and grand children. They say Social Security is broke – did you know that government has stolen 2.5 trillion dollars from the Social Security trust fund? When will we demand fiscal sanity of our lawmakers? Many members of Congress are little better than traitors.

What an act of desperation! What else is Obama going to do? I can’t imagine how much more of our tax dollars are going to buy votes to destroy this economy. Maybe Obama should listen to himself sometimes…
“And more importantly, he was a believer in building consensus, in forging compromise, in the idea that the only way that we can accomplish the work of the American people is to work together.”
Problem with that statement is other than lip service Obama has not compromised at all. His health summit was nothing but political theater since he through he could fool the American people who were looking for transparency. Democrats have been working on health care since his January state of the union when he claimed JOBS was his #1 priority and the only time anything was on TV was the summit in which Paul Ryan is still waiting for an answer to all the problems he saw in the bill.
This thing is a disaster!

I thought that immigrants came to America because they didn’t want to be like Europe, but now, all of a sudden, we want to be like them again? Are we so insecure in our own freedoms, that we are willing to give them up because we want to be like someone else? If they want to give up their freedom so they can have security through their government, go for it, but when I charge a hill fighting for my country, I’m going to yell, FREEDOM, not HEALTHCARE. The price for universal healthcare is too high, and I’m not just referring to dollars. When you give up your freedoms, it is not very easy to get them back. That’s why Europeans came over here in the first place.

O’bama is certainly Irish in one major respect: The use of blarney which your local dictionary defines as “deceptive or misleading talk; nonsense; hooey” I suppose next time around, he’ll use the campaign slogan “Blarney you can believe in.” As for Ted Kennedy and O’bama’s health-care reduction plan, good old Ted didn’t have to worry one way or the other. He, like O’bama and the current group of clowns in Washington, had their own coverage well above anything planned for the common folk.

I am more concerned about what the living people from Ted Kennedy’s district think. Oh wait, they voted against Obamacare. Obama disrespects the constitutional idea of representation when he invokes the memory of a dead man in order to stifle the voice of the people he represented.

Even when he is dead Ted Kennedy and haters still raise the issue of Mary Jo and “A Bridge too far.”
It’s as if thats all their small brains can handle.Let it go..

OH, sure, let it go. No big deal, right? So what if a young woman is left ALIVE in an underwater car…abandoned by the drunk that drove the car into the water.
I mean he’s a KENNEDY! Why should anyone care that a KENNEDY just swam away, went home, slept it off, and had breakfast.
I wonder how long it took for her to die…waiting…hoping…pleading for help.
