Sarah Palin to Pen Second Book Celebrating ‘American Virtues and Strengths’
ABC News’ Huma Khan reports: The ink has barely dried on Sarah Palin’s first memoir, “Going Rogue,” but the former Alaska governor has already inked a second book deal with publisher HarperCollins. Palin’s currently untitled second book will be “a celebration of American virtues and strengths,” HarperCollins said today in a statement. The publisher did not disclose the dollar amount on the deal. The former GOP vice presidential candidate’s first book sold 2.2 million copies and spent six weeks at the No. 1 spot on the New York Times bestseller list. Her second book, HarperCollins said, will include selections from classic and contemporary readings that have inspired Palin, and portraits of people she admires. “Palin will reflect on the key values — both national and spiritual — that have been such a profound part of her life and which continue to inform her vision of the future,” the publisher said. “She will also draw from her personal experience to amplify these timely (and timeless) themes.” Palin may have retired from her position as Alaska’s governor but she’s hardly left the spotlight. From the tea party convention to book signings, Palin has drawn large crowds, fueling speculation that she’s considering a run for the White House in 2012. Palin is also reportedly in talks with Mark Burnett, creator of reality TV series Survivor, for a “planet-Earth-type” docudrama on her home state of Alaska, according to Entertainment Weekly. EW’s Lynette Rice cited multiple sources as saying that the former Alaska governor is meeting with various network executives to pitch the show. Palin was hired as a Fox News commentator earlier this year and in her appearances on the cable channel, she has taken on both the Obama administration and lawmakers on issues ranging from health care to the economy. Both HarperCollins and Fox are owned by Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation. In Los Angeles this week, Palin stopped by Jay Leno’s “Tonight Show” Tuesday and poked fun at Washington and even herself. The former governor’s daughter, Bristol, who had a son with the now infamous Levi Johnston, will appear as herself in ABC’s “The Secret Life of the American Teenager.”

Palin is another William (Bill) Bennett, who we know was also addicted to gambling, and other issues. Will these Republicans ever learn that they are transparent (see through). Republicans are all the same, and Palin is not a different animal than all of her Republican peers.

Well, for me it boils down to Sarah Palin’s ideas that we are at the End of Days and Second Coming will occur in her lifetime. Just google her speeches before a Pentecostal church where she paints the Iraq war as acting out the will of the Lord.
So if you happen to also support these beliefs, it’s a freedom we have here in America.
But keep this woman our of national Middle East politics directed by her view of Old Testament prophesies unfolding in the real world.

I don’t think it so much fear as incredulity that so many buy into her misguided concept of what Christianity is and her dominionist philosophy. My veiwpoint is very different than green.goddess, but her comment does confirm my premise on Palin.
Actually, Republicans should be the ones who fear Palin politically. Her running as a third party candidate is virtually the only way that Obama can be reelected.

catman: She spreads the truth and ya all can’t stand it? LOL
No. Here’s what I can’t stand. She and others of her ilk are supposedly epitomy of a good Christian? Well, ask yourself this then…what would Jesus do? Let’s see..if you believe the new testament…Jesus HEALED THE SICK and FED THE POOR. He threw the money changers out of the temple because he abhorred greed. Yet all you right wing “christians” are more concerned that someone is going to take something out of your pocket than doing what is right. Hypocrites…one and all.

Repub John McCain doesn’t even know how many houses he has and wants to scrap healthcare reform. How’s that for rich and not giving a crap about others?
And just because the emergency room lets you in doesn’t mean you can pay the bill. And if you don’t your credit ruined. Not slight on muslims, I used christian as an example because we were talking about PALIN and she seems to think she is a fine example.

What country do you live in? The sick ARE NOT always healed. I am not being fed anything by the left. I live it. I have a chronically ill child and cannot get affordable healthcare. We are buried in debt from ER visits and I will never be able to get credit as a result. I have very mild asthma…pre-existing condition…so I too can not get affordable insurance and I have a good job. Get real.

bjb…thats health insurance reform which i support, rather than heal care reform, there should be no pre existing conditions etc.that could have been solved last year as both parties agree on that issue but the left is not concerned about about passing what the majority of americans want. they want to take over health care and ul;timately cover illegals. next will be to grant ammnesty using reconciliation to pick up 20 million new voters. get real and good luck as the plan wont even kick in for number of years but the taxes will happen now.how lame.

What you fail to recognize is that we overwhemingly CHOSE Obama at the polls and REJECTED Palin. Unfortunately, she didn’t get the memo and she is still holding court at the expense of her state (which she chucked) and her family. If she had accepted this loss & tried to be the best governer and parent she could be instead of this constant posing for the media I would have a lot more respect for her. I think we all would.

American Values? Christian Values? Let’s see….for Sarah that means, do as I say, not as I do, because according to her actions:
Instead of turning the other cheek, from the Christian value, and
Instead of an eye for an eye and
Instead of vengenence is mine, saith the Lord,
Sarah instead practices, “I will gouge out both your eyes if I even fantasize that someone is gunning for my eye…in other words the story that she tells herself, which is often false.
Sarah gets pregnant and then gets married. Her daughter gets pregnant and pretends engagement to be married for politics then ends it after the politics are done. Sarah preaches abstinence before marriage when neither she nor her children practice what they preach. I personally don’t care if a person is abstinent or not, that is their personal business, but I do take offense at someone not walking their talk.
So basically, Sarah’s book will be filled with copied text from other books, and she will then provide commentary their thoughts…not really an authorship is it?

What is wrong with you liberal obamabots? You call Palin every horrible name you can think of and even accuse her of spreading HATE? Do you just pretend to believe this or are all just willfully stupid?
When Palin said on the campaign trail “our opponent is someone who thinks so little of America that he pals around with terrorists” she was exactly right- obama’s first political “meet and greet” was held in ayers’ living room.
If you liberals educated yourselves at all on the slums of chicago’s political system, you would know that the “pay to play system” controls the city.
Obama’s dirty list of friends- Tony Rezko, Bill Ayers, Rev Racist, Rashid Khalidi, Louie Farrakhan, blago- are somehow excused by you people or you just simply refuse to even acknowledge them.

Your praise of Palin is so ludicrous it’s hard to know where to start but for the sake of brevity I will comment on one…using your down syndrome baby for a prop is not “raising” in my humble opinion as a parent. Book tours, Fox news, press conferences to tell us all what offended her on any given day (inflammatory and childish) does not allow much time for child-rearing. What did she do with the 100 grand she pocketed for her lame Tea Party speech that she said was going back to the cause ? catman | Mar 4, 2010 3:39:40 PM posted “she tells the truth.”
No catman, she does not “tell the truth”.
Instead, according to Steve Schmidt, McCain’s top campaign strategist, Palin has “trouble with the truth”. It became a serious campaign problem because “There were numerous instances that she said things that were not accurate”.
For example: The ethics report looking into whether she had improperly used her position as Governor of Alaska. She claimed the report completely exonerated her. Schmidt said it was “provably, demonstrably untrue.”
Or the story about rejecting money for the Bridge to Nowhere. Or that Todd was not an Alaska separatist.
She is frighteningly dishonest, selling the idea of fresh political wholesomeness. Sorry catman, the majority of voters saw her just as she really is: another dishonest politician interested in self gain.

For someone who once generated a national hysteria by claiming socialized medicine would bring about government-run “death panels” that would kill the elderly and children with mental defects, Sarah Palin seems remarkably calm, what with her grandson now facing the very same allegedly tyrannical construct, that is.
Yes, that’s right: Sarah Palin, Alaska’s former governor and a millionaire thanks to sales of her book, has a grandson whose health care is paid for by the federal government, according to newly released court documents.
The revelation was made in court documents filed Feb. 16, relating to the child support battle between Bristol Palin and Levi Jonson, available here [PDF link] courtesy of E! Online.***************Sarah Palin is against “government healthcare” but her grandson is on it! Look it up!

This is the remaining of the story of Sarah Palin grandson on what the republican party calls it “ENTITLEMENTS” **************** Tripp is an enrolled member of Curyung Tribal Council within the Bristol Bay Native Association consortium. Because the majority of Tripp’s health care costs are already covered by IHS and the Alaska Native Medical Center, Mr. Johnston has no need to purchase additional health insurance and his deduction should not be allowed.”
Because Tripp’s grandfather Todd is descendant from the Yup’ik Eskimo, his children and grandchildren are registered with the Curyung Tribal Council, part of the Bristol Bay Native Association, and thus eligible for government-run health insurance through the Indian Health Service. All “lineal descendants” of Native enrollees are eligible for the program.
The health services are provided by law as a requirement of the Indian Health Care Improvement Act (IHCIA), passed in 1976. The Indian Health Service is overseen by the federal Department of Health and Human Services. Reauthorization of the IHCIA had stalled during President Bush’s terms and the group has lobbied President Obama to work with them on reforming the legislation and ensuring its reauthorization.

catman | Mar 4, 2010 4:25:37 PM posted: “when will you hold your own politicians to your same standards?”
I did not imply that Sarah Palin has the corner on factual malpractice. I’m very realistic about all politicians.
For example, Republican Senator Lamar Alexander recently claimed premiums will go up for “millions” under the Senate bill and president’s plan. Not true. And, President Obama said families buying the same coverage they have now would pay much less. Also not true.
Both comments were misleading. The evolving form of health care legislation has been complex. So I use Fact Check to help better understand the issues and research for myself outside the talk-show echo chamber.
The CBO said Senator Alexander was wrong because premiums for those in the Group market wouldn’t change significantly. But Obama was also wrong because the average premium for people who buy their own coverage would go up. Not everyone will get everything they want in Health Care reform – we’ll need to look at the overall value for our nation.
But to claim Sarah Palin tells the truth? Now that is frighteningly dishonest.

One other thing I want to add. Tonight on the news there is a developing story on the RNC (Republican National Committee) that all of you who blog on ABC articles should pay attention to. To paraphrase the story, there is documented proof through a brochure that shows the strategy of the Republican Party today. The first item is about “spreading fear”. Now I have blogged alot on these sites and have often said that it is the “Voter Mentality” that is the problem as much as anything in the divisiveness and ignorance in poitics today. And then I read these blogs on a “spokesperson of the Republican Party(Palin) who does just that in her rhetoric (spread fear and conspiracy theories ), never has a solution to anything of substance and then see how you all argue “subjectively” about her. Over “things” that do not matter or have anything to do with her “credibility as it relates to politics or leadership. Wake up people! Get better educated! YOU/We, the voters, are the problem.

She better “rely on her own experiences” because she doesn’t know much about anyone else’s experiences!
To understand the Sarah Palin phenomenon, watch an old Peter Sellers movie called “Being There”, for which he was nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award.
It shows how a backward, ignorant man-child can become a celebrity by saying the right things at the right time.

catman…no argument there. Not prying but I am curious. If you employ people, why would you not be in favor a health care reform bill? I am employed by what I would consider a smaller employer and I see how they struggle ANNUALLY against rate increases or the lengthy scenario of seeking out a new provider. I have also watched the benefit side of it for the employees dwindle, yet their “pay in” increase dispropotionately. You seem to me to be a reasonable person. Does that not bother you? A heads up. As my posting handle indicates I have a lot of practical experience with the Canadian system. I am under no illusion with our population size that we could do exactly what they do, but a “modified form” would seem to me to be the ticket. Also I am for the public option simply because I do not trust the people in the corporate world or ‘free enterprise system to police themselves. I also know it would raise my taxes but I am Ok with that. Incidentally I also in a “prior life” was an HR person and hired a lot of hard working, honest blue collaar types – and I feel bad for how corporate American has thrown them “under the bus”. Again, just curious.

cnd fox…we pay all of our employees heal;th care. i am for insurance reform to take care pre existing conditions etc etc. i dont like this bill because it taxes us to pay for those who are not insured when i am already paying for all my employees. in addtion i have never seen the governmrnt efficiently run anything and i fear with great experience that the situation will be worsened with the govt involved and overall quality will go down. i believe that with the choice of paying a percentage of gross income as a fine for not having insurance will lead to evryone opting for that route since its cheaper than people are currently paying. that will cause care to be rationed because enough money cannot be generated to pay for health coverage overall as people move away from more expensive plans. i fear employers will do this in droves, and ipso facto you end up with only a public option. i beleive the free market approach, albeit with flaws, leads to technological innovation due to the profit/ greed motive. those innovations in medicine is what extends our lives.socializing medicine, in my opinion, takes that innovation away.i also beleive that illegals will benfit from our system,as they do now, without paying which leads to increased illegal immigration which we cannot handle. i believe the better approach would be to grant welfare if you will to those who cant pay and let them buy insurance and to create jobs to allow peole to purchase insurance. make the fundemntal changes to insurance we all want as that wont cost us anything. i could go on forever but i grew up poor and fought my way to the top and i will help people if they cant help themselves. have a nice evening

IndependentJoe posted “There you go again, dems rolling eyes. Where does that fear of Palin come from?”
From your imagination, of course.

catman…thanks for responding. It appears our main diference in thinking is that you have people you have people you feel responsible for> i just have me and my wife. We too, fought our way up to our level also but I have seen a “modified form of capitalism” work in my wife’s home country and truly believe it could work here too. From what I am seeing happen today and tonight, I think we will find out soon. As I have posted before. I expect my taxes to rise but I am OK with that. We should not have 40 million uninsured in this country, with out of controlrising premiums.

Why do you Reps think the rest of us are “afraid” of or fear Palin?? We think she’s a joke! Apparently, she’s now shopping networks for her reality show!! This is no leader — she’s a money-grubbing celebrity wannabe. A legend in her own mind!! My only question — will she quit half way through the show’s season?!

Great post! All of the Bots will come
out in force to burn Palin’s effigy
while their feckless, whiny leader
begs America to let Him win one for
the (Marxist) GIPPER. Sarah can take
the negative flack. Barry can’t….
and his adorers KNOW it!

Jake apparently you didn’t read this article very well. The reality show that she’s trying to pitch is a docudrama on her home state of Alaska. It’s not about Palin or the Palin family.

DisgustedVeteran That “backwoods simpleton” has fought her way up from an average middle class daughter of a science teacher and a school lunchroom worker to being the governor of a state to a number one best seller author and a millionaire and soon to be a multi-millionaire. She worked and paid for her college education herself with a little help from a few beauty pageant scholarships. Her parents were too poor to pay for her education. Even though she attended several different colleges, she earned degrees in journalism and political science from the University of Idaho. She might not be a Harvard law professor like president Obama but she’s no simpleton! You are just another one who can’t see beyond the smile and the winks and the friendly down-home country personality and see the intelligent woman that Sarah Palin really is!

Really can any of you Sarah Palin people honestly say that she has any sense? Of course it’s easy to see all you have to do is wait till she opens her mouth and all doubts shouold be extinguished. All of this talk about her being in the public eye and her quik wit and will she or won’t she run for the president of the United States? The problems facing Obama right now are not all of his fault. Yes he promised change and many other things .But I hope that all can see that the republicans have tried their damnest to undermined everything he has tried to do. So let’s get to it. If the folks that are so mesmerized by Palin are the same ones that voted for jr.. not once but two times. Can you believe it? Two times they voted for that loser and the thing that scares me is that they might vote Palin in. OMG talking about trouble! I wouldn’t trust this women on a three wheeler, Let alone this country. Please don’t get me wrong I see nothing wrong with a women as president of the union. Just not this one. Please please america don’t be fooled by the promise that you and her might believe. Pleaes remember the nightmare of Bush jr. and keep her out of the White house. PLEASE!!!!!!!

Here is another reason why you should join the Movement to FIRE WASHINGTON, NO MORE CAREER POLITICIANS to be elected ever again. Lets take back Washington and get rid of all the DEMOCRAT and REPUBLICIAN INCUMBENTS. This is our chance to take back America from the POWER BASE IN WASHINGTON.

darkfall Yes, we did vote for George W. Bush twice and proudly too! I’m not at all ashamed of it! I’m proud to be a Republican! Yes, I do honestly say that Sarah Palin has sense! That is a fact that you and all liberals like you refuse to see. You simply dismiss her because she’s different than anyone you’ve ever known and she’s not a Harvard graduate. Therefore, you think she’s not bright. You refuse to actually look at her record and her accomplishments. The only thing you want to see are her mistakes and the negative things about her. You refuse to see the positive and the good she has done for the people of Alaska.

GeorgieBushie Obviously you’ve never read her book! It’s no children’s book!

Is really funny to read how the Sarah Palin haters storm soon after any news come out about Sarah Palin. See, she is winning at all fronts and the more you haters “hater her” she wins.
You demonized her when you bought in the idea and the propaganda to made a caricature out of her while you all bought into the same propaganda to believe Obama was the “Second Coming” and the “Savior of the World” with not imperfections, you even omitted to scrutinized him or sent the legions of the press and staffers to know more about the new Messiah. The fact is that we already know everything about Palin and if that is the worst we got on her. You go girl! We still need to know about Obama and his shady friends here in Chicago.
Keep hating Sarah at the end reason will prevail and she is in the right side of the equation. She is like Bill Clinton, the most their enemies trying to destroy them the stronger and successful they will come!

The fact that the Right Wing WingNuts actually bought this failed Beauty Queens Boot (Actually written by someone else) shows you all how delusional they are.. Meanwhile here you have Palin brown nosing every left leaning TV Producer trying to land a TV reality TV Show! Wake UP MORONS! She’s all about the Fame and the Glitz! She’d become a democrate in a blink of a Hollywood Movie Producer if he offdered here a Movie Role!

She’s only about the Fame and Fortune just like any other Materialistic Beauty Bimbo…

I can’t wait for it. GO SARAH in 2012

Do you people making all of these crazed statements about Sarah Palin understand how those statements make you look to other Americans? Do you not realize that you are making her into the same type teflon politician that Ronald Reagan was? Personal attacks might make you feel better about yourself but they make for very poor, even self defeating political narratives. Reagan and Clinton are both perfect examples of how politicians use the small mindedness and hate of their enemies to sell themselves. Now you can add Sarah Palin to the same list. She is using you, she is outsmarting you, and when she becomes president she will destroy the liberal infrastructure you have been building for the past 70 years. To that, I say THANK YOU – KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.

How can Sarah write a book when she doesn’t have the intellect of a fifth grader. My son knows who the founding fathers are, and that Africa isn’t a country! You betcha!
Posted by: JOEY FALCONE | March 6, 2010, 6:20 pm 6:20 pm
Ah.. another book of fiction…writing about her stand-up career?
Posted by: Bea | March 6, 2010, 8:00 pm 8:00 pm
JOEY FALCONE How do you know that your son knows who the founding fathers were? Have you ever asked him? Can he name all of the signers of the Declaration of Independence? I doubt it! Very few fifth graders do! If he can’t name all of the signers of the Declaration of Independence then he doesn’t know the founding fathers! And another thing, just to remind you, Obama once said that there are 57 states in the union too!
