Yeah. Some of us prefer that he actually be convicted of a crime first. As I understand it, that means he has to be charged with a crime and then tried by a jury of his peers…this not (yet) being a fascist state.

The true heartbreak in all of this is that other countries are allowed to make up laws regarding illegal aliens coming into their country AND how they may respond to those that violate the laws. I hope Sheriff Arpaio does a cost analysis on what financial benefit his office received by accepting those federal grants. What percentage of the money is spent defending the office from the agency that is investigating them, when having accepted the money in the first place is the reason they can be investigated. If federal assistance is found not to be cost effective, I hope the Sheriff’s Office shares that info with other states. Free money is NOT free.

In this country, the law is based on the rule of law, not what some people happen to think . . . it’s based on evidence and due process.
The Sherriff is being investigated for illegal acts. The courts will decide whether he is guilty or innocent – evidence, not ill-informed public opinion will decide that.
Maybe in your version of the country, innocense or guilt is based on what you happen to think with whatever hearsay evidence you’ve picked up – in my country its based on the rule of law applied in a court of law.

This is strong arm Chicago style politics. The Sheriff is outspoken and so Holder and company is intimidating him. It’s typical of the DOJ under Holder. This comes from the top and will continue to get worse. HOlder cannot stand dissent; he cannot stand criticism–he only mirrors this entire administration. We will have much more of the same. Most all sheriffs take an oath to their state’s constitution and to the public of their county. That is all. They are elected and are not abiding to any politician or anything else.
I don’t think Arizona has delegated, as in U. S. Constitution, Amendment 10, local policing to the feds.
I know the U. S. Constitution is considered a quaint “piece of paper” by many today. And, it seems the feds believe they are above our Constitution and are lawfully authorized to trump it at whim. These assumptions need to be reversed.

So there is no specific charge against the sheriff? This is a transparent fishing expedition by the Obama administration to find ANYTHING that can be used to punish the sheriff. Fight ‘em all the way Joe, America is behind you.

It’s going to be very difficult for the DOJ to prosecute him, given his people were specifically trained and paid by them to enforce the immigration laws, but when he was too successful and the Obama administration preferred ammnesty, they’ve been trying to shut him down. After Nov. it’s likely to be a whole new ballgame. There’s no stomach in this country for ammnesty under any of it’s euphemisms, and I think you’re going to see a new congress do a lot of defunding if the laws in the workplace aren’t enforced, and the illegals aren’t deported post haste. The topic is getting too volatile to keep ignoring. If they aren’t going to do the job they’re mandated to do, there’s no point wasting money on the departments.

Is this the same Justice Department that does not have time to prosecute the Murderer of the 17 Sailors on the USS Cole. If we ever hope to get our freedoms back we need to stop sending all this money to Washington and them have them disburse it back to teh states. Obama, Holder and Morton want selective enforcement of our immigration laws.
Failure to enforce ALL of our immigration laws is a serious crime and any elected or appointed official who condones and participates in selective enforcement of any of our laws should be immediately removed from office, arrested and prosecuted. This is not a difficult concept for most American Citizens to understand! Therefore, I can only assume that there is serious criminal behavior at the highest levels of government that bars total enforcement of our immigration laws. There is a very fine line between condoned illegal immigration and human trafficking (a modern form of slavery to benefit criminal employers) and this administration and Attorney General are walking a fine line in this respect.
Selective and non-enforcement of United States Immigration Laws is to commit National Suicide! We American Citizens all know and understand this. If this administration ever gets the message, there may be hope for America!

The Justice Department is just following orders. They tried to cripple Arizona’s immigration law, so the Sheriff said fine he would enforce the Federal Laws on the books.
