White House Sends a New 4th Bill to BP: $99.7 Million

The Obama administration today sent a fourth bill to BP Exploration & Production and BP Corporation North America and other responsible parties, which you can view HERE.

Today’s charge: $99,661,359.34, for response and recovery operations relating to the BP/Deepwater Horizon oil spill, including expenses associated with more than two dozen federal and state agencies responding to the spill.

“Payment should be made by check or money order payable to the U.S. Coast Guard,” the bill says.

BP and the other parties — Anadarko E&P Company, LP: Anadarko Petroleum Corporation; MOEX Offshore and Transocean Holdings Incorporated — have fully paid the previous three bills, totaling $122.3 million.

Have the other 3 been paid? It didn’t include previous interest so I’m assuming they have been, but hey it’s BP so no benefit of the doubt here.

It’s answered in the last paragraph. All previous bills are paid up.

Oil industry and refiners forward bill to consumers.

this is such a great idea. We should expand this principle to every polluting industry – simply send them a bill. If we don’t, we just continue to subsidize private profits. Forwarding the bill to the customers is a h-ll of alot better than simply forwarding the bill to the taxpayers.

I would expect that the government provided documentation for these charges along with the “bill”. The same rules of “evidence” for expenses should apply to the government as it does for fishermen and others who have lost income.

I always have trouble doing the fifteen percent of 997 million on my tip card.. i’d say just round it to 20 million, dividing by five.. and then let them add it up..for the total.. i hate writing 15% on the receipt.. I may use my Andarko credit card..and get some free drilling points..
