From Sunlen Miller
President Obama will sign the health insurance reform bill into law in the East Room late this morning.
In the audience will be members of Congress from the House and Senate that supported health care reform and people from the anecdotes the president has told about health care reform over the year.
Following the signing, the president gives a speech on the health reform bill at the Department of the Interior.
In the afternoon, Mr. Obama will meet with Sen. Kerry, D-Mass., and Sen. Lugar, R-Ind., on the negotiations with Congress, and with Russia, on the START treaty. Kerry is the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and Lugar is the ranking member
In the evening, the president will meet behind closed doors with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the Oval Office.
“Our goal in any of this is to create an atmosphere of trust and open dialogue to bring these two sides together so that the discussions can be substantive in moving towards comprehensive Middle Eastern peace,” White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said previewing the meeting. ”I think that's what we hope tomorrow is, in his discussions with the prime minister, and we'll see what comes out of that.”
