We are living in interesting times.
It's fascinating.
I can't wait until 10 years from now to see how things play out.
______________________________
One of the things that we must do though is get beyond all the bickering and the labeling (and the loyalty that goes with it) and start paying attention to how we are living as individuals then holding people in office starting in our own communities up to the same standard. When that happens everything else will work out as we participate and get involved where we can.
The other part is simply the realization that there is no magic to return us to the past. The height of the market was an illusion and didn't represent true wealth and so comparing no to then is ridiculous and helps to diminish hope to people who don't think for themselves and so misery and depression is self fulfilling as they absorb the negative reporting.
Even saying there are no jobs over and over and over when i travel the country seeing postings and opening for jobs. Half of the people are not looking because people keep saying there are no jobs. You might not be able to do what you want but there are job openings.
People have stop living in the past and prepare for today's (and tomorrow's) reality.
The old jobs and narrow background to get today's will not cut it for the higher paying jobs, if those jobs are what you want you need to cross train but no one is advising the college grads that, now they are even told that there schooling is worthless. That ridiculous. You just need to rethink the way you approach the market.
I really didn't mean to go on this far and I have to go to work for which I am blessed to have and I am not by any means talking down to those not working.
My point is that all this negativity is not helping them to THINK and the rhetoric should be to counsel them on the need to think outside of the box, further cross train, and to determine how they can take what they learned and use it in a way to help people so that if they can't find a job maybe they can even make a little money and grow a business and provide jobs one day instead of looking for a job.
The current rhetoric does not encourage them to persevere it actually diminishes their hope and outlook on the future and that is hurting recovery more than the actually state of the economy.
Another self fulfilling prophecy.
I don't know, I just know that I am sure all of us will continue to ramble around until we wake up and get it in gear.
i am optimistic that at the end of the day you and me both will make better decisions and things will evolve until they get on track.
I don't worry, I just do what I can to prepare and give my advice as to my perspective and people can use what they feel comfortable using from it and do what they want with the rest, lol.
Anyway everyone have a good day. Bye
bye the way if any of you here are interested in a job trucking, learn more about becoming a truck driver at
Yes the trucking industry is hiring! lol
always. But remember, it is not for everyone, that's why we exist.

cleaning up diesel exhaust is essential.

That does sound like a good idea. The smoke may be black but diesel exhaust polutes less than gasoline exhaust and is more fuel efficient. Check it out.

One more thing, we need to require testing for truck emissions, just as we do with cars. Since testing was required for cars in my state, I hardly ever see an obviously over-polluting car. But are there ever a lot of 'dirty' trucks out there, belching extra pollution compared to other trucks. Identifying those trucks to tune them or fix them would help clear the air of the worst kind of pollution for our lungs. And far right people, don't give me that it would hurt business to force owners to fix their trucks. Responsible companies that spend the money to fix their fleet should not be at an economic disadvantage for doing the right thing for everyone's health. Why should the irresponsible owner make a bigger profit and/or be able to charge less for his product while he is hurting the public's health? (Besides, fixing a truck is a tax write-off, like any other legit business expense.)
Did you know that the fine particles in diesel exhaust contain 40 different chemicals, many of them known to be cancer-causing? They are not only linked to higher cancer rates but they also make any lung problem a lot worse, especially asthma. If we are serious about lessening disease in our country, cleaning up diesel exhaust is essential.

Hurrah! It is wonderful to have a forward thinking White House. Of course we should be putting mpg limits on trucks as well as tougher limits on cars. Besides lowering pollution, saving the consumer lots of money on their gas bill over the life of the vehicle, we must remember that oil is a finite resource, thus we shouldn't use up more than we have to, if we care about future generations.
Wheresmymoney, how does the stock market going down redistribute wealth? Stock prices going down is simply wealth lost, no one gets it. Think about it.

Did you actually read beyond the Drudge headline?
Posted by: Ryan C

Yes, I do. And apparently it's a good thing. Unemployment as a whole, the measure of unemployment in the US, ROSE in April. Not only did it rise, but it did so as the ubama admin was expecting/forecasting it to fall.
Few things are certain but you can count on one. When someone starts parsing statistics or polls they are downplaying something.

Yeah, these are the same economists who didn't see the recession coming in the first place.

"As early as 2006, top advisers to Mr. Bush dismissed warnings from people inside and outside the White House that housing prices were inflated and that a foreclosure crisis was looming. And when the economy deteriorated, Mr. Bush and his team misdiagnosed the reasons and scope of the downturn; as recently as February, for example, Mr. Bush was still calling it a “rough patch.”
"The result was a series of piecemeal policy prescriptions that lagged behind the escalating crisis.
“There is no question we did not recognize the severity of the problems,” said Al Hubbard, Mr. Bush’s former chief economics adviser . . . "

"Nevertheless, economists still expect slow but steady economic growth in the months to come."
Yeah, these are the same economists who didn't see the recession coming in the first place. Meanwhile, mass layoffs continue (including states running out of money), the unemployment rate is rising (over 26 million unemployed/underemployed), chronic long-term unemployment is at record levels (over 7 million have been unemployed longer than 27 weeks), bankruptcies are climbing, foreclosures are skyrocketing (Obama's foreclosure program is an epic failure), 25% of homeowners with mortgages are under water, 40 million are on foodstamps, banks are failing every week at a faster rate than 2009, debt as a percentage of GDP is over 90%, HALF of the federal budget is BORROWED, 10% of the GDP is DEBT, and Social Security/Medicare obligations top $108 TRILLION. But maybe these are just all lagging indicators. Obama said the recession was over months ago. Hope and Change is coming. Really. Just ask Greece. They're enjoying it right now.

"He is saving us fuel by letting the economy rot-see the latest job data?"
BusiWeek: "Economists believe that the number of Americans filing claims for unemployment benefits fell for a fifth consecutive week."
And
"Unemployment rates fell in a majority of states last month as improved economic conditions spurred hiring.
The Labor Department said Friday that 34 states and the District of Columbia reported their jobless rates fell in April. Six states reported higher rates, while 10 saw unemployment hold steady."
"Seen the latest Leading Economic Indicators report?"
Did you actually read beyond the Drudge headline?
Oh wait who am I kidding...
"The Conference Board reported Thursday the Leading Economic Index fell 0.1 percent in April, the first drop in a year, after a 1.3 percent gain in March and a 0.4 rise in February. Nevertheless, economists still expect slow but steady economic growth in the months to come."

"This President will not rest until the stock market is 2000. Redistribution of wealth."
And here I thought the shelf life had expired on this talking point.
Oh well it will disappear in a month.
