White House: Senator Kyl Not Telling Truth About Immigration Reform Conversation
White House officials challenged the veracity Monday of an account of a private conversation Sen. Jon Kyl, R-Ariz., said he had with President Obama.
On June 18, Kyl, the Senate Republican Whip, told a North Tempe Tea Party town hall that in an Oval Office conversation between the two of them about securing the US-Mexico border, "here's what the president said: 'The problem is,' he said, 'if we secure the border, then you all won’t have any reason to support ‘comprehensive immigration reform.’ In other words, they’re holding it hostage. They don’t want to secure the border unless and until it is combined with ‘comprehensive immigration reform.’”
The White House Monday rejected Kyl's account.
“The President didn’t say that and Senator Kyl knows it," White House communications director Dan Pfeiffer told ABC News. "There are more resources dedicated toward border security today than ever before, but, as the President has made clear, truly securing the border will require a comprehensive solution to our broken immigration system.”
Kyl spokesman Ryan Patmintra said the senator stood by his account, which he said was "about as straight forward as you can get."
"There were two people in that meeting, and Dan Pfeiffer was not one of them. Senator Kyl stands by his remarks, and the White House spokesman’s pushback that you must have comprehensive immigration reform to secure the border only confirms Senator Kyl’s account."
Kyl's account was first reported on the conservative website Red State.
To back up its claim that President Obama has already moved forward on securing the southern border, the White House provided background on President Obama's "Strategic and Integrated Southwest Border Strategy," stating that in the past year the US government has doubled the personnel assigned to Border Enforcement Security Task Forces, tripled the number of Immigration and Customs Enforcement intelligence analysts; and required the Department of Homeland Security to — for the first time — screen all southbound rail shipments for illegal weapons, drugs, and cash; among other steps.

Mr Pfeiffer, after June 30, the end of the fiscal year for Arizona, perhaps you would like to announce and explain to the taxpayers of Arizona the total cost of dealing with and providing for illegal aliens, their spouses and offspring. How much Mr Pfeiffer, just in the state of Arizona?
Stand-up and talk to the American People, Mr Pfeiffer…Speak the truth to the American People.

The whole idea of building a fence as long as the distance from Chicago to Washington DC is ludicrous. If anyone thinks that this multibillion dollar boondoggle would really address our immigration problem, they need to get a brain. Most people that are here illegally did not come trapsing through the desert with a few coyotes. They came across through the border stations and just stayed here.
The most important thing that would deter illegal immigration is the condition that there would be no means of supporting themselves once they get here. How do you do that? Enforce and improve out temporary worker visa program and heavily punish businesses that hire people who do not have a work permit.
Because of the economy, there are few jobs here in Arizona, I do live here and already because of the lack of jobs, the illegals have almost disappeared.
Wake up and tell our Senators Kyl and McCain to stop the political pandering to the fear mongering jerks that do not know any better.

The White House PA comment seems to back up Senator Kyl. Note that the three items cited as improvements in border security are pretty small beer:
“doubled the personnel assigned to Border Enforcement Security Task Forces, tripled the number of Immigration and Customs Enforcement intelligence analysts; and required the Department of Homeland Security to — for the first time — screen all southbound rail shipments.
How many people were in the Security Tasks Forces before? Are they the same as regular border agents? Likewise the border intelligence analysts – how many did they have before? And can we presume that these analysts don’t actually patrol anything?
Others have commented about the futility of searching southbound trains.
Whatever happened to those 3,000 National Guards troops promised by the President? Where are they and what are they supposed to do?
Senator Kyl is right – they don’t want a secure border, they want “comprehensive reform,” by which we can assume they want the once-illegals to join the Democratic Party.

For the second time (Sestak and Kyl) now, a Democrat meets with Obama and then reports to the press. Then, the WH basically says that it never happened and that these guys are liars.

Immigration reform and securing the border are 2 completely seperate issues….period. There is essentially a war going on between Mexico and the USA at the border of CA, TX and AZ. We should commit all resources available to stop it. It is puzzling how we were supposed to be focussed “like a laser beam” on jobs and the economy, but Congress is a little busy with trying to restructure the SC ruling on big businesses using their money to run political ads.

What a dishonest bunch of people. Who are they kidding? The White House knows and everybody knows that this the Democrats way of getting potential voters. I am from South American and I tell you that in the two decades living in this country I have met probably 5 Hispanics including me that will declared themselves Republicans. Over 90% of Hispanics vote nothing but democrats regardless. That is what they are accustomed to. They are accustomed going to the government for handouts, jobs, Health Care. To a Hispanic including my family the government is the solution to all problems.
Yesterday on one of the liberal shows where Greta was a commenting on a democrat was suggesting that we need the “Illegals PhD’s coming across the border…”". PhD illegal” Aliens coming across the Arizona border? What?? This guy’s nose should have grown an inch as he was saying that! Let’s take it a step further since we are lying in front of the T.V. to the stupid “ignorant American people” as they seem to think that we are….We need Immigration Reform because of the Mexican Crown Prince and/or A Guatemalan Princess sneaking at night across the border of California. Let’s see what about Comprehensive Immigration Reform to attract the Novel Prize Winners with PhD’s on Rocket Science from El Salvador sneaking across the Texas border. What a about Immigration Reform to attract the “Talented” people that we need to clean our bathrooms, our lawns. Unique “Talent” that cannot be found anywhere but in Central America. What else can I help that guy dream about in order to get Immigration Reform for the people that are coming across the border…?
The truth is that the Democrats will not want an Illegal Crown Prince and/or any PhD here because more likely the more education you have the less likely is that those people will believe the crap that the Democrats would want to feed them.
The White House and all the Democratrs know better. Several people have interviewed the Arizona Governor and she is very claer about the law. Everyone with 10 monites of their time and willing to get to the truth sghould read the Arizona law before commenting on it.
We do not want Illegal’s in this country period PhD, Novel Prize Winner, Doctor or Gardners. Especially the illegal’s coming across the border. Most of the Illegal’s coming across the border have very little education if any. Eventually they and their extended family end up in some kind of government welfare system whether you want to admit that or not. What a disappointed Greta I actually started watching you because I know that you are a Democrat but I was impress that lately you have been trying to get to the truth of the matter in various issues.
At last everyone should go back to the back of the line and apply to enter this country the LEGAL way. I have been waiting for some members of my family permission to enter this country for 5 years. It will be until about 8 more years that they will probably able to have their Visas to be approved for “Relative Alien”. I knew the long wait when I submitted their Immigration papers and they knew that as well. By the time it comes it will be worth more. No one in my family will dream of entering this country or any country illegally. We tend to follow the rule of law. I wish if the people of this program and the Illegal people from Mexico and Central American will do the same.
What a joke of a segment “Illegal PhD coming across the border”…and … the White house saying…”but, as the President has made clear, truly securing the border will require a comprehensive solution to our broken immigration system.” Sounds to me that the bottom line for the is “NO REFORM NO BORDER SECURITY”.

Its fun to read that a DEMOCRAT (e.g. President Obama, etc.) is lying, or accuse them to don’t do enough, not securing the border, the economy, etc. Also republicans go farther… they now are saying that its more undocumented workers are crossing the border than before. That they are criminals… etc. All smoke bombs. To distract everybody of the truth.
HERE IS THE TRUTH: We are in this horrendous recession because the REPUBLICAN party willing full LIED about WEAPONS of MASS DESTRUCTION in Iraq and we went to war because of that. Because they were incapable to caught Osama Bin Laden when they could. Because all the tax brakes given to people with high income. Because they are facing now the worst ecological disaster because REPUBLICANS did not enforce safety measures and controls during their administration. And… why REPUBLICANS did not enforce or close the border, after all democrats did vote for those measures during Bush presidency? Because they are profiting with the borders AS IS!!! That is the reason that always delay and they are not willing to commit anything that actually solve the problem. They are making money with the “new slave”, after all big corporations hire undocumented workers. And they want to keep them without rights. That is the real thing behind this GOP opposition to an immigration reform. This is not (its never been) about unemployment and defending the country. Its about profit.
Lying… you are accusing of lying. How dare!!! I haven’t seen a more despicable people that the people that now run the honorable REPUBLICAN party this days. And more, they are incorporating the Tea Party (the new KKK + Nazi group)to their files.
We, the independent voters, are not fools, at least not for long time. This aberration of “NAZI/KKK/REPUBLICAN” mixing is the real American threat. Nazis want to hide behind big words (like criminals, expending, etc.) and creating false accusations just like Hitler did.
But I know you, and as same like me, thousands will be start to see day by day what the GOP is becoming. It’s a shame that people like you call your self American! You do not deserve that title. But sooner or later the real America will be punishing with votes (AGAIN!) this shameful aberration. I hope, this time, the GOP learn the lesson.

I definitely side with Kyl on this issue. He has far more integrity than our POTUS.
Securing the border is separate from comprehensive immigration reform. We cannot wait for Congress to dillydally around fighting over a reform bill. We need to secure the border now. Terrorists from the middle east are sneaking into our country. Last week 29 of 32 people found in a Phoenix drop house were from countries other than Mexico. They came from China, Guatamala, India, El Salvador, etc.
Last week the Border Patrol caught 4 men who created horrendous crimes against children and were previously deported.
ABC takes out the links to other websites but if you google for the US Border Patrol Weekly Blotter you should be able to see their current newsletter.
These are not family men seeking employment in the US. Many arrested are gang members, sex offenders, drug smugglers or convicted of other crimes.
Secure our borders now!

2010 Hispanic Republican Nominees:

Do the Democrats have any Hispanic nominees for Governor in 2010? Senate?
Ironic that the answer is “no” to each of these questions, isn’t it Skip?

Obama undermining efforts to control illegal immigration!
From Kyle’s website today!
Enforcement Gains Now At Risk Under the Obama Administration
Regrettably, much of the progress made in recent years now appears to be at risk under the Obama administration. For example, the budget President Obama proposed for FY2011 would actually reduce both the number of Border Patrol agents available to secure the border and the number of detention spaces available to hold illegal immigrants. It would substantially underfund the State Criminal Alien Assistance Program – providing only $330 million or about a third of the total $950 million that has been authorized – and cancel plans to extend the border fence beyond the 670 miles already planned.
The President’s budget would cut the Customs and Border Protection budget by two percent, reduce funding for E-Verify by $35 million, and cut $226 million from the budget for border security, fencing, infrastructure and technology.
Unless Congress reverses these reductions, border security will suffer. I intend to fight the President’s budget recommendations and maintain the progress we have made in recent years.

Some of these comments are ridiculous; especially yours Possum Dearie (what the hell name is that). Do you even read what you write? So if I understand your comments correctly the Republicans are Nazis and Oblamea and the Democrats are our Saviors (That’s not a misspelling of Obama). Truth is both sides are corrupt. Don’t be so naive as to think your party is perfect, while the other party is a bunch of Nazis. There are very few Senators (on either side) I respect. Jon Kyl is one of them. I tend to believe Jon Kyle more than Obama. However, I wasn’t in the room and I don’t know for sure.

If it was as easy as Mr Kyle is saying it is than why didn’t president Bush do it?..it takes legistlation by congress to close the border…Kyle knows this.president Obama can’t get legistlation through congress that just closes the border.

Perhaps it is the Democrats who are “keeping Hispanics down”…
-By successfully getting more Hispanics elected to the House of Representatives by a margin of 7 to 1? Hardly. You’re cherry-picking data as usual.

But yet you choose to avoid facing reality and answering the question. Are you familiar with the concept of gerrymandering?
Where are the Hispanic “stars” (rising or otherwise) in the Democratic party? (crickets…)
Democrats are interested in Hispanics to the extent they can subjugate them to the “government plantation” run by Democrats. Otherwise, they could care less…

WE NEED AN IMMIGRATION REFORM BECAUSE: I do not want myself (or any of my children) to work as a gardener or cleaning bathrooms (that is why I’m sending them to college). I do not have nothing against that kind of work, and I do respect anyone who does it.
Before we were able to pay and afford high salaries to low skill jobs, now the reality is different and we need to adapt. We need low skill workers who can take care of our crops, build homes and work in a factory line. We can complain all year about the abuse of the Mexican government, and how Mexicans cross the border claiming that California was in one time part of Mexico… but we can not ignore the fact that we need a low pay labor force who does a great work for us. And we are going to need a lot more in the future!!!
Why Republicans opposed to an immigration reform that will fix this 21st century problem?
-If they are legal they can not be abused anymore by big corporations.
-If we are able to bring low skill workers legally: NO MORE PROFIT!
-Less drug and weapons crossing the border.
Republicans are hiding their dirty business as usual behind grandiloquent political postures. That’s all. I wont be surprise to discover that several GOP “Cristian Conservatives” that oppose to this in reality are owners of Human/Drug/Weapon traffic organizations. After all they makes go to war for petroleum using 9-11 as excuse. What else you can expect!

Haven’t you learn already!!!! ALL TERRORIST ARE LEGAL IMMIGRANTS or THEY ARE ALREADY US CITIZENS.
Since they are not illegals therefore THEY DO HAVE DOCUMENTS to travel and stay legally in US territory, they do not need to cross our border illegally.
Please give me a break! Stop blaming undocumented workers for 9-11 and other acts of terrors. And besides… don’t tell me about illegals that are criminals, of course you are going to find some and those need to be deported. Most part of the undocumented workers are just that: workers!. We do have our share of child molesters, mob gangsters and mass murderers already. Or you are going to blame the Mexicans for all that is wrong in this world too!!! Humanity share more than a million year of migration instinct without or with borders. Assume it!

Oh brother.
Let’s see… what party do most Hispanics in the US Senate and House belong to?
Well… there’s only one in the Senate currently and he’s a Democrat.
(and while we’re at it, of the 17 women in the Senate, 13 are Democrats; the one Japanese American is a Democrat, the one native Hawaiian is a Democrat, and the one African American is a Democrat)
In the House, there are something like 25 Hispanics and at least 23 of them are Democrats and members of the Democrat’s Hispanic caucus– and while we’re at it the majority of religiously diverse members of the House are Democrats as are the majority of women, Asians, African Americans in the House and so on….
Diversity is a not a characteristic of the GOP.
The GOP is an out of date, out of touch, xenophobic institution with no solutions and failed policy ideas.

Makes one believe that Kyle is telling the truth, otherwise where are the 1200 guards, that were to be in Arizona with in 2 weeks of Obama’s meeting with the Governor of AZ, to help secure the border? Did they get lost or was the President lying when he said he was sending them and had already been in the process a year ago to send? Looks like his response is as slow as with the Oil Spill. Seems it is more important that he looks after his image, then looks after the people of the U.S.A, that he is supposed to be working for!!!

Excelsior, the national newspaper of Mexico, “The American Southwest seems to be slowly returning to the jurisdiction of Mexico without firing a single shot.”
Professor Jose Angel Gutierrez, University of Texas; “We have an aging white America. They are not making babies. They are dying. The explosion is in our population . . . I love it. They are shitting in their pants with fear. I love it.”
Art Torres, Chairman of the California Democratic Party, “Remember 187–proposition to deny taxpayer funds for services to non-citizens–was the last gasp of white America in California.”
Gloria Molina, Los Angeles County Supervisor, “We are politicizing every single one of these new citizens that are becoming citizens of this country . . . I gotta tell you that a lot of people are saying, “I’m going to go out there and vote because I want to pay them back.”
Mario Obledo, California Coalition of Hispanic Organizations and California State Secretary of Health, Education and Welfare under Governor Jerry Brown, also awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Bill Clinton, “California is going to be a Hispanic state. The ACLU, a pro-illegal immigrant, anti-sovereignty law organization that taxpayers are supporting, is incessantly intimidating true Americans and permanent residents? YES! You pay through the nose, to subsidize this Communist-inspired entity. We can beat these creeps, when they threatened to sue small towns and cities, that have been overwhelmed by the illegal alien plight? If hundreds of communities started to fight back–such as Fremont, Nebraska, as is the state of Arizona–by voting out Liberals hiding behind Democrats in the Senate and House, whom are tearing the fabric of this law abiding country apart. United cities, towns who want to stop this propagating invasion, should collectively vote against illegal aliens stealing jobs, the harboring foreign nationals, renting property and accessing welfare entitlements. The ACLU and other radical groups do not have the absolute legal representation in numbers or cash, to sue massive collectives of municipalities that have had enough of encroachment of illegal people who scorn our laws.
As for Sen. Kyl Lying? It seems to me that with Sen. Harry Reid (D-NV) involved and his disasterous move towards gigantic expenditure to allow illegal aliens to permanently stay. That its more in line with the President Obama ultra-Liberal czars, that Arizona Sen. Jon Kyl is telling the truth about a silent conspiracy to hold Republicans hostage in squeezing through another damaging–AMNESTY. The Obama administration wants to drain even more money from taxpayers, to support the open border forces, to keep the 20 to 30 million illegal aliens here. Every citizen-resident must realize foreign occupancy also influences–YOU–and your children’s future, wages, culture, language and the deterioration of our most sacred document–the US Constitution. by Leftist extremists.
The federal government has failed to build the border fence correctly? Only one fence has been partly completed, the second fence built as a prison chain-link fence adorned with nasty razor wire. Its’ incredulous that the 2006 Secure fence act was under funded could not work, because of the interdiction by Sen. Harry Reid of Nevada, Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-TX, and co-sponsored by Sen. John Cornyn, (R-TX) Investigate the–REAL FENCE–as in San Diego, California that has a 99.8 success rate, but our US Government never passes on this information. Learn about the Liberal Democrats forcible push in cramming–AMNESTY–down your throat. Hundreds and billions of dollars are secretly used to pay for underwriting “Anchor Babies” and welfare, that come out of your payroll check. NumbersUSA gives all the financial answers and more. Get rid ALL–the Pro-Amnesty political incumbents in November.

Please give me a break! They are not undocumented, they are documented but just not here. Here they are illegal and need to go home. Illegals are not just from Mexico, even some who come over our borders “illigally” from Mexico are not Mexicans. Obama does not need a new law to secure our border. It is his duty but he just isn’t doing it.

“There are more resources dedicated toward border security today than ever before, but, as the President has made clear, truly securing the border will require a comprehensive solution to our broken immigration system”
Like the 1200 guardsmen who are under orders not to detain illegals crossing the border but only be on the lookout for guns and drugs (as stated by the state dept on May 26th)?
otherwise this statement seems to completely back up Kyl’s statement.
In fact according to DHS Obama’s Strategic and Integrated Southwest Border Strategy is strictly concerned with the war on drugs. As stated on March 26th 2010 “Secretary Janet Napolitano today highlighted the United States’ significant progress in securing the U.S.-Mexico border one year after the Obama administration announced the Southwest Border Initiative—a series of unprecedented steps to crack down on Mexican drug cartels by deploying additional personnel and technology…”. Imagine what ABC could have asked had they bothered to do simple Google searches.

It hurts when I point out facts that go against your talking points, doesn’t it? Again, where are the Democrat Hispanic candidates (particularly those from non-gerrymandered government plantation districts and those engaged in state-wide races)?
Since you brought up women, let’s just ignore Sharon Angle (who will depose Harry “the war is lost” Reid”), Carly Fiorina (who will depose Barbara “Ma’am” Boxer), Meg Whitman, and Nikki Haley (most likely the next governor of SC whose parents are Indian – she joins Bobby Jindal (R-LA) as the only other governor with Indian roots).
This being said, to conservatives ethnicity, race, gender, religion do not matter – character and ideas do. Identity politics is the carrying card of Democrats and progressives. It drives them crazy when politicians who “should be on their team” (e.g., women, Hispanics, blacks, etc.) are successful as Republicans. They are demonized and castigated to no end. Afterall, they are by rights members of the government plantation, right?

Totally untrue. I’ve always thought very highly of both Olympia Snowe and Colin Powell. Of course, they’re not considered “real” Republicans nowadays are they? And that gets to the heart of the matter….
Actually what drives me crazy is that when women, Hispanics, blacks succeed as Republicans nowadays, they tend to be total fruitcakes– Michael Steele, Sharon Angle, Sarah Palin, and so on.
The Republican party is worthless now. Its actually very sad. Once upon a time, they actually were a grand ole party with prinicples, integrity, diversity and so on. But not since the culture wars of the 1960s.
Don’t understand how an American could want to associate with such a corrupt group of xenophobes and corporate bought loudmouths.

This is too funny –let’s examine the Obama’s administration record:
–Obama said the $20 billion extorted from BP will be handled by an independent party–but then he appoints his Pay Czar– Mr Feinberg.–
–Salazar/Obama misrepresented what the experts told him about the 6 month moratorium on drilling -the experts were actually against the moratorium and Salazar had to apologize. But Obama still hasn’t removed the moratorium has he???–
–Mr Kyl tells us Obama said he is not going to secure the border because then Congress wouldn’t have any reason to move ahead with immigration reform. So Obama is playing politics while AZ burns.–
I have to side with Mr Kyl on this one.

As Rahm Emanuel said: “Let no crises go to waste”. Obama’s right hand man. Obama is on the fringe of our society and trying to bring society to him. Do we really want to go with him? Obama has his own agenda and it doesn’t include the United States of America staying a Republic. When we can no longer fly our Flag without reservations and recite the National Anthem in our schools, we have gone to far. We are Americans and we are proud to be so. Not the Obama administration.

in defense of the GOP’s utter lack of diversity…

Git off of it. Whether either of these 2 pols worship at the altar of
“diversity” has nothing to do with a pretty straightforward issue.

i tend to believe kyl over “shakedown” Obama….he has much more credibility than these group of thugs in the white house

The Obamabots are lying.
I spoke with a rancher, yesterday, who attended a meeting with McCain & Kyl, in Douglas, AZ, that week. This rancher confirms Kyl’s report; but as he didn’t have a video camera on him, it cannot be proved. The ranching community up there (this is where their friend and fellow rancher, Robt. Kruetz was murdered last month) was dismayed but not surprised. It is open war on the AZ border, and it will get worse as the lies continue to spew out of Washington.

“screen all southbound rail shipments for illegal weapons, drugs, and cash; among other steps.”

What about all the northbound items????
Looking back on Sen. Kyls and on Pres. Obamas record about speaking the truth, I believe Sen. Kyl wins by the largest margin ever.

Pres.Obama is playing CHESS while all you “not smarter then a 5th grader” are all playing checkers! Why do you all think that Obama wants to lie?…what is the purpose?…the conservatives are always “dumping” on him..what ever he does or doesn’t do ,they will disagree with & call him a liar..day after day after day.We need to stick together as a country or we will all go down the drain…you negative people are traitors to our country!!Amen

I believe Kyl over Thug Obama

Why should we believe you, Mr. Obama, when you have back peddled before? Why is this a game with you, you sociopathic thug.

It would seem to me the statement would be easy to verify since there is a tape system in the Oval Office that records every word uttered there. If it was acceptable to get the tapes during the Nixon admisinistration, it should be acceptable now. If the White House comes back with some excuse about
“National Security”, that would speak volumes.

I am sure all conversations with the president are recorded. So why don’t we hear that recording. I am sure the reason is that obama is lieing. History will show him as the worst president, much more so that Bush II.

Burlyb has a problem and that is if one is to disagree with our president then we are subversives. I do not have a problem with a black man, a black/white man, a woman, a black woman, or any mixed, or plain person. I have a history that is long with different types of races in it. We as people of our nation have the right to say we don’t agree with our president. He may even be called a liar. All I know is that this last election is the first one in my life that I voted Republican just because I didn’t believe in what slick/Obama, and his wife were selling.

Oh yes, we indeed deserve the government we get if we don’t vote or in other ways let our voices be heard. Mr. Obama has little time left to make all his wishes come true for our country. Remember all those things he said. What stimulus check. No one I know got one. I don’t want any of my money sent back to me by someone who knows it is my money to begin with, how juvenile he must think we are! Cross your finger and pull that lever for no more years.

Okay, hold them hostage and put them in jail for 6 months, long enough to get a good grasp of English. Then you take them to the recruiters and have them sign them up in the Marines or Army. Those are the ones that are really the moving targets. Let them be front line soldiers for about 8 years. In the mean time send mom and kids back to where they are from. The only way out of the military is feet first, or an Honorable Discharge. Like that?

We’ve had amnesties in the past where the promise was after each amnesty then finally immigration law would be enforced. The promise of immigration law enforcement is the standard lie dangled in order to get support for amnesty.
If Obama wants to prove that it is Senator Kyl and not Barack who is lying then all Obama has to do is what he so far refuses to do: Build a massive multi-layer wall along the US border with Mexico and stop all illegal crossings. Then do vigorous interior enforcement of immigration law. He does not need “comprehensive immigration reform” to enforce the law.

I wonder if Sen Kyle “intended” this as a true statement. The man is a liar among liars, no?

I admit: I have already been won-over to the fiscal naysayers regarding the marketplace. Has anyone found any glimmer of optimism in this “slow-down”?
