First Lady Encourages Americans to Vacation on Gulf – But Obamas Head to Maine Instead

So this is why they are going to Bar Harbor Maine for their vacation?

She meant to say the LITTLE people should go to the Gulf Coast.

Can you imagine what a boost it would have been for the region to have the first family go on a road trip through the affected states? Can’t you see the photos of the Obamas on the beaches, the kids digging in the sand..the family eating at local restaurants? What a missed opportunity, you wonder who’s advising them…you hate to think it, but maybe they really don’t care.

I wonder if Mrs. Obamas allow their two kids swim in the oil-filled beaches.

cythia, Either someone is giving them terrible PR advice..or they arent listening to the advice they are being given. If Obama can put off a formal, complex state visit to Indonesia, he could certainly tinker with the family vacation.

cynthia..i just saw a picture of the cap, lets pray it works..and it does look good so far! My husband and I just came back from a “week-end vacation” (haha) on the West Coast of Florida, and I’m telling you, there is nothing like it..the crystal clear waters full of shells, the white beaches, the pelicans dive bombing for fish..it’s heaven on earth! I encourage everyone who can to go-you’ll be so glad you did.

I’m not holding Obama responsible for the spill in the gulf. And I’m not personally affected by the spill. I live in Kentucky. If a man has to goto Main to spend a moment with his family, more power to you. If he’d taken his family to the Gulf at what point do you spend it with your children since every moment would have been politics. I just hope if you can make these decisions for your own family, at some point you start feeling the same empathy for the rest of your family.

Forked tongue Obama does it again. Kind of like the swine flu vaccine that Obama trumpeted and wouldn’t give it to her daughter even though, with asthma, she was a high risk to swine flu and therefore a high priority recipient of the vaccine. But while Obama talked Americans into it, he himself excused his family from it.

please this is not an OIL SPILL and please stop referring it as an oil spill….this is a huge catastrpohic diaster…..and along with BP the American goverment should take blame for this….4 months this has been going on for….and its destorying our kids and grandkids future….things will never been the same in the Gulf for decades.

and if the First Lady is telling the American people to take their vacations to the Gulf, then why not follow your own words….show your people that you care enough to go and have your vaction in the Gulf!!!
As a world citizen i’m ashamed of the American government and BP dealing of this diaster….Obama did not act quick enough….he turned away help from other nations, miles of booms where still in storage and haven’t been used.

Obama is soft on action, I thought my bumper sticker would have faded long before my hope. Please google and watch “The Obama Deception”. It’ll open your eyes.

Everyone in this nation and in the world is in an adverse way affected by the pollution; the toxic dispersents being used by BP. The marine life dying, the food supply also.
There is a lack of authority by the states over BP, and a lack of authority by states over their own borders. Our nation needs a President that leads in righteousness, that means the right way.
Today we have a President that vacations.

I am sure the people of the Gulf would like to give the first family a break and cater with some fresh seafood from the gulf area.

How sad that Americans have such a selective memory when it comes to past presidents. I applaud Mrs. Obama for trying to encourage tourists to visit. I don’t believe she asked people to go swimming in the oil slick – but to help out the small businesses in the areas that have not been affected. I live in an oceanfront resort community. Our area would surely die if the same thing happened to us. You can blame the Obamas all you would like, but this entire mess has been in the making since the idiot Bush took office – how many “vacations” did he take – unfortunately he should have taken a permanent vacation after the first four years instead of inflicting more stupidity on us. Anyone who voted for him a second time should be ashamed!

The Obamas concern for the Gulf is limited to impact on this disaster on polls. That’s it – These are “red states” afterall. It would be interesting to imagine how their response would have been different had this happened of the coast of CA or OR (as well as the response of so-called (selective) “environmentalists”).

What’s a vacation?? I haven’t had one of them in years. I live in Maine and I
think the O’s should go to the Gulf and stay away from Maine.

Some Fl. hotels, motels, and resorts are hurting themselves. My family and I vacationed in Fl. two weeks ago. We went from the East side down to the Keys and then up the gulf side to Orange Beach, Al. The closer to the oil disaster we came the higher the room prices got. I feel sorry for the small family own businesses but the hotel, motel, resort industry is killing themselves and everyone else along with them. We thought we were doing a good thing by heading to the oil soaked beaches. We wanted to spend some of our vacation money helping them. But after the expensive hotel room we didn’t have a lot left to spend. Every place we stayed in Fl. away from the spill the rooms were CHEAP. They were discounting to keep people coming to FL. But I guess that doesn’t matter to some businesses. They just keep charging the high prices to people trying to help them. What goes around comes around…

Hey! Obama doesn’t have to always go to the beach on vacation. What the First Lady’s suggestion was if you were planing to visit the gulf then you still should. Not that she doesn’t want to herself but maybe she has other plans.

Donna- you miss George Bush? I am guessing you mean HW and not Dubya– The man who took more vacation than any other president–even during Katrina, even while at war in two countries.
Obama’s 3 vacations don’t even total to Dubya’s one vacation when he was ignoring intelligence about 9/11.

Well, perhaps the Obama’s pre-planned their vacation to Maine. Still, it’d be appropriate to go visit some of the Gulf of Mexico states for 3-4 days, that are still clean of oil. It’d send a better message to the country, don’t ya think?

This country is so divided. Ask the people of the Gulf if they agree and want people to come for a week or a week end. Incredible.. Your negative responses are only hurting the people of the Gulf Coast.

Most people don’t spend hundreds of thousands of dollars of tax payer money on a weekend Vaca…getaway…escape either.

Michele told people to bring their kids down to the gulf for a swim.
Her husband has refused the assistance of 30 other countries, 12 showed up with vessels that filter water, they stood on standby, hoping he would change his mind. He did not. I am sure it is clear to 30 other governments, that the Obama’s want that oil spilled in our Gulf, go take your kids for a swim…….

I have made a typing error in one segment of my article on Barak Hussein Obama in that: instead of having typed “Council on Foreign Affairs”, I shold have typed the organization called
the, ” Council on Foreign Relations or
CFR as they are sometimes referred to!
These are the names of the enemies and organizations against mankind around the world!
I would suggest mankind had better see to putting these criminals out of power, if we plan to continue on this earth!
