Ok, I did a little digging and his active and guard duty totals 11 years, which clears up that part. However, he graduated from West Point in 2003, that still makes seven years service as an officer and he’s still an LT. Not that anyone really cares, but im just making an observation.

I won’t express my views on the homosexuality part of this, but I am wondering why an 11 year guard veteran coming out of West Point is only an LT? Was he demoted before being discharged or what? As a guard soldier myself I have never seen anyone spend more than 3 to 4 years tops as an LT. Plus I was under the impression that West Point only commissioned active duty, which if Im correct means he had more than 11 total years. This does not make any sense in a rank standpoint.

And yes, at this time, this also means if you’re honest about your homosexuality you won’t be able to serve and you will be discharged…until they build new facilities for you to take showers in or come up with a plan to address this fundamental basic human rights issue.

First of all I think it’s a disgrace how Obama didn’t settle this with an Executive Order like Truman used to integrate Blacks in the miltary.Second I bet if Ben Laden and friends were asked if they wanted Gays in their forces,that they would make the same kind of ignorant and bigoted comments that the right wingers are making here and elsewhere.

IT’S NOT THAT YOU’RE GAY! If your life evolves around and is defined by your sexual behavior, then you don’t need to have a Government Job, especially with children, period!

What is the big deal about being gay and serving in the military, if the person is professional and does not make any kind of unwanted sexual advances towards any of his buddies i see no problem why this should be an issue. If you were in a situation where only a gay person could save your life would you refuse such assistantce? i bet you wouldnt.
