McCain Invites Obama to Visit Border
In an EXCLUSIVE interview on “This Week,” Senator John McCain, R-Ariz., invited President Obama to the Arizona border.
“[Sen.] Jon Kyl and I invite the President to come to the Arizona Sonora border. The violence is incredibly high,” McCain said. “The human smuggling and drug cartels are at a level of violence where 23,000 Mexican citizens have been murdered in the last few years. … There is a level of violence which has increased to a significant degree which makes the situation far different than it was in 2007,” he said.
“We have to secure the borders,” McCain said. “We can get it secure then we can move on with comprehensive immigration reform. But I invite the President to come to the border and he can see for himself the absolute necessity of getting our border secure.”

Obama’s cynical “immigration” speech treats illegals as tools is the same way the Democrats have treated all minorities. Tell them they are exploited, make them dependents and keep them on the Democratic plantation. Hopefully, America is waking up to the Democratic designs on keeping as many of the population a possibly dependent of the government and telling them only their Democrat master can protect then. Watch how quickly a fence and trops are dispatched if the Hispanic population finds itself aligned with pro-life and family issues and eschews their Democratic wannabe slave masters. When no longer useful tools, the true evil presents itself. Witness how Clarence Thomas, Miguel Estrada, Conde Rice etc were treated all because they dared to walk away from their masters. Ditto Sarah Palin.

“We have to secure the borders,” McCain said. “We can get it secure then we can move on with comprehensive immigration reform. But I invite the President to come to the border and he can see for himself the absolute necessity of getting our border secure.”
It’s sad that McCain should have to even point that out. Of course you have to secure the border FIRST. You cannot fix an ongoing problem if the root of the problem is still there. If you have a leak in your water pipes at home, you don’t “reform” the pipes first, you shut off the main water valve so the water cannot flow to that area, THEN you fix the pipes. This is really not that hard to comprehend. However, it IS, as usual, essential for Obama to tread lightly since his political life is going to largely be based on the Hispanic community.
As far as Obama taking McCain up on visiting the border…I won’t hold my breath.

I agree with Senator McCain that the borders need to be secure.
I do not agree with a first this step, then next step process. This nation needs to attack the problem of illegals in this country simultaneously by securing the borders AND sending those already here back to their own country.
I do NOT agree with amnesty for illegals with ONE exception. If someone in this country has served at least one enlistment in one of the US Armed Forces and either continue to serve OR received an honorable discharge, they have EARNED citizenship if they abide by all other requirements.
Our nation is a nation of laws that SHOULD apply to all. If we grant amnesty to people who break our laws governing immigration, why should any citizen respect and comply with any of our laws.

Eric Holder needs to do his job and enforce existing laws to protect citizens who live near the border. I am so upset that Holder is using taxpayers money to fight the Az law when the federal law is similar and not being enforced. Oh….of course Holder didn’t read the law. On that admission alone, our congress people need to call for his removal!!

I did not hear him say any such thing. He mentioned a temporary work program that then-Senator Obama opposed. He said he would move on to comprehensive immigration reform once the border is secured.
Being in the USA illegally breaks a civil law; not a criminal one. I find that stupid, but that’s the truth. There is nothing in any current plans I know to allow amnesty to KNOWN criminals.
I personally believe that our government needs to address illegals in the US on a 2-prong basis: secure the borders to stop anymore from coming in AND find and deport those already here.
I oppose amnesty to any illegals except for those who have served in the US Armed Forces. If they are still serving OR served one full enlistment and discharged honorably, I would say they have earned citizenship AFTER they complete all other requirements.
I vehemently oppose the disgusting concept of selling US citizenship which is part of President Obama’s plan for amnesty.
Since President Obama does want to grant amnesty, why aren’t you blasting him?

ABC nightly news has reported more than once that Arizona IS the #2 kidnapping capital of the world. This isn’t a lie. And if the crime rate has gone down 1%, that doesn’t mean it’s not still too high. The Federal governments JOB is to protect/defend our coasts/borders from attack/invasion. Obama has given a feeble, slow, and uncaring response to the oil spill disaster. So R vs A, you just look silly only pointing out “drill baby drill”. Obama is only talking about stopping NEW permits for six months. But American owned oil rigs in the gulf, only account for about 1 in 10 oil rigs. The vast majority are foreign owned. Can you understand, we are only hurting American companies with the ban, and it will only affect a very small percentage of rigs anyways??

Yes, McCain forgets to mention that violence has gone down in Arizona; CBP personnel has been increased including during the Obama administration; southbound traffic has been checked and excessive cash and weapons have been seized that would have otherwise been used by the drug cartels; successful border crossings are down; e-verify has been expanded; Obama has asked for more CBP and ICE personnel; northbound train coming form Mexico have been search beginning with the Obama administration; added new technology; requested a couple new UAV’s. McCain didn’t complain this hard when Bush was in office. I’m not voting for McCain. It is because of his false and distorted political rhetoric and changing his direction to appease the far right. I live in Arizona and care about border security. I believe Obama is on the right track.

The reason you have so many illegals is because there is no point in filling applications when the time frame for processing is up to 35 years now… Who the hell is going to be dumb enough to pay non stop fees and wait.

the comment from “Skip” said it best. Go to Chicago if you want to see Obama policies. It seems clear for the realities on the ground that there might be an actual agenda to destablize, balkanize, and undermine the USA from this character Obama and his internationalist and leftist supporters and adherents. The whole idea of allowing the border to be totally open (anyone who doesn’t think it is come to Arizona or Texas) and hold up as an example the great “organizing” of Chicago-land- which Obama “organized” and his cohorts still run. Both are violent, dangerous places that feed on tax money with no results.

Chicagoland has more people and out-produces the entire state of Arizona. It also has the second largest workforce in the entire country and 32 Fortune 500 companies. But Chicago itself like many of our major cities has some very crime ridden neighborhoods, but we don’t see right-wingers protesting on a national level about that do we? No, they want to raise hysterics about how dangerous it is to wander around in the middle of the desert near the US-Mexico border.

Wow, you two are certainly the experts. Try spending a few years on the west side of town, walk the streets at night, and see if your attitude changes. This has been an issue for years and still is. Just because it doesn’t make national news every night doesn’t mean squat. Even the local news doesn’t have time to cover it all every day.
The border war has been covered extensively for years. You just weren’t listening, reading or watching.
Phoenix currently has a mayor who promotes Phoenix as a sanctuary city and has had a vested interest in suppressing bad news – but it gets out anyway. Maybe not in the volume that would satisfy experts like you two, though. On the day Obama gave his fascinating ‘reinvention of immigrants’ speech the other day, there was a big bust put together by three agencies – but it was NOT reported until the day after his speech – even though it happened the day OF his speech. Why?
You are clueless. Do some research before spouting off. Better yet. Stay home and wallow in your own ignorance. We’ll be just fine without you.

Obama visit the border? Not a chance in the universe. Obama is a theoretical elitist who’d rather keep the issue alive and the country divided for his own benefit than solve it. Secure borders is the last thing Obama will do right now – even though he campaigned about this to criticize Bush. Obama sees an opportunity to leave this issue unresolved. Obama the great divider, wants to further divide the nation and he will drag this one out as long as possible to earn himself some traction for his political machinations.

@ Earthbound and Bigo8479PM: The reason the border has become such an issue the past few months is that the drug cartels in Mexico are becoming more active in Arizona and across the US. The day Obama gave his immigration speech there was a shootout in Mexico, with 21 killed. This occurred a mere 12 miles from Nogales, AZ. If you go to the US Customs and Border Patrol website you can read the Border Patrol weekly blotter, which lists some – but not all – of the apprehensions of illegal aliens from the prior week. Most of the illegals listed in the newsletter have criminal records; many are sex offenders/child molestors, drug smugglers or gang members.
This weekend the drug cartel boasted that they would kill a US Border Patrol officer as revenge for the teen killed in TX. Keep these officers in your thoughts and prayers. They are fighting an endless war without enough troops on the ground.

“The reason the border has become such an issue the past few months is…”
…to distract Americans away from finance reform and cap and trade and other issues Republicans don’t want to confront directly. So now despite any statistics to the contrary right-wingers want to portray Arizona as a very scary dangerous place, even though more people probably die there by getting hit by lightning and falling down the stairs each year than get killed by illegal immigrants.

First Mr. Mc Cain your facts are incorrect…it is not the worst crime at your borders…figures show that the crime rate is lower than ever. Also, what would be achieved. It was you who did not approve of the fence…the same fence you are now walking next to and sayint our president …Mr. President, finish this fence…how political and phoney. Also, you were in favor of a drawdown date in Iraq…what is wrong with one on Afghanistan. They are just dates contingent on the advice of Obama’s commander. You know that but it is best for you to politicalize it and make yourself sound good. Sorry..it is not working. Each comment lowers your esteem in many eyes. I think it is time for you to retire and start reading up on some real facts.

Securing the border is nearly impossible. You can always dig a hole, climb a fence, sneak in through a truck, etc. These people want a better life and are willing to risk it all to get it. So I think there should be a path to citizenship to get it…..Either have an advanced degree, or serve 8 years in the militarty helping the rest of us protect our freedoms. The immigration issue will never go away! For now it is purely a distraction by the right wing to motivate their base. Karl Rove and Bush were the masters at this. Wrap yourself in the American Flag, mobilize the religious right wing by telling them what they want to hear, promote fear, then do whatever your friends in Wall Street want you to do. Now, it’s once again….wrap yourself in the American Flag, mobilize a bunch of racists who won’t come out an claim their racism in public, promote racism, and once you get elected, do whatever Wall St tells you to do. When are you going to get it?

5% of Arizona’s population is illegal. Yeah, let’s blame 5% of the population for everything and maybe nobody will notice the housing crisis. Give me a break.
The number of illegal immigrants in Arizona has decreased over the last few years. There are fewer people crosssing the border now than at any time in the last 3 years. Jan Brewer has low approval ratings so she has to use illegal immigration to distract everybody from her dismal record.

FOX NWES:
The U.S. Court of Appeals reversed its decision and allowed drilling in the Gulf to proceed—including on BP PLC’s now-infamous Macondo well, 50 miles off the Louisiana coast.
The Obama administration’s actions in the court case exemplify the dilemma the White House faced in developing its energy policy. In his presidential campaign, President Obama criticized the Bush administration for being too soft on the oil industry and vowed to support greener energy forms.
But, once in office, President Obama ended up backing offshore drilling, bowing to political and fiscal realties, even as his administration’s own scientists and Democratic lawmakers warned about its risks.

Why should Obama visit the border? Mc Cain’s facts are wrong. It has less crime if you check the facts then ever before. Crime rate is down. So he is wrong about that…what purpose would it serve to visit the border? Obama has sent troups..6,000 they will take care of the border. Mc Cain is contridicting himself again as he felt there shoud be a timeline for Iraq so why not for Afghanistan and Jack Tapper quickly pointed it out to him. It is because it is the opposite of what Obama says. He voted against the fence and now does promos saying “Obama..finish that fence.” He has contridicted himself over and over and his opinions are no longer valid ones. Why is he getting so much press? Because he needs it to win his primary…..nothing more.
