Did the President Go to the Wrong Ice Cream Store?
EmailABC News' David Kerley reports from Maine:
Visiting Bar Harbor, Maine for a little rest and relaxation, President Obama climbed to the top of a scenic hill in Acadia National Park. The family went for a bike ride, and walked through the quaint town. And then they went for ice cream at Mt. Desert Ice Cream.
“I got coconut,” the President said, “Excellent, I’d recommend it.”
Great advertising for the ice cream shop. But another shop is feeling a little sour. Ben & Bill’s Chocolate created an entire flavor for the President. “Commander in Chief Chip” has red, white and blue stripes with chocolate chips. But it didn’t get a taste by the first family.
Manager Adreinne Buckley was understanding. “It’s his choice, it’s his vacation,” she told ABC News.
The ice cream isn’t going to waste. Plenty of people are giving it a try.
“A lot of people are getting purple tongues,” Buckley said.
And she still has a chance to have the name sake of the ice cream a try. The Obama’s don’t leave until Sunday morning.
“Tomorrow is another day,” Buckley said.

Yeah, he was supposed to be at the ice cream shop on the Gulf Coast where he and Mrs. Obama who also said dessert is not a right told us to vacation.
I guess the Gulf Coast is for the Small People.

GOSH! Luckily he didn’t have to produce his papers… He might have not been able to stay in the U.S.

maine is beautiful, but ounce a person visits Martha’s Vineyard it’s hard to want to go anywhere else.
I have travelled a bit and I hope the president visits Newport R.I. It’s another secret beauty spot. Both places are magical. I love Maine in the winter for skiing, but to have a great out of this world experince Hyannis and Newport RI are super. While there he could visit Boston, Bristol is gorgeous also. I like places that have a foreign historical feel to them, yet very modern, hip, great families, fun, clean, and not just one block of it, but entire town. If Obama reads this you have to visit Newport also. I’s beautiful but during the summer only of course. I was there during the winter and it’s a ghost town. Most people leave for the winter and in the summer it is just breathtaking and full of life. Go to the black pearl, and visit shamarock cliff, and I’m begining to miss New England a lot. Like FL, but there’s no place like New England. People are educated, modern, fun, hard and know how to live. I find most other states people work, go home, work, do something here and there, but like Europe New Englanders are active and going to a restaurant twice a week is average, getting together with others is also the average. Huge difference in states. Maine is great for relaxation like biking, boating and more humble experiences, but to have it all go to Newport and of course Hyannis. Even George Town is amazing…Have fun kids…

Put a sock in it robtr. The only “little people” are the thousand that died under the Republicans in New Orleans. But hey, Obama’s been in office for 18 months, maybe somehow you can blame that on him as well.
BTW, compared to the amount of vacation Bush took during the presidency, Obama’s doing okay.

If Obama cares so much about protecting the rights of illegal immigrants, why is he letting them die in the desert heat while he plays golf in Bah Hahba?

John, Bush took TWO vacations each year one in the summer and one in the winter, Pres. Obama is on a extended vacation, with outings, golf, basketball, the presidency for him is a parttime job.

If the great O’s are going to vacation, they should spend our tax money to help out the gulf coast he’s destroyed with 90 days of stalling and now his moratorium.
And if the Obamas are going to buy ice cream, they should go to the store where Biden called the owner a smartass and apologize.
Of course, like Biden, Obama refuses to recognize the fact that Biden was insulting his BOSS!
They keep forgetting they work for US.
Maybe it’s time we “showed” them who’s BOSS!

And you’re NOT demanding that we Find out Why these 11 Human Beings lost their lives JUST because they went to work. I wouldn’t mind him taking vactions if he was working hard and doing a good job, but he’s not. Furthermore, he seems to take a vacation every few weeks. Not to mention golf and parties at the White House. I guess reading a teleprompter everyday must be tiring. Is it 2012 yet?

President Bush spent 487 days, Yes, that’s 487 days at Camp David. And Camp David is not even where the president has spent the most time when not at the White House: Knoller reports that Mr. Bush has made 77 visits to his ranch in Crawford during his presidency, and spent all or part of 490 days there.
And when we worked it was to start 2 wars, giving massive tax breaks to the 1% of the rich, tanking the economy… how I wish he spent ALL his time in Crawford? we would all be in better shape

sara, unfortunately people die for all kinds of reasons in all kinds of industrial and non industrial accidents. Companies drill for oil because the entire world has an unending appetite for oil and they make money at it. You probably drive right?

I have been to Martha’s Vineyard once, and Mount Desert Island/Bar Harbor 9 times…you don’t have to guess which one I like better. It’s too bad the tourists had to be inconvenienced with roadblocks, etc. while they were visiting. Every little minute is precious there, not to be wasted.

For heavens sake, grow up people. Let the man do his job! Think positively and support the office of President. As with any elected official, all the people will never be satisfied. Just accept what is and try to do something for the good of America instead of bad mouthing the President every chance you get. Think what a difference we could all make if we adopted this attitude.
