Tierra, why is it that because we believe Obama's politics are bankrupting this country and, even worse, altering it's social fabric, it is automatically assumed that we are Bush supporters? Or even republican for that matter? It is a fallacy of argument for you to assert that because we oppose Obama, then we must be Bush supporters and, therefore, our claims about his policies are invalid. Could it not be possible that both are true? That Bush AND Obama are both terrible presidents?
Obama is not the anti-Bush. In fact, look at some of his recent efforts to support off-shore oil drilling, and defending "too big to fail" banks by ardently opposing the Audit the Fed bill. Sounds a little like our dear friend W to me! So much for his promises of protecting the environment and the consumer!! Haha! And let's not even mention the fact that he accepted the Nobel Peace Prize the day after he commits 1000's of more troops to the middle east.
But what do we know, right? We're just deluded individuals who still believe in that antiquated little paper called the constitution, and that the rights of the few outweigh the desires of the many. But I guess that's just the ramblings of of one crazy libertarian who is, as Obama so eloquently phrased it, simply "clutching to his gun and bible".

Progress isn't creating a system in which the people are dependant on provisions from a large, powerful central government. I mean, wasn't that why we formed this country to begin with?

Not really, it was a problem dealing with 'no taxation without representation'.
It most certainly wasn't a problem with the British government having put together a health care system to benefit most Americans.

This healthcare bill isn't "progressive", in fact most of the agendas these so-called "Progressives" (and liberals, democrats, and even many republicans) support are anything but progressive. Progress isn't creating a system in which the people are dependant on provisions from a large, powerful central government. I mean, wasn't that why we formed this country to begin with? To escape the tyrannies of such all-powerful systems of government?
Obama, intentionally or otherwise, is pushing this country further and further toward it's eventual demise.
And, on a side note, I noticed that many people like to use the word democracy and republic interchangably. There is a major difference between the two, and to think the two are the same is a grave mistake. We the people need to start understanding that this country is not intended to be a democracy. In fact, the constitution was written as such to prevent our eventual parlay into a system of democracy.
If you think this country is a DEMOCRACY, please do yourself a favor and search YouTube for 'The American Form of Government'. Then, after watching it, ask yourself if you still believe in Obama's politics.

And yet its the end of the world as we know it, yes? Ask good ole Quo.
And it wasn't my generation who got us there.
But, hey, *you* have every right to be ridiculously inconsistent and hypocritical. IOKIYR, Its actually expected. (and there's no need to live up on to your own standards on how quickly you judge, either, lol)

I wouldn't be so quick to judge. If it wasn't for structure, order, micromanagement, mega this and mega that, you wouldn't enjoy half of the things you now enjoy. Those disciplines got us to the moon and back, gave us all sorts of electronic advantages, microwave technology, the list goes on and on. You are able to make many of your daily choices because people were structured and disciplined in their research and development.
