This morning as we prepared to board Air Force Two for a flight to Durham, NC, I asked Vice President Biden if he’s going to spend some of the day on the phone lobbying wavering Democratic members of Congress to support health care reform.
“When I’m not with you,” the vice president joked, motioning towards the plane. “I’m gonna be in that cabin” making phone calls.
“I feel optimistic about it, I really do,” the vice president continued. “We got a great number back from the Congressional Budget Office.”
CBO “scores how much it’s gonna cost and indicates we’re gonna save billions of dollars over the next 10 years, over a trillion in the next ten. That’s great news and I think that frees up a lot of guys who were going, ‘I don’t know, I don’t know if this is really gonna be saving.’”
“All those Blue Dogs,” I said, referring to the conservative Democrats of the Blue Dog coalition.
“All those Blue Dogs,” the veep said. “So I feel good.”
