On our Scanner – Sobering Army Report, Rangel’s Big Trouble, Immigration, The Return of Sherrod and Even Snooki

Our scanner is buzzing today.

For starters, the ABC News on-air debut of Christiane
Amanpour

In News, There’s an Army showing stress fractures. A new
report says suicide rates are up, soldiers are abusing prescription drugs, and
the whole organization is having difficulty dealing with nine years of war. This
is far and away the lead story today. Read about it here

There’s Charlie Rangel and the mad dash by his lawyers for a
deal with the ethics committee to avoid a public reading of the ethics charges
against him. That failed and the committee unveiled 13 serious allegations

There’s the politics of Rangel. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Minority Leader John Boehner traded
barbs over whether the swamp has been drained, as Pelosi promised it would be
in 2006.

There’s the Arizona immigration law, halved by a federal
judge yesterday, but still causing a stir.

We unveiled Part 4 of our ten part series on the illegal/undocumented immigrants
living in the shadows of American society.

Some of them could end up in Sheriff Arpaio’s lockup.

There’s Shirley Sherrod, bursting back into the ether with news
that she’ll sue Andrew Breitbart over the edited and misleading video of her speech he posted online and President Obama talking “teachable moments “at
the  Urban League.

There’s teacher accountability and how Obama is squaring off
with teachers’ unions

There are jobs – Obama is grilled by Hasselbeck on The View and the Senate fails to pass a small business jobs bill.

There are Democrats, trying to make the Republican Party the
“Republican Tea Party” in voters estimation. DNC Chairman and former Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine filled us
in on Top Line.

Finally, there’s Obama v. Snooki. Now taking bets.
