ABC News' Rick Klein reports: President Obama today confronted a new challenge to his Afghanistan policy from an unlikely source, accepting the resignation of Gen. Stanley McChrystal, his top commander in Afghanistan. But the larger issue of the US strategy in the region remains – and grows in prominence with the attention paid to McChrystal’s comments and ouster. Jonathan Karl and I chatted about it on ABC/Washington Post’s “Top Line” today with Karen Tumulty of The Washington Post. Watch the first segment of our discussion HERE.
We also talked politics with Tumulty, including Nikki Haley’s win in the Republican primary for governor in South Carolina. (We get why she thanked Sarah Palin – but Mark Sanford, too?) Watch the second segment of today’s “Top Line” HERE.
(And our apologies to Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., for technical snafus that prevented us from having him join us today. We’ll aim to get him on the program again soon.)
