Listen to the whole tape – Shirley Sherrod does make numerous racist comments, such as people only disagree with Obama because he is black. Also look at the NAACP members in the audience who nodd and clapp in approval when Shirley Sherrod makes her racist commetns and how she treated the white farmer. The tape shows what racists and hypocrites that the NAACP members and Shirley Sherrod are.

Firing Sherrod is 100% on the White House (and obama) and labelling her racist is 100% on the NAACP. This tape was doctored by a right-wing activist named Andrew Breitbart and then was immediately picked up and broadcast repeatedly by Fox News which reported it as being the entire, unedited tape. Instead of apologizing when the entire tape was released by NAACP, Fox News then tried to blame the Obama administration. The right-wing media will do anything the vilify Obama or anyone else who dares disagree with them.

JonR: The original snippet of tape, which was all Breitbart had in his possession at the time, was just that, a small piece of the whole. It itself had not been doctored, edited or complied. And Ms. Sherrod comes off even worse in the complete tape, IMO.
And Maxine Waters manages to demonstrate her dullness of mind, ignorance and bigotry nearly every time she opens her mouth. I feel ashamed for her and of her. Surely her constituents can do better than this unethical woman.

Now if David Duke got up in front of the NAAWP and made these same comments but used black instead of white and the audience clapped and showed their approval, are we really supposed to believe Ms. Waters would focus on whether Duke was trying to make a deeper point or would she cry racism?

The principle of ‘do unto others as you would have them do unto you’ is to encourage civil accord.
The Sherrod highlight caught them off guard since they didn’t expect a retort with like minded vitriol.
It would be advisable that all camps remember that an ‘eye for an eye’ and a ‘tooth for tooth’ only leaves both parties blind and toothless. However, this should be a lesson that even the mild mannered may only turn their cheek twice then respond with a vengeance.

I think the opposite is true. The NAACP had the whole tape, but somehow an excerpt was given to a guy who likes to point out flaws in our system. I think Brietbart was set up. I heard he had that tape since April, so there was time for it to be released but the NAACP didn’t do it. He won’t make that mistake again, he’s the one being set up.
