ABC News Exclusive: US to Name a “Super Enforcer” of Iran Sanctions Tomorrow

ABC News' Kirit Radia reports: On Wednesday the Obama administration will name veteran nuclear weapons expert Bob Einhorn as its top official to enforce sanctions on Iran, the same day it expects the UN Security Council to pass the toughest round yet of punitive measures against Tehran, a US official tells ABC News.. According to the official, Einhorn will be the “super enforcer” for sanctions, though it’s unclear exactly what his title will be. Einhorn is currently the Special Advisor for Nonproliferation and Arms Control at the State Department. Since the 1970′s he has held a wide range of arms control and nonproliferation positions throughout the government. On Wednesday morning the Security Council is scheduled to vote on the fourth round of sanctions against Iran. The measure is expected to pass, despite opposition from non-veto members Lebanon, Brazil, and Turkey.

Hopefully he’ll kick more a$$ than Obama has. But more than likely he’ll send some mean letters. Be afraid, very afraid.

“According to the official, Einhorn will be the “super enforcer” for sanctions, though it’s unclear exactly what his title will be.”
In keeping with the presidential mood, let’s give him the title, Deputy Ass Kicker in charge of Iranian sanctions. I assume this position would report directly to the Ass Kicker in Chief.

I thought as Secretary of State, that Mrs. Clinton would fill the role of “super enforcer.”
At any rate, I’m sure Iran is trembling at this uber tough foreign policy decision.

This sounds like another do-nothing government job. Who is he going to enforce the sanctions against? Iran? Russia? China? Good luck with that, let me know how that turns out.
When the sanctions fail once again, what’s the next step? More sanctions. I can hardly wait.

Pardon the skepticism, but I can hear it now: “We will hold a Nuclear Iran responsible, with, um, really strong words that will, uh, hold them responsible!”

“When the sanctions fail once again, what’s the next step?”
When Iran gets the nukes, the next step will be to use diplomacy to limit the number of nukes they can have. The next step will be negotiating the amount of U.S. foreign aid to Iran.

..and if this doesn’t work, we are going to call in the “super-dee-duper” enforcer.. (holy cow-we are sunk.)

If there is some kind of armed conflict with Iran I’m certain the right-wing talk-tough keyboard soldiers will not be the ones volunteering to go and actually fight it….just like Iraq.

Wasn’t it President Bush who let the North Koreans test their first nuclear weapon on his watch?
And we’re supposed to believe the Republicans are somehow ‘tougher’.
I don’t think so.

The only two I can think of that could be qualified would be,
1 – Jack Bauer
2 – Blue Bonnet Man

I’m sorry, the idea that Mr. Obama will not even call Mr. Hayward to work out a joint response… It is just crazy…
He has declared the BP is responsible… Mr. Hayward has accepted responsibility (something Mr. Obama has never done).. and pledged to spend whatever it takes to make it right…
BP is dealing with the leak, but struggling with organizing a Gulf-wide multi-state response to oil washing ashore… Why won’t Mr. Obama call Mr. Hayward and workout a joint response? He apparnetly has a problem dealing straight up, man-to-man with people actually qualified to hold their office….

“Why won’t Mr. Obama call Mr. Hayward and workout a joint response?”
Because he would be unable to demonize BP and the oil industry in the end plus his support on the left would evaporate. Obama and the left view BP as an enemy to their agenda.

Ahhh, the old North Korea nuclear test during the Bush years. Please go back and see pictures of Albright toasting champagne with Kim Jong Il and let me know how that sunshine diplomacy worked out for all of us.
And when and how do you think they developed said nuclear weapons? I’m sure they started everything the day Bush was inaugurated, right?

The North Koreans tested their first nuclear weapon in October of 2006 on Bush’s watch.
Bush had been in power for close to six years at that point – that makes almost six years of preparation on Bush’s watch as well as their first nuclear weapon explosion.
