Cornyn: BP’s Response ‘Lousy’/President needs to step up
BP’s PR campaign hasn’t convinced Senators Kerry and Cornyn. This morning on This Week Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) told me BP’s response has been “lousy…they are the ones that started this problem.” Cornyn didn’t let the Administration off the hook either. “I think a lot of the confusion has been because no one has really known who’s in charge…we need the President to step up and assert himself.”
Senator Kerry said the President did just that. “From day one, from the first moment, from within hours of this happeneing, President Obama was notified. The next day he held the principals meeting in the White House. He’s been down there three times. Every major person in the Administraiton has been there…they have been racing to try to make up for BP’s mistakes and for the absence here of a sufficient level of emergency.”

Santorum: Money Will Not Defeat Obama, Ideas Will
Rick Santorum's Full Speech at CPAC 2012
Can’t someone control Liz Cheney on the This Week program. She tries to control
the discussion and is extremely impolite. Please do not have her on again. I do not enjoy her overtalking everyone.

I agree with Joyce. She isn’t interested in discussion or analysis. She is just interested in pushing her political agenda.

what does Cornyn want the president to do ? pitch a tizzy cornyn is a joke along with Cheney and George will . I hear Jake Tapper is being replaced this fall on this week show with Amanpour she will do a much better job and John Cornyn will crawl back under his republican rock when the president puts BP ass Up the grill and makes them accountable for the disaster it will be done and that’s what America is waiting to see happen.. it will be a first for any administration in such a bad mechanical failure of a set of valves . transparency is going to happen . and big business is going to take a major hit
president Obamas administration will do what is right . so get off his butt and help fix the problem no more finger pointing lets get together and clean this mess up . BP will be held accountable .

Is Joe Biden still stumbling around say it’s as bad as “he’s suspected for years”? Something he failed to mention once while Obama was fast tracking this very location for this very rig.

As a self described Republican born and raised in a cotton field who happens to ‘ despise ‘ Southern Dems and Bluenose anythings, I find the current crop of Repubs to be repulsive and ignorant of average human intelligence. I believe they are on the way to causing the extinction of their and my party in its current form.
And to speak the truth, I think that may be exactly what needs to happen. Passing the buck and pointing fingers without constructive negotiation does not a good politician make.

I too am so Sick of these PHONEYS! How long has Cornyn been in the Senate! At least 30 years….Your policies Sir created this MESS. Now I guess you idiots want a government bailout/cleanup of a “private” company right! A Big Oil company that is a Foreign company, comes to our shores and dump millions of gallons of oil on it, and the Idiots blames President Obama, yet some of these “old crows” has been around making the policies that created this Mess for DECADES. I want to throw up! They backed the OILMEN that ran this country for 8 years, and expect this Presidnet to go to the bottom of the sea and clean up this Mess TOO! President Obama continue to keep the “boot heel on this company’s neck” and hit it where it hurts. I bet Cornyn and his “cronies” is cowarding in rooms trying to get their bonuses from BP, and TRADED their Stock fast. These idiots do Not even mention the 11 men who lost their life…selfish, political games that America is Sick of.

The president can not step up, he does not know how. This is his fault, this is his administration’s fault, and they are the criminals in all of this. In short, the president needs to step down.

Obama is the worst president in US history, he does not know how to lead. Our country is being destroyed, by disasters, by unemployment, by thirteen trillion dollar deficit, etc. And he and his administration is doing nothing.

Angelo, I find your comments unfair. For the first time this man has to deal without the benefits of affirmative action;he is trying his best. What you see is what you get.And quiet flows the oil…

Good old Oilbama. Politely engaging dear BP in conversation. As if BP cares!!
BP gambled by taking shortcuts that killed 11 people and will ruin coastlines and fisheries and fishing and tourism jobs for decades.
BP is criminal. Obama, you have to throw out your rule book, use some leadership, and take charge!
Obama, don’t invite BP for tea and crumpets. Throw BP managers and their CEO in the slammer! Worry about consequences later. Nationalize BP, take it over in America–you let them get away with too much!
Cleaning up beaches, preventing oil from reaching bird habitats etc–that’s not BP’s agenda! They don’t care!! So don’t put them in charge–just take their money–put others in charge–who do care!!
This is a crisis, Obama.
You can’t please everyone, Obama. You should quit trying to please everyone. (by the way I’d never vote for you again in a million years.)
I don’t see any leadership from the White House at all. Not in the oil spill, not in health care, not in ending wars, not in alternative energy.
