From Sunlen Miller:
This morning, President Obama will make a statement on the first quarter 2010 GDP numbers in the Rose Garden.
Joining him for his remarks will be representatives and workers from two U.S. manufacturers: Itron, a Washington state-based manufacturer of smart energy meters, and A123 Systems, a Massachusetts-based advanced battery manufacturer.
The White House says both "are expanding production and hiring as a result of Recovery Act investments in innovation and technology."
Later, Mr. Obama will travel to the James J. Rowley Training Center in Beltsville, Md., the secret service's training center.
The president is expected to receive a tour, observe the Secret Service's training procedures and watch personnel taking part in demonstration activities.
"He'll also have the opportunity to thank some of the men and women who have worked so hard and made so many sacrifices to protect him and his family," the White House says of the private visit.
