Sec. Naptolitano: BP Execs Will Meet with her in Washington Today
That’s what she told me this morning on ‘GMA’ saying that she wanted to make sure “there is a clear claims process for those who are impacted that we have a system set up for prompt reimbursement.”
She added that BP would be responsible for costs incurred by Federal, State and Local governments throughout the Gulf oil spill clean-up.
Napolitano also addressed the news that BP was asking locals effected by the oil and clean-up crews to sign a waiver lessening BP’s liability and limiting the amount of money they can seek from the oil giant. “I was just alerted to that and if that in fact is the case that is a practice we want stopped immediately.”
BP’s Chief Executive Tony Hayward assured me on ‘GMA’ that such agreements are no more, “that was an early misstep…we were using standard contracts, we’ve eliminated that.”
But still, Hayward refused to take any blame for the spill itself. “The drilling rig was a Trans Ocean drilling rig; it was their equipment that failed it was their systems and processes that were running it. We are responsible for the oil and cleaning it up.”

Rick Santorum's Full Speech at CPAC 2012
Why is DHS involved in this instead of doing what they can to control our borders and preventing terrorist activities? Oil spill is a “Homeland Security” issue?

The unmitigated gall of BP
Welcome to the world of BP. As a former manager, all of this brings up the garbage that plagues this company and it all resides from London. When are we going to wake up in this country that companies like this do not have yours and mine best interest at heart? What is their interest? The oil and that is it. They could care less about the environment, the people, the Gulf Coast; they are interested in the oil and our Federal Government is not stopping it. These people who are the executives in this company suffer from mental illness where they act like sociopaths rather than somewhat caring company officials. I can only hope this bankrupts the company they are the worst of the worst in the oil business.

One more thing:
Do they not understand the principles of property occupier? Do they not understand THEY are guilty of gross negligence? There should be criminal charges waged. Why not because they are too big to fail? Because they are a partner?

Wow, Angelgroove. I can understand (I think) your anger at the company and it’s executives.
But to wish bankruptcy on a company with a payroll the size of BP shows a disgusting lack of concern for all the decent, hard-working employees who could even lose their job and retirement.

Sorry but BP does not deserve a pass on this one.
While I agree there are quality workers that has nothing to do with the executives. If I still worked there I would be protesting. Yes I am angry. My resume has 10 years of BP and Arco on it. It is now been despoiled. It is hard enough to work in today’s economy only to have something on my resume that is not my fault at the hands of people who only care for London’s bottom line. Yes I am very angry. Good news I am an attorney now and my words have respect.
I lost my job thanks to corporate London and their business strategies.
There is no truth to BP retirement. It is all 401K and they do not lose that. What pension are you referring to maybe the pension of Tony Hayward and his London cronies.

On April 27, 2003, eight years ago the Bouchard Barge B-120 hit an obstacle in Buzzards Bay, creating a 12-foot rupture in its hull and discharging an estimated 100,000 gallons of No. 6 oil. The oil is known to have affected an estimated 90 miles of shoreline, numerous bird species, and recreational use of the bay, such as shell fishing and boating.
We need to review the George Stephanopoulos interview the other day in which the Coast Guard Rear Admiral Mary E. Landry told George there was no leak! Where did the Rear Admiral get this faulty information and who does are government think they are dealing with? Everyday we see the news we see the US Coast Guard defending themselves ! What is their relationship with these oil companies ? The taxpayers pay their bills !
Our advice to the Gulf people : Don’t Take Any Wooden Nickles and document everything !

any excuse for Obama and his appointees to go after businesses and executives will be cherished. This takes precedence over the terrorist bombing in NYC, illegals killing peace officers in Arizona, the ongoing war(s), the wide open border. Notice also how now that the latest NYC bomber has been identified as a Muslim Pakistani that the press releases and focus is far less than when the administration initially was signaling/hinting it was a white guy.
Don’t get me wrong. Go after BP for damages but I doubt BP did this on purpose! Unlike the terrorists, illegals, drug runners, and criminals who have a free-for-all in the USA.

Ed, you sound like you dislike Obama worse than I do. Of course this takes precedent over the ATTEMPTED bombing in NYC. The public was protected, the terrorist is in custody, giving information to officials that has resulted in the capture of 4 coconspirators in Pakistan. IT’S OVER. Job well done, but hopefully lessons learned about letting terrorists on planes.
Obama against business? Give me a break and look at where his top advisors came from. That’s right, Wall St.
As far as the borders, I’m with you, but you should recognize GWB did the same. You might find this VERY interesting:
We deserve some answers from both parties on the utter failure of this program.

Tom, I agree with you. Bush was bad. In fact much of the anti-civil rights programs, wars, and pro-banker policies that Obama is expanding were started under Bush. Likewise Bush liked illegals, albeit for different reasons: (Bush liked the cheap labor and the “safety valve” so Mexico won’t totally destabilize. Obama likes illegals because he wants to destroy borders, the working/middleclass, and “typical white people” for moral purposes and for the future voters.) So both Parties, at the national level, like illegals and this is a reason nothing has been done.
Ps: Obama is pro-business but really not business; but FINANCE. That is why Obama hates small businesses, credit unions, smaller local banks, energy companies, etc. He likes banker business not businesses that actual product a product or provide a legit service.
