GOP Pollster: Wave is Building, Only Question Is “How High”

ABC News' Amy Walter reports:

Although they work on opposite sides of the aisle, Democratic pollster Anna Greenberg and Republican pollster Glen Bolger could agree on one thing on today’s ABC/Washington Post’s “Top Line” program:  the mid-term elections look very rough for Democrats.

With the latest Gallup poll showing a generic Democrat trailing a generic Republican by 10 points, the largest lead for the GOP in Gallup’s history, Greenberg conceded that “[t]hey're challenging numbers.

There's no way to spin it. I think we've all known it was going to be a challenging year. As the economy appears to stall, and the news about the economy is increasingly negative, it’s not that big or a surprise to me that the numbers have gotten a little worse.” But, she argues that Democratic candidates can survive by localizing their races. “If you look at what they’re [Democratic candidates] communicating to voters, whether that’s through paid, or earned media, there’s almost no discussion of the President or most thing sort of national.”

Bolger noted that “there are going to be some individual campaigns, some individual races where Democrats do survive,” but that when the mood is against you and your President has a poor approval rating, things that you say to attack your opponent, don't resonate.” The “wave is building,” said Bolger, “the only question is how high. Is it 40 seats? Is it 50 seats?”

Greenberg wants Democrats to make this election a choice between two parties, not just a referendum on the party in charge. “There are a whole lot of extremely unpopular Republican ideas,” said Greenberg, “ I think we should have a more robust conversation about what the choice is about. I’m more interested in having that conversation, than one about going back to Bush, for example.”  Many Democrats have made bashing Pres. George W. Bush, especially his handling of the economy, a staple of their campaign strategy.

There’s no bigger “wave” then the one that Anna Little is making here at the Jersey Shore in District 6! Remember the name because you will be hearing a lot more about her.

Here in New Jersey District 6, we are creating a Tsunami at the Shore – people are tired of sky-high taxes and elitist, out-of-touch Democrats. The national Tea Party wave is lifting Republican challenger Anna Little and her three-point attack of ‘Jobs – Economy – Taxes’ resonates with voters here. Expect to start hearing a LOT about Anna Little! She is a force of nature!

Congratulations to Ms. Little for the three positive posts from her supporters. Out here in the west, we thought her name was “Snooki”.

As a voter in district 6 I am hearing a lot of talk about Anna Little the tea party’s choice. The more I hear about her the more I too have been carried away with the “wave”!!!! The wave is an accurate description for Anna Little’s campaign being as water is as natural to the jersey shore as Anna Little is. Also it is one of the strongest forces of nature. We have all seen how a wave can change a landscape. This is also how i see Anna Little changeing politics in NJ.

I have never been involved in politics before this year. I am amazed at how many colleagues and fellow commuters are talking about the upcoming election and volunteering in various campaigns. Over the past two months I have stuffed envelopes and marched for Scott Sipprelle, blogged for fellow tea partyers and helped Anna Little. It is truly a grass roots movement that is both heartwarming and heart wrenching when so many people are scared and struggling.

After meeting Anna Little about four months ago. I am convinced that she is the person, I want to represent me in Congress. America needs more people like her in our government. Anna Little will be a breath of fresh air in Washington.
I’m proud to have join, Anna’s ever growing army of volunteers.

It is a bit late to be bemoaning the negative numbers in the polls. Any Democrat that couldn’t see this coming after snubbing constituents during 2009 Town Hall meetings, has no business serving the people. You blindly followed the Pied Piper when he pushed every unpopular policy that your constituents disagreed with. Now your constituents will snub you. Bye…

Anna Little is a breath of fresh air and a bright light to the dark stagnant halls of congress. Even though I can not vote for Anna because I am not in her district, I will campaign for her because she is the type of person we need to represent us!

While always having having an interest in political discourse, I have never gotten involved in a campaign. That changed after attending a town hall meeting where Rep Frank Pallone (NJ-6)smugly defended his authorship of the House health care bill, dismissing without consideration the concerns of his constituents over the costs and significant tax increases contained in the legislation.
Mr Pallone has lost touch with real life concerns of his constituents. He’s never held a job outside government (20+ years in Congress), never met a payroll.
Having met Anna Little, I find her to be a breath of fresh air. While lacking the financial resources of her opponent she has energized a volunteer army. I have joined the army and will be dedicating time and money to help with her crusade against a well financed, entrenched, out-of touch incumbent. It’s an uphill battle, but this country needs the change that people like Anna Little will deliver.
Looking forward to November 2!!!!

In 2009, New Jersey got a great gubernatorial candidate by the name of Chris Christie. I was very excited by Chris’s campaign and his stance on the issues. This year, we have an unbelievable congressional candidate and her name is Anna Little. I am absolutely amazed at the jaw dropping ability of her volunteers and I’m ecstatic about her views about what needs to be changed in Washington. We need Anna in Congress, and in November, District 6 might actually get what it needs.

your governor just cost the state of new jersey a huge fortune by really messing up an oppooortunity to receive an educatioal grant he has no future in national politics- he does owe the residents of new jersey and the chidren of new jersey a huge apology! if the anna person you are all raving about is a republican- and i can only assume she is- run as fast as you can! no to the party of no!

LITTLE government is good government.
Tell Frank Pallone he can keep his healthcare bill!
Vote Anna Little on November 2nd!

What can I say? Anna Little is the real deal! Once you meet her you are immediately on board. She is open, honest, sincere and trustworthy, the type of person the “Little” people, (people who make up our country, BTW), want to represent them. She is not a career politician, but rather no-nonsene straight shooter. I, like many others who cannot vote for her, am campainging for her and spreading the word. Watch out for the tidal wave, it’s going to take over the Jersey shore and wash Pallone out to sea! Go Anna!

Anna Little is bright, passionate and “she gets it.” Americans have realized if
they don’t actively participate, things could get real bad, real quick. Frank
Pallone has stayed waaaaaay too long at the fair and is totally out of touch and
has been for a long time. Anna WILL WIN and it’s not going to be that close.

Thank God, people are finally waking up in NJ-6. Frank Pallone is a 22 year entrenched Progressive ideolog, who votes 98% with Nancy Pelosi. He is culpable for all of the progress in Washingtons’ march towards Socialism.
Anna Little could not have arrived on the scene at a better time. She is a constitutional conservative Republican who help stop the out of control spending, and gov’t take over of private companies and whole industries. She knows that the only way to create jobs and stimulate the economy is through free enterprise, with limited government burdens of taxes and regulations.
I wish every other congressional district in the country was fortunate enough to have a candidate like Anna Little.

Little is nuts. If you knew her, you’d agree.

Posted by: GOPer | September 1, 2010, 3:19 pm 3:19 pm

Anna Little is the real deal, she believes in the core values that this great country was founded on. Her opponent Frank Pallone lost touch with the real world by forcing Pallone care down our throat To add insult in this bad economy He gets his wife Sarah a $144,000.00 phony job with EPA in Washington,Some Crap!

To cjr: Anna Little is the ultimate alternative candidate in this race. She is an alternative to the out of touch congressman we have now, and she is also an alternative to establishment republicans, the once that you’re referring to. Anna beat out Diane Gooch, the republican establishment backed candidate, in the primary. Diane had millions of dollars and Anna only a couple of thousand. She is an independent thinker who will stay true to her constituents when elected.

Scott Sipprelle, running in New Jersey’s 12th district, is the underdog to watch this year. Democrats have regarded the seat as safe for years, but the vast majority of voters have simply decided that their current representative has been in Washington for too long. Remember the name Sipprelle.

Anna Little? She is the Mayor of Highlands and can’t stay in budget in that town. They are half a million dollars over budget, property taxes are going up, and she has disappeared to run a campaign for yet another job she is unqualified for. She is a joke! Ask anyone from Highlands and they will tell you. She needs the job, insurence for her family and something for her unemployed husband to do. She is a tea party carpetbagger!
