From Sunlen Miller:
President
Obama this morning will have a series of closed door meeting, including a
reception for the Federal Judge Association, and a briefing call with the Gulf
Coast Governors on the BP oil spill.
Later
in the afternoon Mr. Obama will have a bilateral meet with Prime Minister Saad
Hariri of Lebanon, his first visit to Washington, DC during his premiership.
“The
President looks forward to consulting with Prime Minister Hariri on a broad
range of mutual goals in support of Lebanon’s sovereignty and independence, and
regional peace and security,” the White House says.
During
White House press secretary Robert Gibbs’ daily briefing today he will be
joined by United States Coast Guard Commandant Admiral Thad Allen, as the
administration is facing increased critic for not being aggressive enough in
dealing with the Gulf Coast oil spill and BP.
In
the afternoon Mr. Obama will attend a reception
in celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month in
the East Room.
The
president will then meet privately with Secretary of Defense Gates in the Oval
Office.
